If you're in the mood for Asian fusion, then this is place place to go! I have never had to wait each time I have been on weekends which is nice, I guess? The food satisfies the craving but nothing more than that. I do appreciate the creativity in coming up with Americanized Asian dishes for general appeal. The banh mi French toast is my favorite dish. I like that there are weekday meal specials with different offerings each day. Even though dishes haven't been entirely consistent, the flavors are still good. The restaurant is clean and the service is excellent. They have set up plastic dividers between each booth to make guests feel comfortable. Malai Kitchen is a great place for brunch! read more

We absolutely love Malai. The hardest thing is figuring out what to order, because there are so many great things on the menu. Their fish dishes are some of the best in town. They use lots of unique ingredients, everything is made from scratch, and typically have some excellent specials. They have a full bar with a creative cocktail menu and a decent wine selection. In restaurant service is good. But I ordered delivery and they literally did not read the ticket at all and gave me two wrong orders. I needed a vegetarian plate and it had chicken all throughout of it so you couldn't pick it out to eat. The delivery service would not redo the order for pick up. The restaurant Didn't have any better options either. We are in the hospital district side of FW and cannot come to the actual restaurant to pick up the order so it was just very inconvenient. First time here. We went on Sunday for Sunday brunch. Thankfully, we did not have to wait. The patio was pack so we sat inside. But it looks very nice definitely want to come next time and sit in the patio. The atmosphere was nice and our waitress was nice too! We got the Fried Imperial Rolls, Drunken Noodles, and Thai Omelette. The fried imperial rolls were hot and crisp on the outside. I wish there were more than 4 rolls. They were decent size, could be a little larger. The drunken noodles were a little sweeter than I thought. It also had a bed of lettuce at the bottom, which I didn't expect. I could do without it. The beef was tender and juicy! The Thai omelette was good. The minced beef was also tender. My favorite dish had to be the mango sticky rice. The mangos were sweet. I'm glad they gave a lot of coconut milk. I like to coat the sticky rice with the coconut milk. We also carve the coconut so we got to also eat pieces of coconut with the sticky rice and mango. This place was fantastic. We didn't make reservations but got there early enough to only have to wait about 40 minutes. It was a Friday night and it's also the holidays. Well worth the wait. We tried several things. Malai was one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved to Fort Worth. The menu is exciting, and the atmosphere and service have been impeccable on each visit. I recommend the Thai tacos for an appetizer. The Thai tacos with pork are the most flavorful, and even though you may feel tacos are pretty pedestrian, I guarantee you will find these to be unique and so flavorful you'll wish you ordered a double. You can't go wrong with the Pad Kee Mow or the Iron Pot Green Curry Chicken for the main dish. However, if you're here for dinner and want a signature dish you'll keep talking about later on, why not order the Pecan Encrusted Ruby Trout. This is a 10 oz. filet dusted with a peanut crumb and then accented with the most striking lemon-tomato coconut sauce. Second time here and we love the food! Got the Lemongrass Chicken with noodles instead of rice and Vietnamese Barbeque Pork Ribs. Surprisingly large/filling portions. We have struggled to find good Asian food in the area but this is a consistent option. It is quite pricy though. Small cocktails are $12+!! This place is definitely worth stopping by. A very extensive meju of items. We had the crab dip appetizer with the crab chips which you must try. We ordered the crab dip as medium got but it was quite spicy. I like spicy so it wasn't a problem for me. The rice dish they bring out before the meal isn't bad. I think it's cute and unique. For the entre my wife ordered the besides lamb. It was juicy falling off the bone and was a large portion. Looked smelled and tasted delicious. I ordered the vegetable green curry with shrimp. It tasted really good. I would have liked to have more vegetables in it though. I would go here again. Put this place on your list if you're near clear fork. The absolute WORST customer service. I placed an online order for the drunken noodles with tofu and received my order with beef instead. I called to notify the restaurant about the mix up, thinking they would offer to remake my food - customer service 101. Instead, I transferred to the rudest manager named Carisa/Clarissa. She told me that I added tofu and instead of substituting it for beef. I have attached a screenshot of the receipt for proof - no where does it say anything about BEEF. As a vegetarian, I do not eat beef. Upon request for them to fix their mistake, the manager stated they could remake it but I would be "charged for it." I also I never once received any type of apology. $25 wasted. read more

