Yet another famous name in the dance society of Hong Kong, BCDC, an acronym for Billy Chan Dance Concept, was established in 1999 and is one of the earliest dance studios that teaches street dance and introduce this art form into universities.
Recently moved from its original address in Prince Edward to Kwai Chung, from the location point of view it sure seems less convenient; however, personally I think it is very well justified as the new studio is definitely more spacious than the previous one. Better still, you can even take a shower after dance classes so you don't really have to walk out from the studio all sweaty and stinky. It sure is a blessing for people sweaty as I am in a hot summer day.
The courses offered by BCDC are pretty standard, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Contemporary...you name them; but for people who are interested in more technical training, Billy's technique classes could very much meet their expectations. Another point to note is that the Hip Hop classes of BCDC are less choreography oriented; the tutors stress heavily on the foundation of Hip Hop which for beginners, would be a good starting point. Should you wish to learn dance routines, I would suggest jazz funk, street jazz and urban dance.
I would say the atmosphere of BCDC is quite different from other dance studios; it is more cozy and relaxing; I dare say you will feel pretty much at home if you are a regular there. So if you are looking for a more "chillax" type of studio to start dancing, BCDC will certainly be the right place. read more
