I tried this place out a few times because it's very convenient--I think I had three different barbers--and eventually went elsewhere. It's hard to schedule with a barber or know their prices, the quality of haircut is pretty low, and the barbers seem much less interested in giving you a good haircut than in chatting with one another. We love this place for teen haircuts! The only place my young men want to go to. Wish they had a teen discount as now t they are paying $35 out of their own pockets plus tip. And wish there were more appointments available but they wait until the week before they need a haircut. So sometimes they don't get to see their regular barber. Great place. I really enjoy coming to the Ardmore location for a quality haircut from these guys! They make you feel instantly at home with their set up. I recommend these guys to all of my friends who are need of a haircut, however a reservation is definitely needed to really guarantee you get a haircut. I have gotten my haircut by multiple individuals -- Chase and Dustin are definitely solid barbers and excel at their craft. They really put me at ease when I sit in the chair and can fully relax as they are experts and know best. They take their time and really listen to what style of haircut I want and even make good suggestions to improve the look of the cut. They treat all of their customers with respect and that's all I could really ask for with a barber. The barbershop is always highly maintained and is set up really nicely with decorations. Haircuts generally cost around $28, which is a little more than what I paid at my previous barber however the quality is worth the extra price as you are paying for exceptional service and a quality cut that will have heads turning while you continue with your day. I went here for the first time and got the worst haircut of my life. Correction. The *longest* worst haircut of my life. What was meant to be a 30 min in and out, maybe a bit longer bc I was also getting my beard trimmed turned into 1 hr 5 mins. My beard got totally jacked too. I went in for a normal haircut, tight on the sides, longer on top is how I describe it and show the barber how I part it. The barber ended up essentially giving half my head a buzz cut and the other half looked like a normal boys cut. It was so bad I actually had to laugh about it once I left. The other barbers were goofing on my barber towards the end bc they all knew he messed up and was taking too long. My beard was also not evenly trimmed. I felt so bad for this barber who was a nice guy and did care, that I ended up giving him a $15 tip. I know I know why do that for the worst haircut of my life? I just felt bad for the dude! I ended up calling the shop the next day to just tell the owner about my experience and whether there was anything they could do ie free haircut or refund. However let's be real I really wanted a refund as I'm not local and I had no desire to go back into a place that gave me a haircut that looked like a blind man w a weedwacker did on me. I was nice and polite as I spoke to the owner and said these things happen etc. He said on the phone all he could do was give me a free haircut. I followed up with an email a few days later as I really had no desire to go back and asked for a refund but the owner said he couldn't give a refund and gave no real explanation as to why. Poor customer service. It's clear they don't care about customer service as this page isn't even claimed by the business! Pretty wild I couldn't get refunded, especially after I left the barber a generous pity tip. I won't be coming back and I recommend others to avoid. read more

Was in town visiting family, but did have to go to a meeting one day. In need of a cut before the meeting, and staying with a friend in Manayunk I was searching up and down for a barber opened on a Monday last minute. I was able to get in here with the apprentice. While hesitant at first, I figured it can't be worse than going to a sports clips, and apprentices need someone to work on. Dustin gave me a great cut, and more importantly listened to what I wanted early on, and requested constant feedback. The other barbers checked in a few times to make sure everything was in line. All barbers on site seemed skilled and the shop had a good vibe. read more

Took me right in at the appointed time. Bryan asked a lot of questions about what I was looking for. When he was finished and I saw the result, I was nothing but happy! Great cut! I've had my fair share of poor haircuts in my life, so i do my homework prior to selecting a new barbershop or when i'm in dire need of a haircut while traveling. I elected to go to Make Your Mark based on the reviews and i was not disappointed. One of the apprentices, Anthony, had an opening, and while i did have to wait for about 20 minutes upon my arrival, and despite the haircut itself taking about 35 minutes (long time for a skin-fade and a trim up top) it was definitely one of the best haircuts i've gotten in years. Anthony took his time, made sure i was okay and in agreement with what he was doing, and asked other barbers for advice and their opinions during the process. I was also impressed by the atmosphere of the shop (seems like just a bunch of friends from college who decided to open up a shop and who enjoy being around each other (also they're great at cutting hair)) and the conversations regarding sports etc. Whenever I'm in the Philadelphia area this will be my go-to spot. Props to Anthony and thank you to Make Your Mark. Also, all the barbers in the shop had great haircuts, which usually means you're in a good shop. Keep up the great work! read more

Just went in yesterday, March 30, 2018 to get my rather long hair chopped off. Great experience! Firstly, the shop is a really tidy-looking spot, going for a classic barbershop feel but with a few modern elements. Four chairs in the place, with a comfy waiting couch and a few chairs along the front windows, which offer a nice amount of natural light. I was a little early for my appointment, so I was offered some whiskey while I waited. Very nice touch, indeed, for those of us old enough to enjoy an adult beverage. Chase had the task of lopping off my long curls (I'd been letting it go for over two years), and he took to it like a pro, even banding it off and offering to donate it for me. From there, he proceeded to do fine work in tapering the sides and back into a smooth blend into my now-shortened hair on top. He took his time, was careful, and did excellent work. Getting a nice straight razor shave on the back of the neck is maybe one of my favorite parts of a haircut, and they provide. Probably the best haircut I've had in ages, even going back to when I was keeping my hair short. Adding to the entire experience was how both Chase and the other barber working that day (Mark, if I remember his name correctly) made me and the few other patrons in the place feel completely welcome. They're both amicable guys who seem to enjoy having some conversation with their customers, which is always welcome. On top of everything, I find the prices very reasonable for this area, in which a standard men's haircut tends to run between $20 and $25. I'll definitely be going back in a couple of weeks, and this is almost certainly my new barbershop. read more

I've been going to Make Your Mark, both in Ardmore and Yunk, for four years. I've gotten cuts from every barber, my only regret is not going more often to keep my cuts fresh. Lower Merion has a severe lack of good barbers my entire life. Make Your Mark is a tremendous addition to an area where the choices have been limited to horrible corporate chains (Supercuts & Hair Cuttery), one man/woman operations (none of whom I found to be particularly good or personable) or subpar barbers at shops where their goal is to get you in and out as quickly as possible. Both Mark and Chase are highly skilled barbers and the growth of this shop since they opened less than a year ago is a reflection of their skill and level of professionalism. I had initially started going to Make Your Mark when I was working in Manayunk and was really happy when Mark decided to open in Ardmore. I just took my REALLY difficult 18 month old son in for his first haircut. Jay cut his hair and made us feel SO welcome and did not make us feel like a burden even though our kid was screaming bloody murder (had nothing to do with Jay...just my kid). Jay managed to give my son an amazing haircut despite my son's noncooperation. I could not have asked for a better experience (or expected one, given my son's temperament). Walk-ins on Tuesdays have increased to the normal $23 ever since my first cut last year -- but it is definitely worth it! I intend on coming here more often. The barbers have great personalities, they consistently give great cuts, and there is a phenomenal overall vibe to this shop! I've had great fades/trims by both Chase and TJ, and never had a problem! I really recommend coming here, especially since the shops around are either corporate chains with below-average barbers or are necessarily overpriced. Looking forward to my next cut. read more