I'm conflicted about this review. On one hand, I celebrated a friend's birthday here and the food was delicious and they were super accommodating for our reservation of 12 people. They even refrigerated a cake for us and brought it out with extra plates and a knife when we were ready. On the other hand, I more recently went for lunch and had a few issues. We ordered thai teas that had an odd after taste, but they were quick to remedy that. The pad thai was odd since it didn't taste like the previous time and tasted almost sour and had a bitter after taste. I will say the one consistent thing is how quick the staff is to help and how kind they are. I'm hoping it was a one time issue with the food and that the next time it'll be just as good as the first time I went! read more

Malai is one of those places that I good eat at for dinner every night. They have a great selection of appetizers and meal options. Anything can be customized and they can make most of the options vegan. To start, I would recommend the tofu spring rolls or peppers. The best entree is the drunken noodles, but the pineapple fried rice is also delicious. they brew their beer in house and have some awesome cocktails. Every rave review you've heard about Malai kitchen is accurate. I got the red curry with tofu and the drunken noodles with the steak the first time I ordered takeout. The red curry was incredible. Imagine your go-to red curry but somehow it tastes fancy and like they found a way to grill a liquid? The tofu was soft and also grilled-ish tasting. Plenty of well cooked jasmine rice. Every drop of it is gold. The drunken noodles are soft and big, plenty of bites of flavorful steak, and just better than any other place I've tried in years. I can't even do it justice describing it. Second time, I ordered delivery for more drunken steak noodles and their version of pho. Okay, the pho is one star, no flavor, would not get it again. However, it was packaged perfectly with separate toppings, undercooked steak so you can finish it in the hot broth yourself, and the broth alone. But I had some drunken noodles to right my meal and all is well. Every person who gave me restaurant recommendations when I moved to FTW told me to come here, and I was skeptical of the hype, but the hype is real! I scrolled through numerous options and settled on a familiar Dallas name and took off for a new part of town. Malai Kitchen in the Shops at Clearfork is a striking place with an open kitchen. I had a giant booth all to myself and plenty of time to peruse their beautiful menu. Really they have the most amazing variety and I ended up ordering too much for one person. My waitress brought me complimentary sticky rice with a Thai Apple Eggplant puree. There are sambals and Sriracha sauce already on the table; but she also brought more interesting sauces when I ordered the Malai Favorites Sampler. These are the things I adore. Chicken Satay, Fried Pork and Shrimp Rolls, Spring Rolls with Seared Ahi Tuna and Charred Vietnamese Meatballs. They were all perfectly done; but I had to stop and save room for my entree! I was surprised at just how much chicken there turned out to be in the Iron Pot Green Curry Chicken. I had ordered rice noodles on the side instead of rice and that bowl was as big as the entree. The curry was seasoned well and spicy - a "3" as I had ordered and just scrumptious. I was not rushed out of there and had a delightful experience, even though I was dining alone. It wasn't spicy enough (our whole party of 13 felt underspiced), and he rolled out the red carpet and brought chili and heat in various forms. He also invented a couple drinks for my friend and I to have so we can socialize, but go back to hitting the books afterward (Vietnamese coffee, Bailey's, and coconut milk--about $13 on the bill). I've had the drunken noodles twice. Both shrimp and steak very good. I do think it can be a bit greasy but perhaps that's from ordering it to go. The real winner here though is the Thai Tacos. Flavor is great, pulled pork tasty and the aioli sauce tastes like it is homemade - no artificial sweetener or preservatives. I would highly recommend this place. This place was OK. This place is in the clear Fork shopping area, so you might have to find some parking nearby, there aren't any, so you'll have to walk lol. The wait was not bad for a weekday night. A mask is in enforced upon walking in, but as soon as you get your water you can takeoff your mask. The seating was a big close to other tables for my liking especially on a weekday. Honestly I understand the menu and where it's coming from, they want to be like an authentic Vietnamese Thai place, but the seasoning is just not there for me. It was a lot of bland dishes, a lot of missing seasonings for me. I bet a lot of American people might like this place, but if you've been to authentic Asian place you would not like the food here, Again my full and complete opinion. I believe the prices don't reflect the dishes as well, for me it's a little on the expensive side. But the decor & the vibe and the staff, especially the customer service is amazing. read more

