Always like this place. The regular lady at counter is awesome. Recently they have a new girl at counter on Monday nights. 2 weeks in a row I've place a simple order sub 3way and a super 3 way, both weeks the order has been wrong. Seems she's more concerned about emptying her tip jar after every customer and play on phone. For now on instead of calling order in I will drive by. If she is working I'll keep driving. So today's visit makes it the 5th time I've dined here in a 2 week span. I was just here yesterday and before I walked out the door after my lunch with 3 of my friends that I just introduced to this fantastic little eatery for their fantastic roast beef and the great onion rings. Which they all agreed I was on mark! So I was thinking maybe I'll try the steak tips grinder for today. I can only say, am I impressed with the steak tips! OK.. so I've lived in the Attleboro area for almost 14 years now. Having moved down here from the North Shore, I have a very particular sense of what a roast beef sandwich should be. That is, thinly sliced beef piled high on an onion roll with a slice of American cheese and tons of James River BBQ sauce. This is so rare in these parts that I've gone to the trouble of trying to make my own. Now with the reputation of places like Kelly's in Revere and all the others in that area, one would think that there'd be some demand in this area, and that, like the NFL, copying a successful business model might be a good idea. But NO! We're stuck with places like Walt's, Millers, and even a small joint in North Attleboro with "roast beef' in their name. But none seem smart enough to even try to produce a proven successful roast beef sandwich. I just don't get it. Well anyway, rant over. Mak's has fulfilled my quest. Granted it's 20 minutes from my home, but well worth the ride. For just over $6, I got the same sandwich I've grown up with. Big & tasty, and their onion rings are thin, crispy, and light. I have visited Maks-Bellingham on and off over the years and the food and service have always been great. My trip today was a different experience. I entered and waited at the counter to order a couple sandwiches. There were 2 employees working. One making a sandwich the other chatting with him. After a few moments, I proceeded to grab some chips, waited a bit more then grabbed a drink. At no time did either of the 2 workers acknowledge my presence even to say be right with you. I waited a bit longer and watched as the 2 workers chatted some more waiting for someone to make eye contact with me. Then one went off to do something else. At that point, I put my chips and drink back and walked out. The one noticeable difference this trip vs my previous visits was the absence of the nice lady that usually works the counter and takes the orders. If I could actually give no stars I would. We got an order of onion rings and they were bland and tasteless and we could tell they were frozen, even ketchup didn't help the taste. I got a meatball sub and it has to have been the worst meatball sub I have ever had. First off the meatballs were also frozen and heated up but not in a sauce or anything they were completely devoid of sauce! There was sauce on the sandwich but it was only on the top of it nothing at the bottom at all. I opened it and then art of the meatball stuck to the bread, the bread was the best part of the sandwich. The steak sandwich was average but clearly better than anything else we got. Clearly they did not put forth any effort to make satisfactory food. The young lady behind the counter was not very friendly and it was clear to us that she really did not want to be there. I'm originally from Boston ( where we have Kelly's) I was skimming thru the prior reviews and read another review saying maks is better the Kelly's so I made the trip.... wow I was disappointed !!! The girl taking my order was interested more interested in her phone then taking my order..... I ordered a Rare Super roast beef with American cheese and BBQ sauce , and a order of onion rings ( only reason for the 3 stars , onion rings were retry good) the onion roll was so old you could taste it... the roast beef was well done and old.... Great place for grilled sandwiches, pizza and salads. We've been ordering delivery from them every few weeks for the past year and quality has remained constant and satisfying! Their pizza is made with yummy tomato sauce, generous toppings and all the cheesy goodness you'd want. Saladas are crisp and fresh, always fun to munch on. Grilled items are well executed and tasty. Every once in a while I indulge in a steak and cheese, and they'll customize it to my weird taste (provolone instead of American) and make it just right. It looks like they've recently changed their dessert supplier, or the supplier switched out the way they make tiramisu. Was charged $4.00 more than on the menu on a delivery and was told by the manager the prices have changed but she was using up old menus, The correct prices were posted on their wall. Waited over 2 in a half hours for my food an was on the phone with them for over an hour helping them "find" my address when they were in the wrong city. Then after two in a half hours they decided to tell me that they won't deliver to me. And that they are to busy to deliver my food that I had already paid for. This is our go-to place since we moved to southern Franklin 5 years ago and they have remained consistently good. Our large family orders 2-3 days/week sometimes since we can do pizza one night but then Greek salad the next. The Super Beef sandwich and Chicken Kabob salad are big winners with us. This is a place you could drive right by and not even notice it, being that it's in a strip plaza. Doesn't mean it's bad because it's not just kinda hidden That's all. There roast beef is one of the better ones I had it's lean and done just right and decent serving of meat on a bun. Friend had the steak and cheese and said it was done just right and juicy. Not dried out how some come when it's shaved steak. Plus they mixed the cheese in it so makes it 100x better. The menu is a typical Greek/ pizza joint with all your typical offerings. Staff was polite and helpful. Prices are right on par with other places and Maybe even cheaper in some other areas. They do have specials from time to time. The roast beef sandwiches are also very good- overflowing with lean, rare beef, whether served au jus or with BBQ sauce. Onion rings- outstanding, wings need a little work. The chicken parm calzone was also delicious, even though it seemed more like a chicago style pizza. Pizza rolls (in an egg roll wrapper) were also pretty good, but a little small. Prefer take out/delivery, though, since they don't serve beer or wine. Updated 12/17 Had not ordered in a while since they kept leaving things out of orders(usually salad dressing). Felt like I was bothering her. Chicken 'noodle' soup it's super oily with very little penne macaroni shredded up inside. Roast beef was decent - but cold. I'd expect warmed beef at a place like this.
