It was my best friend's 30th bday and we wanted to do something a little different/special before going out to celebrate. We came up with the idea of getting our makeup done, and luckily had read about Pre-Dame, which seemed awesome. There were 5 of us who wanted in, and when I contacted Stefanie she couldn't have been more friendly and easy to coordinate with. There were 5 of us girls - all really different in terms of style - but all really pumped about having someone come to US and do our makeup while we got the night started. Stefanie came to my apt with tons of makeup and a bottle of champagne in hand on a Saturday evening. She was really fun ( we honestly tried to get her to come out with us afterward we loved her so much, but sadly for us she had another makeup gig to get to) and insanely talented (she gave everyone a lot of individual attention and everyone was so happy with their look) Everyone looked amazing, I mean, model amazing. It was seriously one of the best things we possibly could have done to make the night special - first because while the pre-dame party itself was so much fun, but second because we felt so freakin hot all night. Highly recommended

The lesson itself was fantastic - she knows her stuff and gave us lots of options from an every day look to how to glam it up more for evening wear. I was unclear on the look I wanted at my trial run, but it proved super helpful to meet and have her create a look for me. From there I was able to decide what direction (color palette, intensity, etc.) I wanted to go in for the day of. She really listened and made me, my mom and sister look amazing on the day of. I had to unexpectedly move hotel rooms midway through my makeup session on my wedding day and she was as cool as a cucumber despite the chaotic vibe. She also gave great beauty advice and makeup tips to help me on my big day and afterward. Amy rocks!

Before the big day - she encouraged me to send photos of different styles that I might like. What was even better was that she expertly took these styles and made them work for me! I have worked with hair and make up artists before and some of them just make you feel like you have to sit there and wait for the final look. Amy checked in with me through out the process to make sure that I was comfortable with everything. Not only is she skilled but she was so much fun to chat with while getting ready! The final look was great and I felt wonderful! I will be recommending her to all my friends and will absolutely hire her again for upcoming events!

Truly blown away by how talented Sarah and Coleen are!!!…read more Everyone looked SO good, and my mom and my mother-in-law especially were so happy with their hair and makeup, despite being nervous about their first times having hair and makeup done. Sarah made me look and feel my best, and had my back all day, doing touch-ups and fixing my hair. I'm so, so grateful that she was there with me. She's not only brilliant at what she does, she's incredibly kind and so calm that you can't help but also feel calm .

Sarah is so easy to work with, and she communicated very well along the way (which I was so grateful for and impressed by considering she's got 2 little ones). I really appreciated the questionnaires she sent along the way to get the conversation going about looks and styles, and the attention she paid to each person's skin type and skincare routine. From our first phone call together I felt at ease with her immediately and knew that I could trust her. Half of my bridal party were Asians, so it was important to us to find someone who understood how to work with those features (you'd be surprised, I've gotten professional hair and make up done by Asian artists that I did not like!) During our trial and even on the morning of, Sarah took time chatting with each person about the process and the styles we were looking for, I think this put everyone at ease and helped those who were indecisive make a decision about what they wanted. Most of my bridesmaids do not wear make up on the regular, so they were so pleased when they got glammed up but still looked and felt like themselves. I have to admit even for myself that at the end of the night, I was a little bummed to take everything off because of how much I liked the look. One of my bridesmaid had short hair but wanted an updo to keep her hair out of her face, and Sarah and her assistant Colleen worked magic to achieve just that. The moms also had their hair and make up done, and overall we were just so pleased and grateful to Sarah for being willing to travel up to us in the Hudson Valley to complete our wedding looks.

CMAD was the best place to resharpen my skills as well as learn new techniques. Ruthie and Johnny are honestly the most helpful mentors/teachers I've ever had. They are so patient and genuinely want you to win along side them in this cut throat industry. Although this recent pandemic has slowed a lot of things down, they also have taught me the correct proper sanitizing etiquette when working with a client. I highly 1000% recommend this school, it contains the best programs with a price point you can't beat in NYC.

AVOID! I'm new to the area so decided to try out Face & Hair by Lorraine with a Groupon voucher,…read morewhich included a cut, blow dry and single process color. I could tell from the moment I spoke to the person on the phone to book my appointment, that this was bad news. The person sounded like it was a huge hassle to take down my details and was not accommodating with the times I wanted so I agreed to show up earlier than I wanted. On the day of the appointment, just as I was about to leave the house, I got a call to tell me to come later. When I got there, the salon was cluttered and messy. I didn't feel welcomed at all. My single process color was the worst salon color I've ever had. They used super cheap hair dye that looked like even cheaper boot polish. After half an hour when they checked the progress, they found that it hadn't done the job at all, so they reapplied more and I sat there for another half hour. It came out within a single wash and left my roots a dirty gold color afterwards. They then tried to accuse me of not telling them that my hair was so stubborn, and that I told them the wrong shade to use (even though I've been getting my hair dyed for more than 15 years with the same color!) When it came time to get the cut, I was so upset that I said to just give it a trim and leave the style. The hairdresser decided to ignore me and proceeded to thin out bits and cut into the sides to frame my face (a subsequent hairdresser I went to said they had done a hack job!). The one half decent part of the service was the blow dry, which was quick, smooth and professional (though I had asked for it to be blown straight and they decided to curl it anyway). All in all, worst hair experience ever - I would not recommend this place to anyone!
