I'm giving two stars for the food. I would've given five, but I had to take away three stars for the crappy attitude of the guy who runs the register. This place does not seem to understand the concept of calling ahead. You place an order ahead of time so that you don't have to wait behind some lady trying to decide what she wants when you only have a short time for lunch. He wouldn't hand me my order even though it was clearly labeled and sitting there and sm then he had the audacity to say"everybody needs to relax." I will be relaxing at a different restaurant going forward. I have a very short period of time for lunch and that is the reason I order ahead. Honestly, just driving past Whole Foods, Maki Fresh wouldn't catch my eye. What got me in? A coupon. What's going to bring me back? The salmon bowl! I ordered the salmon bowl and green beans for my husband and I to share. The green beans were tempura battered and utterly delicious. They weren't over breaded like some others and the serving size was huge. The salmon bowl was likewise delish. The large bowl of brown rice (white is an option) topped with a large piece of salmon, several different types of veggies and a glaze. The Brussels sprouts shined in this dish. Even sharing, we had a difficult time finishing our meal and even if I hadn't had the coupon, the prices were very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food served. This weekend I'm heading over to Parkway Place for a little Christmas shopping (well, maybe a lot of shopping since I haven't started yet). This is one of my go-to places for lunch since it's really close to my work. The food is amazing. And MOST of the time, the service is great. The owner/manager is very nice and the girl that's usually at the counter is great. But not today. Today I placed an online order for pick up, and when I got it back to work, neither of the 2 sauces that I had paid for were included in my order. This is a minor inconvenience, but I had paid for them and tipped on them, and my meal was less enjoyable without them. So I called the restaurant hoping that they could just credit my account (I'm a rewards member) or put the cost of the sauces back on my debit card. Instead, I was met with attitude from whoever answered the phone. First she tried to argue with me that my sauces were "mixed in" the bowl I had bought. No they weren't. The 2 extra sauces are different (teriyaki and maki sauce) and it would be obvious if they were in the bowl. Then, when I told her that the extra sauces are listed on my receipt and that they always come in a separate container, she said "Oops." (And then she sort of giggled,) "Well did you want to come back and get them?" I said "No, I only get 30 minutes for lunch, and I already used 1/2 of it coming to get lunch and to get back here..." and before I could even ask if there was a way to credit the sauces, or maybe just make a note since I eat there about once a week on average, she said "I don't know what you want me to do but I'm not going to redo the sale over 2 sauces". So I informed her that I would just find somewhere else to get my lunch and she hung up. placed an online order, needed to cancel called within 2 minutes of placing the order was hung up on. Called 2 more times and placed on hold for 5 minutes a piece when I got through they would not cancel the order. The employee that answered the phone was nice but I could hear the manager in the background saying it's been made already, which is wasn't supposed to be done yet so it was just sitting prepared prior to when I was to arrive. Then was mad when I wanted to speak to him, very rudely interrupted me multiple times and talked about how they were too busy to deal with me and it's been ready for 10 minutes. Therefore, it was going to be nice and cold by the time I could have picked it up since it was mad earlier than it was supposed. There has to be some customer service and if he wouldn't have raised his voice or interrupted me and explained in a nice way I would have understood. I recommend you changing it to "Wing" instead of "wingS" which usually means plural, I thought I was ordering a plate of wings but literally only got one very plain chicken wing It was actually funny because when I opened the box it was like opening a box of sadness. That poor chicken was killed twice :( The kids cheese pizza is interesting but it's really just bread with american cheese slices melted onto it and chicken on top. We visited Maki Fresh last weekend for dinner and if I weren't trying to be good on my diet, I'd come back tonight! Both hostesses were pleasant and efficient. We ordered to Brussels sprout bowls and a side of sweet potato tempura to share, both of which came out pretty quickly. The tempura was amazing - it was cooked fresh and came out super hot but not too hot to eat. The tangy sauce served with it reminded me of yum yum sauce but with a kick. Really highlighted the delicate flavor of the sweet potato and punctuated each bite with a little kick in the pants. I could eat it all day. We both loved our Brussels bowls. They're made with sticky rice, perfectly grilled chicken, a sweet, teriyaki type sauce, and lightly fried, EXTRA crispy Brussels sprouts. It was addictive! We added a little bit of our tempura sauce to our bowls, too. I loved the dish. My only complaints are that having part of the kitchen in the dining area is a little distracting and loud, and there was kind of a weird, unpleasant smell by the drink fountain. My Friend Told me while I went to the Restroom to wash my hands the Staff acknowledge he was their and Ignored him and were more concerned with another person near the Register Area. The food itself was tasty. Best part of the entire thing was the crab rangoon and the sweet and sour chicken bowl. The place seems calm and slow yet the customer service was AWFUL. I usually don't notice terrible service cause 99.98% of the time you at least get a " hello". We didn't even get a "are you ready" or anything and it was as slow as it can be. Not bad on taste of the rolls however, the rolls are more like bite sized pieces and the cashier Amanda (name on receipt) wasn't very helpful or friendly. We were even over charged $4.50 for an item that was only $1.00 to add. She ended up refunding us after my husband caught it. When I got home I also noticed that I received spicy mayo and soy sauce packets but No Ginger Or Wasabi so be sure to ASK for this IF you go and use it. I went to Maki on 4/19/2024 for a late lunch. I guess it was the manger that took my order. He had a bad attitude. He was so arrogant. When he brought my meal, he looked at me and drop my fork. He said he would get me another fork. With his bad attitude, I don't think he got me a new fork. I probably ate my meal with the fork he dropped on the floor. When he needed to go to the back kitchen to pick up orders, he kept passing by my pub table where I was sitting. He had to squeeze between my pub table and the one next to mine. Every time he passed by I could feel the breeze he was creating. Instead of using the much wider walkway, he chose to squeeze between my table and the one next to mine. I was the only customer actually sitting down having lunch. He was going back and forth picking up to go orders. He probably passed my table 8 or 9 times. Who wants to be interrupted while they are having lunch. He needs to stop taking short cuts by customers tables, and adjust his arrogant attitude. I don't see how he has a job there. We ate here for the first time for lunch today. I have to say that this place makes some yummy food for sure! I really love their flavors and cooking style. All the components of the grilled salmon bowl were amazing! The Brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection. The portions were perfect for lunch as well. Maki fresh is a great hidden gem for Huntsville! It is in the whole foods shopping center. Walking in you notice right away how clean the restaurant is. We came here for a late lunch and ordered several things on the menu. The pricing is great and had no issue with that. I ordered the crispy Brussels bowl. It has grilled chicken, Brussels sprouts and your choice of brown or whit rice with teriyaki. I chose brown in mine. The flavors work really well together and was really good. This bowl is the most popular and I can see why. we got 3 different sushi rolls. The spicy crab was my favorite. Their onion rings are really good also. The batter on the rings is golden brown and super crunchy, which I love. The onion rings only were supposed to come with 1 sauce but the lady working gave us two sauces since there were two of us eating. I appreciate that and thought it was very thought full.
