Also due to the coolness, the style appeals strongly to young dance beginners resulting in the predominantly young students of the studio. Offering a wide rage of dance styles from the more popular Hip Hop and Jazz funk to contemporary and Ballroom, SD believes that dancing is for everyone and anyone can dance. Located in an industrial building in Fortress Hill, a large space is reserved for the 2 dance studios for dance classes to take place. Normal dance classes hold around 20 or so people whereas during big events such as dance festival, in which renowned tutors and dancer abroad are invited to give classes in HK, the rooms could pack up to 50 people! Earlier classes start at 17:30 where as most classes start 19:00 and 20:30 catering to the working population, SD would be your another option other than hitting the gym and lifting dumbbells. The energetic dance moves not only will make you sweat, but will make you a star on the dance floor as well~ Just a side note, the couches outside of the studios are quite ideal for a quick nap and indeed many students often do too before the classes start; but if manners are in concern, I would suggest not to do so.

This arts Center provides different kinds of arts performances, like sculpture and photography exhibition, visual arts, and performing arts. Tou can see all these arts performance or exhibition in those presentation spaces and venues. I also watch lots of independent films here, like some documentary and young directors' first work. I am impressed by the seats in agnès b. CINEMA. This cinema is not that big, but the interesting thing is you can see lots of names on the back of the seats. It is because, it is a funding scheme called "Name a Chair", seeking support for the renovation and equipment update of the cinema.It is a 5-year chair naming scheme.If you have money and want to give some support, then you can consider to join this project. Regardless, Hong Kong does provide quite a few opportunities for those who are passionate about arts and culture. (It is the mentality of the mass that is difficult to change). The Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) is located at Wanchai which promotes contemporary arts, visual arts, or arts education. Because of the convenient location, there are quite a lot of students coming here after school to learn musical instruments or read some books here. Once you walk in, you may see quite a lot of artworks on display at the Jockey Club Atrium. Apart from that, below the ground floor you may also find studios (The McAulay Studio for example), theatres (agnès b. Cinema) and offices owned by international or local art organizations. The tower is consisted of fifteen floors and there are galleries, restaurats, a language centre or even a cinema. The best part of this place is the Pao Galleries where it hosts year-round art exhibitions. Over the years, it has held quite a number of programmes including the Art Walk every year. With the opening of Art Basel earlier this year, I can guarantee you that Hong Kong soon will not be called as a desert for arts and culture. If you would like to know more about this place, the arts on display or even the programmes, you may also join the guided tour (both English and Chinese), the tour lasts around an hour and it is completely free of charge. Inside, lies a quiet little art gallery. If you work in the area, I invite you to come in on your lunch break, relax, and enjoy a zen moment to refresh your mind before jumping back into the fray. Hong Kongers are often trapped in a perpetual grind. Due to crazy high real estate prices, people have to work a lot of overtime and multiple jobs to pay for a very tiny flat. Often, the higher paying jobs are on Hong Kong island while the low cost housing is far away in the new territories. Commuting 3 to 4 hours a day and working long hours results in a daily grind with zero free time. You come home after a long day at work, a long commute, crash onto your bed, then, as soon as you open your eyes, the grind starts all over again. Hong Kong is full of opportunities, but only for those creative and resourceful enough to get out of the grind. The fringe club is full of that creative vibe. For example, I went to a performance there by a musical group, "Western District", which is not a performance of catchy tunes you can listen to on your commute for the daily grind. It is, rather, a musical workshop where the musicians are experimenting and testing the boundaries of just exactly what is music. What is a piano? What is the boundary between melody and cacophany? How do you play a piano? Their experimentive spirit, your discussion with the artists and other patrons during the intermission just might be that creative spark that starts your fire that eventually burns down your daily grind. You must challenge what is, in order to build what will be. P.S. Honestly, I really didn't "get it" and, thus, didn't enjoy my experience at The Fringe Club. I enjoy old world craftsmanship such as Renaissance art or Ming Dynasty Imperial porcelain. I don't "get" abstract art such as Kandinsky. I enjoy listening to Mozart or Chopin played by a pianist who has slaved for years to perfect his/her performance. I don't "get" the group, Western District, which performed abstract "music" such as a German guy reciting German poetry whilst an Opera singer alternately sang and whimpered like a puppy with a pianist playing randomly by pounding on the piano with a shower curtain rod. However, everyone else there seemed to really enjoy themselves. Their performance was packed with people paying 180 HKD to listen to them perform whilst standing up because they ran out of seating space! Hence, the positive review with 4 stars even though I wanted to give it 1 star. The most difficult reviews to write are positive reviews of stuff you really didn't enjoy. LOL!

The location is convenient and right next to Lan Kwai Fong, where you can go for a drink after the shows. The place is a bit cozy and far from state of the art, but I appreciate it for what it does and think that it does it pretty well.

Since I live on the island side, i have to wait here overnight until the box office is open. Aside of that, the rehearsal room on the 10th floor is also a place i visit often. With the mirror and barre installed, it is quite perfect for dance rehearsals to take place. However, since the location is rather convenient and the price is insanely low when compared to studios of similar sort, you have to book in advance and compete against other applicants in speed in order to place your booking. They do all the greatest hits from Lion King, including circle of life, hakuna matata, etc. - fully in English, but with comedic Cantonese translation so foreigners can enjoy - diverse, multi-ethnic cast ! They're beautiful - air conditioned venue - show runs 5+ times a day, recommend downloading the HK Disney app so you can see show times. - THERE ARE ENOUGH SEATS and honestly there are no bad seats!!!! The cast does really well turning around and rotating so there's camera moments for every person in the venue Cons: - be prepared for the crowd to unnecessarily stampede into the venue when doors open. If you move slow, I recommend you wait for everyone to come in/leave before you try - however line up early, because even if you come in a few minutes after the show time starts they don't let more people in This experience was 10/10, this will be the number 1 thing I recommend to people coming to the park. Festival of the Lion King (or FOLK, as Cast Members call it) is a truly excellent production within…read moreAdventureland at Hong Kong Disneyland. The show retells the "legend" of the Lion King with key numbers from the classic film. The production makes use of large floats, unique costumes, and interesting specialty acts. The show is a must-see while you are in the park, if only to give your feet a break and get in to the air-conditioning. The queue starts forming nearly 45 minutes before the show begins. If you want your pick of a seat, get to the line at least 30 minutes ahead of the show. Don't mind the stampede from the "rope drop" to the theater doors - that's pretty normal. I like to go for the top row, since no one else wants it, so I get some much-needed personal space for a while, along with a wall to rest my back against. The show itself is great, with wonderful performers with all kinds of talents. I was a little disappointed that some of the arrangements seemed to be dumbed down a bit - high notes were brought down an octave, etc. Some of the performers seemed more than capable of singing the original version, while others... not so much. So I understand their need to make it a bit easier for all talents, but it also reduced the wow factor of the performance. One thing I found culturally odd and took away from the performance: the audience didn't seem all that interesting in participating. They didn't really cheer, or yell, or sing along, or anything really. There was so much energy on the stage and the audience was giving so little back. It felt awkward for me; definitely different than performances of this show in the U.S. At the end of the show, all of the floats comes to center and rotate around, so if you happen to be facing the back side of a float, don't fear: you'll have that photo op. The floats remain there as you exit. And a fun tip: Simba can hear you! Feel free to shout up to him and he might just respond (not vocally, but still). I enjoyed the show, and highly recommend you take time out of your day to see it!
