First Impressions ============= Host greeted us with a warm welcome and made sure we knew how everything worked. Super friendly service--good explanation to English speaking clients as well! Super Clean, like serious CLEANEST restaurant I've ever stepped foot in, but it's new. Food: ===== Ordered sauce noodle and soup noodle. Sauce noodle: SO GOOD! Very bold flavours and I picked medium spicy & zero numbness. Soup Noodle: Also delicious but out of the two we preferred sauce noodle. Would we come back? ================= YES! Great service, great food, we will be back for sure!

I was craving for some hot soup noodles so my husband and I decided to try this restaurant out. The reason I'm giving it a 3 star is because when we walked in, we only got a "welcome" and that's it. We basically had to find our own seats and we were waiting for someone to come explain the rules to us - but no one came over. (This was our first time at this restaurant, so we weren't sure if they were supposed to take the order for us - because usually in a restaurant that's what they do) The waitresses were sitting at a far end corner eating their food and chatting. I got fed up with waiting, so I spoke up and asked the waitress if they are going to take our order. The waitress then said "oh you've never been here before?" Um... I'm not sure why she would assume that I've been here before. Pretty silly if you ask me. So then I told to tell her that it's my first time here. She briefly explained the rules and so we finally started with our orders. Basically you can customize your order. You pick up a bowl and you put whatever ingredients you want into that bowl. Afterwards, you go to the front counter and they will weigh your bowl - so the cost of your bowl of noodles depends on the weight of your ingredients. Then you get to choose whether you want sauce or soup base. After that you choose the spicy level and how "numb" you want it to be. I chose regular for both numb and spicy. I ordered the soup base since I wanted something hot on a cold night. The soup base is pretty good and not too salty either. It has the right amount of spicy and numb level too! I pretty much finished more than half of the soup base~ Even though I didn't get a great first impression, I will still come back because I enjoy the noodles!

Super stoked there's finally a mala tang closer to me! They also open a bit later so if I'm craving for a late night bite I'd pass by sometimes. I've went roughly about 4 times before I finally decided on a rating. Mala Town has the ingredients laid out for you to pick and choose. The pricing is based on weight. You also get to choose your level of spicy and numb. My first visit was phenomenal and the richness of the soup base was mouth watering. After my first visit I went back a couple of times and realized quality control isn't steady. The soup bases were starting to taste more water downed and even if I were to increase the level it wasn't spicy... plus the last two times I went my order was consistently wrong even though all I asked for was no cilantro and green onions... After you leave make sure you drink loads of water because I feel super dehydrated every single time meaning they probably add a lot of MSG into their broth. Staff are super friendly and helpful if it's your first time coming they guide you on how to order. They can all speak Mandarin and fluent in English. I'd come back just to satisfy my craving.

Came here out of Random. A pretty legit Chinese express hotpot place. I would say it's an authentic 麻辣烫 spot。 I like given the option to pick the spicy and numb level. The ingredients are pretty fresh as well. The cost is reasonable at $23/kg of ingredients. Check them out!

The concept of choosing your noodles and ingredients is pretty cool! I was able to choose a relatively small amount of ingredients since I wasn't super hungry. I chose the mala soup with beef. I would go again.

We discovered this place nearly a month ago and we've already had dinner here 4 times. Very delicious soup (spice and numbness level can be made to your liking). Very clean restaurant and the workers are always kind. Writing this review to cure my cravings until I go back on Friday ! I also recommend the bottled drink in the picture to go along with your meal (forgot the name but it's a perfect combo).

Very good food. Seating and ambience is good. Price is reasonable. Only qualms were that there is no provided water. You have to buy a drink

My friend and I did a lot during the two hours so I would recommend doing something in the meantime to dine here. Dinner was great here. Ordered the shaoxing wine drunken chicken pot and added additional veggies, wonton and mushroom. Salt and pepper corn is a must try. Lemon tea was so refreshing here. Servers come by for soup refills and they help clear the impurities of the soup. Great service overall. Although on the pricier side, this was still 5 stars overall.

