It has got to be the best years of my entire life. I was fortunate enough to be in one of the best universities in Hong Kong (well probably excluding the fact that now it probably shares the same reputation as the Shenzhen one. Thanks a lot.) I have never thought that I would fall in love with a place so much that til now, from time to time, I will still go back and take a walk down the memory lane for a bit.
Before I got in, people always compare students here wearing flip-flops and pajamas to go to lecture, which is part of the CUHK culture. (True I have seen quite a lot... ) But its down-to-earth is what draws people in, not super fancy with unreachable attitude. Since it has more than nine colleges now and unfortunately there were only five when I graduated, I could only comment on what I know... Chung Chi college is located at the bottom of the hill and it has a rather scenic view because of the Weiyuen Lake and the Glass Chapel, it always had so many students falling down on its steep terrain on their way down to the MTR station; Shaw college back then was the one of the newest college and its canteen served the best curry (I heard now it closed); The United college has the observatory deck where you can sneak in and lie on the floor counting stars (and also the worst canteen); The New Asia has the Pavilion of Harmony and one of the best hostel views.
It is fairly difficult to pin point what I like best but what I can say is I had so much good memory there; and for those who are not a student, CUHK still has the best views among all the other universities here in Hong Kong in my opinion. And let's face it, where else can you take a school bus to go to lecture in a university? read more
