Okay so I thought really hard about giving this place a review. Honestly I was not happy because I told her that I need a lighter color. I've had it before in the Bay Area and was told go light not dark. I told her this and instead of listening to her client she went dark. I had an excellent experience with both my eyeliner, and my lips. Apparently I'm very sensitive, my skin gets very swollen and sore, my eyes watered a ton but she definitely did her thing as best she could! My eyeliner is the favorite outcome between the lips and eyes, as I think I might have to go back again for a touchup on my lips as the color didn't quite turn out as hoped. They do a pretty good job at numbing you, although I caught wind that for very sensitive clients they can actually have a professional come in and inject you with lidocaine. If I had it to do again I probably would've paid the extra money and gotten the lidocaine injection, but hindsight is 20/20- am I right? I love that she tattoos the waterline of your eye, so that it blends in seamlessly. Always remember that the colors for lips end up potentially lighter on your lips after it heals, so I don't think you can go wrong with going a little bit darker than you want. the color seemed to have taken a bit more on my upper lip than lower, so I will be reaching out for an appointment to do a touch up pretty soon. I absolutely LOVE my brows done by Kelly! Let me start with saying, I've always had very thin eyebrows (victim of the early 00s lol) but tried filling them in the best I could and I am a MUA. However, they were always uneven when I filled them in myself so I decided to get combo brows to skip this step completely in the AMs. Best decision ever!! Kelly did such an amazing job, I am so happy with her artistic gift. Combo Brows and Freckles!! Not only is she the best at what she does but she has such a great personality. Myka who checked me in was so welcoming and made me feel comfortable, she answered my questions I had while waiting for the numbing to work and made any anxiety I had go away, she too has a great artist eye and helped with the placement of my freckles (she has naturally beautiful ones) and did a great job with Kelly on where my faux freckles should be placed. I've wanted to have my already thick brows microbladed for awhile now and wasn't going to let just anyone do them. She then moved me into the procedure room and took before pictures. The entire time we chatted away. I'm not a super social person, but Kelly was so dang sweet that she made me feel like we had been friends for years. We started with my brows...did I mention that her work was so impressive that I actually booked to get my lips done too?!?!? When she did my brows I felt no discomfort at all. She had me sit up several times to make sure my brows looked amazing, and then had me lay back down to keep working on the perfection that would be my brows! I was really excited to get my brows done because I basically didn't have any brows from the arch down. Kelly took the time to discuss with me and show me how my eyebrows were going to look before she started the microblading. So I came to her with very very very sparse eyebrows from plucking forever. I had searched around for super long trying to find someone and believe me when I say, I found the perfect one to transform me.. I went to her to tell her what I wanted and instead of jus flat saying no, she incorporated my desires but also knew what was best for me at the same time.. Basically she numbs you up for an hour, draws your brows on and then tattoos them for another hour or. As soon as you get them done, they are the color they turn out to be, BUT just to warn you they become PITCH BLACK during the first week or so.. By 7 days I was almost fully scabbed off and by 10 days!! They were back to the amazing color and shape before.. I may have her go a little bit thicker on my next touch up but beyond that she is amazing and perfect. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking to get their eyebrows done!! UPDATE: Wow, Kelly is fantastic. I think she's just as much of a perfectionist as I am so she was just as panicked as I was when she found out I was worried about the shaping/evenness. She found time for me to come in the very next day and we made a few adjustments which she had called out right when she saw me. Now, they look absolutely perfect and I couldn't be more excited. She walks you through everything you need to know about the process including aftercare and the numbing made the procedure virtually painless. As far as my brows, I'm used to a lighter, more natural look so the darkness and more dramatic shape is still making me nervous but she's assured me that both the color and thickness subsides after the healing process. I don't think my brows were ever very even to begin with but I'm realizing that it's much more important when your brows are darker. With the "glorifying" aging process, I had lost half of each eyebrow, not to mention the thinning of each! A friend of mine referred me to Make Up Before You Wake Up in November so I immediately got on line to book an appointment. These eyebrows. I dread them every day. I used to dread creating my eyebrows every morning and the time and and precision it took. Now I dread looking at my new microbladed brows. They are the wrong color for my hair, they don't match my own eyebrow color, and they look like they've been applied with a tattoo gun, except for a few tiny areas where you can see individual microbladed hairs. They are uneven and slightly lopsided. You know how eyebrows are supposed to look like sisters, not like twins? Well, mine are definitely unrelated. I have to apply eyebrow powder on my brows to correct their color and concealer around them to contour and to make them presentable. Now, I waited for weeks and weeks for the color to maybe soften or change, but they are the same color as day 1. I cannot wait for them to fade, or better yet - disappear, so that I can get them redone by someone who is up to par. Bottom line: let's just say no one will be asking me where I got my eyebrows done and no one will be complimenting me on them, either. Adios $600. I decided to get my brows done by Kelly based off her Yelp reviews and pictures. I have seen so many artist do the same style of brows on every client they had so I was immediately impressed with the different styles of brows that Kelly created for her clients. She is an artist in every sense! The procedure wasn't painful. The scraping noise was the only thing that gave me anxiety but that's all it was... noise. I am generally satisfied with my brows. I got them done here about a year ago and came in for my second touch up a couple months ago. Biggest complaint is the color seems off to me. It was even more red before I got my second touch up but it still looks a little off to me especially in super bright lighting. Price for quality is decent :) IMPORTANT: the $150 touch up special only lasts for ONE YEAR, otherwise you pay the same price ($550 I believe) for your touch up which I think seems a little unfair but maybe most places do that? read more
