Ok, now that we got that out of the way, I'll tell you about my experience(s.) We were in Vegas visiting family just before Christmas my I noticed my husband was looking a little grizzly. Looked for a good barbershop, found Makeshift Union in Yelp with a bunch of reviews so I made him an appointment (he can write his own review on that, I ain't his secretary!) When we got to the shop, I got a wild hair (zing!) up my arse and thought it would be dope to shock my family for Christmas and cut all my hair off, so the gal at the desk booked me in with Nelly. Nelly is dope AF, listened to me rambling on about my life, hopes and dreams...but most importantly, about how I wanted my hair. When Nelly was done, I knew they were going to be the only person cutting my hair for the foreseeable future despite the fact that I live over 500 miles away in California. I started coming here after meeting the owner outside of their old location, and trusting his staff with my hair has been an amazing decision. My current stylist is Crystal, and she's taken amazing care of me. I gave her my trust, and she gave me a haircut that suits me so well I've gotten several compliments on it from everyone surrounding me-- friends, family, and strangers. She also made sure to walk me through everything she was doing, and what her plan with my cut was every step of the way. Originally was scheduled with another stylist but was rescheduled with Naomi and we are beaming with gratitude!! Brittany Huntridge is a gem. I've been looking for a hair artist (one that has ideas and doesn't just go with the basics) and have had no luck in Las Vegas! She was awesome, listened to my confusing wants and said I got you. We went with something I never would have even thought of and I love love love it. Finally a place with skilled people! We moved to Henderson in 2021 and I have been to FIVE different salons, feeling "meh" or "ok" with my cut, but not totally happy. I keep my hair short, in a textured bob, sometimes with an undercut, changing the style/length a little sometimes. Dee did exactly what I wanted and was super nice to work with. She kept checking in with me and asking my preference on things. If you have short hair and need a talented stylist, she is it! My wife had her hair cut (a short fade) by Nelly, and loves it. On a whim I found the lovely Kyle Hickman at Makeshift Union. On my first visit I was simply coming in for a haircut. She did a fantastic job, so we chatted a bit about a color refresh (I had been using box dye for ages ). I told her how much I'd love something more sassy and with dimension. She went to work creating this masterpiece on my head! I have never experienced a color melt/balayage before, but it's truly like a artist painting on a canvas! She even showed me how to make these beautiful beach waves on my hair! She was amazing and I walked out feeling like a million bucks! I wish I could award more then 5 stars to this salon, because it really is that fantastic. The salon's décor is nostalgic but not in a stuffy or overdone way. I would describe it as old school Americana but with a fresh eclectic vibe. A fantastic collection of classic and contemporary rock plays in the background completing the overall vibe. This colorful, unique spot stands out in a sea of impersonal, white washed, cookie cutter salons. The talent at this salon is impressive as well. Personally I recommend Daniel Bacon. He gave me a killer blunt bob while I enjoyed a complimentary Miller High Life (the champagne of beers baby!). While in the chair I noticed an equal mix of men and women circulating through the other seats and loved seeing the other stylists in action as well. This place is filled with some serious talent. I do not often write reviews though I use Yelp a lot, and found Makeshift Union and this Veronika via Yelp. There are simply not enough stars nor enough adjectives to describe how talented, kind, and amazing she is. Do you want hair that still looks incredible 4-5 weeks after your appointment? That you can do yourself at home without spending $$$$ on supplies? Do you want a stylist who really *really* listens to you? Do you want a stylist who is meticulous, focused and detail-oriented? Do you want to go to a salon that is a little boho/funky/odd/comfortable without crappy music and pretentious people? Do you want to sit in a salon chair that is incredibly comfy? And have a beer if you care to have one? If yes - do yourself a solid and come here. I have been to Veronika 3 times now for color and cut - I am in my mid 40s, have curly/frizzy/wavy hair on the reddish brown spectrum. I spend a LOT of time outside in the sun, for fun and for work - so keeping up with red is hard to do. It is a very long story about how I came to see her originally, a few months ago - but not only did she repair/restore my hair to a more professional, sleek look, she made me feel super comfortable. The color lasted so well! I went back, she did a nice trim and that is shaped nicely and looks great even if I hardly do anything to it. SO MANY COMPLIMENTS! Weird, right? Today I came in for my third visit - she makes me feel like I've been there forever, but in a good way. She offered a suggestion to brighten up the color, as it had faded after 6 weeks of my lifestyle - I readily agreed and trusted her intuition. I am so glad I did - it's a little different than before but is even better (which I didn't think was possible). Use the Yelp address to find free 2 hour parking, then go around the building to find the entrance. Had I just walked by, I would have thought this masculine-industrial space was a barbershop, exclusively shearing the males of Vegas. My regular hair stylist, Tayler, recently moved here. She's the only one I trust with my tresses. The salon takes walk-ins and sells an interesting variety of products, from beard balms and various grooming goods for guys to a long line of EOS conditioners.