The issue: Server/Mgmt customer service at the table. For a restaurant that automatically charges a 20% gratuity for party's of 6 or more, you'd expect a few visits from the server and a more friendly/courtesy dialogue, this would also be for management. Server dialogue was bland and management bringing the food did not even announce herself, say good evening or the least 'enjoy and is there anything else you need'! Plus, another server dropped off a plate and didn't even acknowledge anyone, just dropped off the plate and left, so embarrassing for a high-end restaurant -- or is it? Again, food and cost was great, but customer service had a thumbs way down yesterday. Will give it another try in a few months. read more

We had a quick getaway from East Texas to Ft Worth. Finding this restaurant was the highlight of our trip. Beautiful sophisticated room, but didn't mind my husband in shorts. Waitstaff cooperative with each other to bring out your food hot. I had the cod in red curry with vegetables. The fish was cooked perfectly. I had medium curry and could have had it a bit hotter. Husband had green curry with beef. Excellent. Appetizer was their sampler, favorite part was Vietnamese meatballs that you wrapped in lettuce and cilantro. Vietnamese iced coffee was like drinking chocolate. So delicious. Then came the coconut meringue pie, with meringue and fresh coconut that we had never tasted before. Great meal. read more

My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant through Yelp after many other local restaurants were closed. I'll be honest, sometimes I hesitate having Thai food at an upscale restaurant because they tend to be more Americanized rather than authentic. Don't judge a book by its cover because our food was phenomenal! The drunken noodles and basil fried rice were very tasty. It was authentic but still had a unique twist to them (except i'm not sure how I feel about lettuce in noodles yet). The portions were large and the prices were reasonable. Throughout our dinner, our server was very professional and would constantly check up on us to make sure we didn't need anything. I can genuinely say this is one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to. If I go back to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, this is definitely a restaurant I will be coming back to! read more

After being a loyal customer and ordering 2 to 3 times a month for pick up, last night we had a problem with our order. I called today to discuss the fact that one of our dishes was made completely incorrectly without any sauce on it at all-- what is pad Thai without the sauce, just bare noodles? At first when I called they were trying to offer me a replacement which I said I could get another day. I said I'm happy to just take a discount code for the next time we order because we typically love all the food we get and this was the first time that this had happened. We simply called to see what they would do to make it right. After being on hold for a while a gentleman came to the phone and said that the OWNER he would not replace the order, but offered us two dollars off our next meal. We find this extremely disappointing. At this point I'm not sure we'll ever order from them again simply from the perspective that they did not correctly complete an order for which we paid full price. Since it was a to go order there was no way to return back to the store to get them to replace it without taking another 45 minutes out of our evening on a Saturday night. If this is the way this OWNER runs his restaurant I want nothing to do with it. Good customer service is on the decline. Just beware if your order is not right they're not going do anything to help you out. Bad business for sure! You've lost a loyal customer..... too many other restaurants I can order from in this declining economy. read more

went here this evening with my son. He had the Banh Mi Vietnamese Sandwich without meat and loved it. I ordered the Pad Thai and a side of Siamese Watercress which they say is seasoned with Red Boat. I had no idea what Red Boat was. Turns out red boat is a very fishy kind of smoky fish sauce. I did not care for that I am not a fan of fishy fish. Turned out my pad thai was also flavored with that same fish sauce. Our waiter was very sweet though and he had them remake it for me. The we also had the Spicy Crispy Vegetable Samosas they were very good. They come with two sauces a cilantro creamy sauce and a tamarind sauce. I liked the cilantro sace more, the tamarind sauce was kid of tart which didn't seem to go with the Samosas. The customer service there from hostess to waiter is excellent. It is in a nice area and is very nice and clean inside. The only problem really was the fish sauce. We had two waiters tonight both Bryce and George and both were very nice. read more
