She was still pregnant in my memory since last time in Hong Kong, and after few years she is back for holiday with the nearly four-year-old girl. Living in the island under the sovereignty of France, not to mention the girl can speak basic French, also is full of French character. Similar to many western children (and different from typical Hong Kong kids), my friend's daughter is friendly and curious to everything. She is independent, like to explore the city and enjoy outdoor. To help the girl keep learning and revise French, my friend brings her to French Touch child playgroup, and she gives a big thumb to this school. From what she says, the teachers are all native French and they can organize small class. The school understands student and the lesson suits her girl - just pick up and revise basic French, not to give too much pressures and assignment. I really like her kid, she is smart, easy going and super positive, I just wish more kids in Hong Kong can enjoy learning language rather than be forced to study.

I know a lot of people come all the way to our campus just to enjoy the view and we attract a lot of passionate photographers to do photo shoots here. Yes, I am proud. Why should I not be? One of the best buildings on campus is our huge library, featuring five floors with reading areas and learning commons. What's so special about our library? Well, we have a massive amount of learning materials and the learning common is open 24 hours. So, students can stay there all day, all night. Most importantly, the best part of the library has to be its breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding sea. It's no doubt that students get pretty stressed during finals and you can see them working really hard in the library all the time. However, the view from the library just makes everything better. Just take a look at the beautiful sea or even catch the sunset before you die in piles of books and you will suddenly feel good again. I am already missing the library...

The kids classes run 45 minutes long. Why I love Twinkle: 1. They let you "make up" missed classes within the session. This is very nice especially sometimes you have vacation planned or your little one is sick. 2. They don't make you buy their uniform for their younger class. Let's face it, some of the kids may lose interest after a session or two. It's a huge burden if you have to invest in the outfit if they end up only attending a few classes. When the kids get serious and attend classes at age 7,8 - then yes, they do request that you buy the uniform. 3. They have an annual production that allows the kids to perform on stage. The good thing is that this is not mandatory. 4. In the pre-ballet classes, there are 2 teachers. One will be lead and the other will help correct the form and help the students along. They are friendly, engaging and we love Miss Rosie and Miss Jess! My daughter loves going to Twinkle!

It's a place where I both love and hate…read more I love the environment, I love the campus; yet i hate hate HATE the inconvenience of the traffic. With the four years I spent exploring this campus, CUHK is definitely a university unlike all the others in Hong Kong. The first impression of CUHK would very likely be the vastness of the campus; with buildings scattered all over this hills, it takes more than a year for freshers to get familiar with the campus. More commonly heard is that some students in their 2nd or 3rd year still have yet to completely explore the campus. The scenery of CU is also beyond compare especially when you go all the way up to the peak of the hill (i.e. NA and UC college); rumor has it that the famous Sir Run Run Shaw has his villa looking over to the same scenery as that you see from CU, believe it or not but it sure is breath taking. I would very much like the campus remain as is, but development is inevitable due to the recent change in education system. The once spacious hillside is now dotted with buildings; I miss seeing the large pieces of greens afar, miss the spaciousness of the campus. Nonetheless, the recently developments do make lives for new students a lot more convenient. There are always two sides in a token whether you like it or not; for us "old ghosts", it really takes time for us to get use to the changes. We aren't being called old for nothing~
