I have been waiting for my items for almost 2 months now and all the store was able to tell me is that if I cancel the order there is going to be a very expensive 30% reversal fee plus shipping costs. On their website when you land on the product's pages, they still say that it will ship in between 2-4 weeks, and if they are determined to blame the issues on COVID like they predictably did, at least they should change the shipping information on their website so that people can manage their expectations and decide NOT to buy if it's not guaranteed within a timeframe. There's much more in this store that I wanted to buy, but given the inability to manage their shipment and their customers expectations, I won't be buying here again. Save yourself a headache and buy somewhere else. read more

Maker and Moss has amazing furniture, but they partnered with Metropolitan Delivery for S&H, which is a major failure. Metropolitan has 1.5 stars on yelp (LOL), and is the source of all frustration ordering from M&M. I won't be ordering furniture again from here just because of my terrible experience with shipping. I'm beginning to love rainy days because it's given me a good excuse to check out the unique shops in our neighborhood! Maker and Moss is one of those places -- it's a little hard to find as it's tucked inside the same building as Schulzies bread pudding. But it's worth a peek inside! I love their recycled wine bottle collection in the back of the store. It's a great way to showcase terrariums and house plants. The carafes and glasses are functional and cool. And friendly service staff too. They are there to answer questions, but they also let you roam around the shop so you can enjoy the unique pieces on your own. read more

Several months ago I was at Maker & Moss and noticed some nice textile wall art hanging behind the register. Sadly, they were priced at $650 each. I decided that was too much. I was able to hunt down the company that makes that artwork. Turns out the Maker & Moss is getting them for $200 each. So that's a 350% markup. I ended up ordering them direct and saved nearly $900. An absolutely amazing store! The owner Matt is nothing but pure delight to work with! His staff - Tessa and Cindy are two strong women who stand behind the product and represent the store excellently when Matt is taking care of making sure that product is delivered timely and in tact! I feel very fortunate to have bought several gorgeous pieces of well priced (and I believe long lasting) furniture from Maker & Moss. Matt, the owner, was a gentleman and so easy to work with. Last year, my wife and I searched and searched for a dining table. When we found it we decided to purchase through a brick and mortar merchant rather than online. We found several shops in Bay Area that worked with the manufacturer but decided on Maker and Moss. We had several hiccups with delivery and damage that were in no way Maker and Moss' fault. BUT, Maker and Moss dealt with them diligently and us kindly in a time of severe stress with such supply chain, transportation and communication adversity. Thanks Matt and your team. read more

I soooo deeply regret ever buying from this company. Impossible to get in contact, they failed to give my info to the delivery company so they had to keep reaching out to them to get the delivery address. Needless to say they had to keep my chair for almost the weeks until they were able to deliver. And don't get me started on YRC freight and shipping. I love shopping on Hayes and have been loyal to Hayes for decades. I don't know why I never popped into Maker & Moss until yesterday. So glad I did! As others have said its a slightly hard to find, or notice, treasure. But when you do, you'll be hooked. The merch is divine. Everything is presented beautifully - there's a lot to look at, but it's far from a jumble. I bought a paper pad of place mats with a whimsical owl motif. I also got a journal/diary with bunnies on the cover ( note my profile photo! ) I had such a great time chatting with Glen (Glenn?) Maker & Moss is charming and inspiring. I love this store. It is one of the few stores that know how to balance rustic, modern, and organic styles together. There are couple of lamps that can almost be steampunk and artistic. This combination works in this store. The staff has always been nice and friendly which is huge for me,especially if you have read my other reviews. The selection of dinnerware is really nice and so are the accessories. There are always fun new things to look at and the prices are really good. This is a store that believes in quality and not some put it together particle board kind of place. I have bought several gifts for friends that have been well received. read more

Which is bull, now I'm stuck with a gift card for some trinket store that I don't want anything from. Any store without a full return policy is outright lame. Maya is a darling. Regardless if I'm there to buy something (1 out of 10 times) or just admiring their displays she is very welcoming and full of sunshine. This last visit I came in looking for a gift and she was in the middle of entertaining 3 young children while the parent could freely shop around. I'm hoping to resolve an issue with an online order, but this is currently my impression of the customer service. I placed an order online for pick up. Since I don't live too far, I decided to pop in the store to see if my order was ready a week after placing the order. It wasn't, but what bothered me was the carelessness of the employee who told me he had it on his mind to contact me but didn't get around to it. I don't mind a long lead time for an order, but there isn't much of an excuse to wait a week to get in touch with a customer. I told him I understood that it may not be ready yet but asked if I could have an estimated date and he said he would get that to me ASAP this week. It's Thursday, nearly one week after I was assured I would get an email, and still no email. I honestly believe if I didn't come into the store, I would still have no email in my inbox. I really would like the merchandise still and am hoping they will do what they can to make up for such disappointing customer service, otherwise I will be canceling my order and supporting other local businesses who make contacting customers a high priority. read more

I've shopped at Maker & Moss a few times before. And I agree with the other reviews that this store has very cute merchandise. This is precisely why I popped by today, on an absolutely goregous sunny day, no less. Much to my surprise and distaste, the attitude in there was over the top!! Only certain patrons of a certain demographic were greeted at the door and offered wine, cheese and crackers for an interior decorating event. I was altogether ignored. I walked around for about 20 minutes and even purchased a few items (which I now regret). The cashier took my credit card, swiped it without telling me the total charge and seemed truly annoyed when I asked. What on earth? I felt extremely unwelcome and disrespected and I will not patronize this store again. read more
