The staff is extremely friendly and professional. If you are looking for a great cut go to Jody but I am 100% sure that the rest of the staff is just as great. Jody hooks me up with advice and product recommendations when requested. His skills are second to none when it comes to cutting hair. Part of getting the executive cut is having your hair shampooed and conditioned, which I had never experienced before coming to MENtality. They also provide numerous other services as well such as straight razor shaves, waxing, beard trims, and etc. If you are a man and live in Chester County then MENtality is the place to go. As soon as I moved in I knew I was destined to book an appointment and give it a review. What proved harder was scheduling said appointment before the holidays. But it was a lot easier to before my birthday, and in the end, it lead to me discovering what might very well be my new salon of choice (at least for suburbia). Professionalism and good conversation shone throughout starting with the first phone call that I did to schedule an appointment, And I liked how their pricing system varied between both the services needed and the experience level of their stylists. Another plus for me was how they had nights with later hours than most salons in the area which was perfect for someone like me who works further away during the day. Not only was Lauren a professional stylist who listened and delivered on my preferences, but she also carried on a great conversation throughout. I definitely enjoyed talking about everything from my artist friends' work being on their wall, to life in the Main Line and then some since they also used to be located in Narberth for a brief while. Brie was my stylist; she assessed the health of my hair & scalp as part of the consultation & we discussed why I wanted a trim. Since my hair was freshly washed, she only deep conditioned & detangled my hair (I have long hair & serious shrinkage). The conditioner left my hair feeling hydrated & soft. Brie asked if it was okay to trim my hair while wet, which I really appreciated because I dislike using heat on my hair. A leave-in conditioner was applied to each section of my hair prior to trimming. The trim was done with a wide tooth comb & I opted for layers. We decided on how much should be cut together. In order to prevent my hair from shrinking up again, Brie offered to put my hair into large 2-stand twists, which was generous of her since I only booked for a trim & no styling. I accepted; my shrinkage is insane! The atmosphere of the salon is very relaxing. It smells nice, there's good music & appropriate conversation. My appointment lasted about 1.5 hours & the cost of my service was VERY affordable considering how much hair is on my head. The day after my appointment, I lightly detangled on damp hair, applied a styling butter & put my hair into smaller 2-stand twists in preparation for a twist out.