We ordered chicken broth and it was rich and flavorful, ingredients were extremely fresh, and the quality of the meats and seafood really stood out. Every dish we ordered tasted amazing nothing disappointed!!! Since this is a Hong Kong style hot pot, the environment was super comfortable and truly felt like being in Hong Kong. The vibe with Cantonese songs playing in the background while we enjoyed our dinner, which made the whole experience even more authentic and relaxing. If you're craving hotpot in Toronto, Loon Fong Hotpot is a must try!!! I'll definitely be coming back again!!!

Staff were attentive and things came out at a good pace. It hasn't been overly busy the times I've gone, so hard to say how it holds up during peak hours, but no issues from my visits so far. Food 3.5/5 Solid selection of hotpot ingredients, with enough variety to keep things interesting. Quality was consistent across the board. They also have a bamboo-style drink that stands out visually and fits the whole theme well. Nothing felt lacking, but also nothing that completely blew past expectations. One thing I did notice is it hasn't been packed during my visits, which either means I've been going at quieter times or there are aspects I haven't fully experienced yet during peak hours. Still, for the atmosphere, parking convenience, and overall quality, it's an easy spot to come back to.

And my husband had a 2 meat shabu shabu with teriyaki base. The meat we chose beef and lamb. The teriyaki base came pretty quick. We started boiling the base and then we got the 2 bowls of meat, 1 bowl of vegetables, and a bowl of the noodles. The base was pretty sweet, but still good with all the ingredients. The dipping sauces were set on a central table that we made our own. I like sesame oil, sesame sauce, Shacha sauce with green onion and cilantro to mix them up. My coconut Tom Yum soup came a bit late. The meat was a good portion, the shrimp was 3 big pieces of tiger shrimp. And there was some veggies at the bottom with noodles. They were all in good portion, the only problem was the soup, it didn't seem to have coconut in it, the taste and the color looked like Tom Yum soup only. For lunch time, my Shabu Shabu was $16.xx+tax and my noodles soup was $9.80+tax. The price was pretty decent. I would like to come back and try other combinations.

I've had my fair share of hotpot across North America- mainly shabu (Japanese hotpot), with Kim Tao being my first Chinese hotpot experience- and it did NOT disappoint. For starters, this place is HUGE. They have enough space for small parties, larger parties, and even banquets. Surprisingly no wait despite some surrounding hotpot places having over a 3 hour wait. If you really wanted to be secure and reserve a table, you can do it via Google reservations or call them. The menu was surprisingly extensive- there are so many options to choose from and were appropriately portioned so that way you don't over order. Two meats I would personally avoid would be the ox tongue and beef shank as they were pretty tough and didn't taste the best but everything else was really good. My brother and I tried most items on the menu and our favorite proteins were salmon, shrimp balls, tripe, sliced chicken, and marinated beef. Get the mango sago!! It's the perfect palate cleanser and tastes like fresh mangoes. Phillip, our main server, did an awesome job. He was friendly, super helpful, and quick to turn around my brother and I's back to back orders (lol). All of the other staff who occasionally took care of our table also did a great job keeping us clean and well stocked. Despite being relatively busy, service was lightning fast. I will note though, that if you're the type of person who prefers to be sweet talked or indulge in conversation with your server from time to time, this is not the kind of place for that, lol. Nothing wrong with this at all but I'd describe their hospitality as "Hong Kong style" where it's rather sharp and direct which I actually really like. This place implements auto gratuity of 15% which is totally okay with us.

Each pot was for 3 people and each pot holds two soups. Service 4/5 Food 4/5 (I don't have a lot of experience with hotpot) Ambience 3.75/5 We had a great time eating and catching up. The pros are: AYCE The condiments were delivered to the room and set up on a separate table in our room The appetizers were also delivered and set up on a second separate table in our room Service was efficient and the servers often came around to top up the broths. Cons: The restaurant allows only one person to place all the food orders and refills. Our group problem solved this requirement but it made it a lot of work for one guest. Favourites: Fried sticky rice Fresh made fishballs Steamed stuffed egg plant Tons of veggie options Desserts Karaoke is available in the VIP room. The songs selection in English was limited with fewer new songs. Parking is available right outside restaurant in the plaza. The restaurant is open to 1:00am. This is a modest hotpot restaurant with modest decor.
