Vada Layan was hired for make up sessions for which she asked for $1000 up front. After 3 sessions worth $375, she would not refund the rest of the services despite not rendering them. I am confused as to why she is in business: is it to take advantage of clients and unfairly take their money, or to truly serve them and their needs? A law suit was filed against Vada Layan and she proceeded to evade responsibility by suddenly moving out of state and changing her last name. Her behavior was truly disgusting in lacking ethics and I am so happy I will never deal personally, without an attorney, with Make It POP again. I am glad I dismissed my suit to give it over to an attorney who will take care of this matter if a refund for services is not received. This company lacks ethics as demonstrated by the behavior of this make up artist: immoral behavior of a company that needs reporting to the Better Business Bureau. I will see how to proceed in accordance with this company's rectification of the matter and a full refund of the services. read more

I hired Katie to do airbrush makeup for my 7.9.17 wedding in La Jolla and I'm so glad I did. Aside from doing an amazing job, which she did, she is also really great to be around. She is very relaxed, professional, kind, and efficient! She showed up on time (which was super early...we started getting ready at 7:00 a.m.) and was able to do 8 people's makeup, ages 20 - 69, and stay on, if not ahead of the schedule set by my wedding coordinator. She has a great personality, and helps light up a room while keeping everyone comfortable. She got along with my other vendors, and helped create a really fun environment to get ready in, which is really important. She also came dressed beautifully, which is important because she will be in your getting ready photographs, which she is clearly aware of! More about the makeup: Katie was able to keep our makeup natural looking, which was important to me, since no one in my wedding party wears a lot of makeup on a daily basis. Perhaps most impressively, she was able to apply makeup on my 20 year old sister-in-law, who had never had her makeup done before and was super apprehensive about having her makeup done as she doesn't like other people touching her face, and especially her eyes. Katie was calm and patient with my sister-in-law and really spoke to her about what she wanted and what she didn't want. Katie took the time to make sure my sister-in-law was comfortable with the process. Katie did a wonderful job and my sister-in-law was so excited with the result, as she had never seen herself all done up before. Katie also seamlessly applied false eyelashes, which can be tricky for people who have never worn them before, like my mom, but make such a difference in pictures. My mom was really happy with the result. I can't recommend Katie enough. Her rates are very reasonable and our makeup lasted all day and night, despite the warm weather, with no touch ups needed. As said above, we started getting ready at 7 a.m. and the last picture in the photo booth (attached) was taken at about 10:45 p.m. The makeup still looks great! Hire Katie for airbrush. Betty is a champ! She never even complained once. She drove over an hour to tan me on the Friday before my photos (photoshoot was Saturday) My tan was flawless, I have been personal airbrushed a million times but she kept rolling out my tan because with the heat it was literally melting off.
