11/3/25 - After leaving this review along with a strongly worded email, I was contacted by the office manager. She was very apologetic. Although I will not return to the practice, I must admit it was nice to hear ownership of my experience. I removed my Google review but Yelp, asked if I would instead just update my review. So this is the update. It wasn't the right location for me. Whitney is who I had the horrible experience with an ultimately why I left the practice. Office in huber doesnt answer phones, doesn't reply to text messages that you are told to send and I was just cancelled for the 2nd time due to hygenists family or personal issues. each time THEY cancel me its 3-6 months out to reschedule. Havent been cleaned in over a year then they wanna make you feel bad about it when you do finally get cleaned.. I have great dental insurance and yet each time i pay my coinsurance after my procedures and they bill me more anyway.... done with them and changing to aspen dental. read more

In December of 2023 I went to Dr. Makapugay because I needed a new set of dentures. The office was clean, I didn't have a long wait to be called back, and most of the staff was friendly. In January of 2024, I received the dentures after being fitted a couple of times. The upper denture looked like a chipmunk's front teeth even though I sent my old upper so the person making the dentures would have a model and would be able to see the sizes of my teeth but it was completely ignored. The bottom denture wouldn't stay snapped on my implants and literally rocked in my mouth by jumping up on the opposite side of where I would bite. I asked that they be remade and the dentist refused even though he literally rocked the denture in my mouth. After several complaints, Dr. Makapugay told me he would totally refund the $4000+ if I left the dentures or he would give me half of my money back if I took the dentures. I did leave the top denture but I needed a bottom so I took it w/me. A week later, after his office manager came back to the office, I received half the money for the upper and zero for the bottom. After a couple of phone calls I finally received the full fee of $1255 for the upper but his office manager decided I was getting nothing back for the lowers. Last night my lower denture, that is only 8 months old, cracked while I was chewing gum. I called Mak Dental this morning to get it repaired and they refused. They told me to go to a prosthodontist because they would be able to make me happier. I still owe over $2000 to the Mak Dental Group for a faulty denture that they refuse to repair. I am 72 years old with social security as my only income and no dental insurance because Medicare doesn't pay for dental. I can't get this lower denture repaired until I have this $2000+ paid off. Their dentures have no warranty and they will only repair them up to 6 months of the purchase because 1. Dr. Makapugay said he has never heard of a denture breaking while chewing (this is literally the second time it has happened to me.) and 2. His office manager said they wouldn't be able to tell if the denture was faulty or whether I dropped and broke it myself. She is the one who told me I was at a reputable office and I didn't have to worry about paying IN FULL for the dentures before they would work on making them; even Aspen and Afford a Denture have warranties on their dentures. Years ago, Dr. Mak provided thoughtful care, offering options and addressing my concerns with respect. In stark contrast, Dr. Strassor's dismissive attitude left me unheard and undervalued. Despite my repeated requests for a partial denture and a crown--minimally invasive solutions that would preserve my natural teeth at age 36--he insisted on full dentures, ignoring my preferences entirely. Over three visits spanning six months, he refused to consider alternatives, even neglecting to address a broken tooth, pushing instead for immediate dentures as a quick fix. This felt like a callous attempt to maximize profit with minimal effort, leaving me without any progress or resolution. Dr. Strassor's disregard for my needs wasted my time and eroded my trust, offering no meaningful care or compassion. I have lost faith in the Dental profession and don't even want to go again to be judged and ignored like that. This was at the Eaton Location. Yes, my insurance would cover a partial. I have teeth that I can hang 5 5-pound weight off of; no reason for him to take all of them. I hope one day someone treats him the way he treated me. read more

I would Like to shout from the mountain tops about how much I love MAK DENTAL! I find myself damaging my own teeth just to get a visit with the best Dental staff in Troy Ohio!! The clinical staff is outstanding. Every Dentist is a pro! Don't get me started on the Front Desk Engineers. They could not be any friendlier or more helpful!! When you go in there you leave with a pep in your step! Great vibes with the music, comedy show upon checking in or out, Best of all my smile has never been better! This is not JUST a dental office! I had a great experience at MAK Dental Group. The front office staff was very kind and professional. I was able to get in pretty quickly and they took time to account for my personal and medical needs before beginning work on me. I had to get a cleaning and fillings done. Dr. Misra and Ally did a wonderful job. They made sure I was comfortable and I left the dentist feeling better than I have at all of my previous dental providers. Terrible experiences every time. I was asked to leave a review private to them, and there was an option to be "followed up with regarding your review". I clicked yes and they never reached out to make it right, so I will share my experiences with all. I had a bridge and this office used temporary glue instead of permanent because he was concerned about a possible need of a root canal (which I later learned was unnecessary as they can do a root canal through the bridge). When they told me I did not need a root canal, but they could not remove the bridge from the temporary glue in order to use permanent glue, so I left with my temporary glue still in use. Some time later, the glue failed and my bridge came off. My bridge would then not fit back on, and I had to pay full price to have another bridge made. So now I am in ~$3,500 on one procedure. When they re made the temporary bridge for the second go around, the assistant said they ran out of the material needed to make the temp bridges, and they gave me the worst thing ever that was cutting into my gums and hurt terribly. I couldn't sleep for weeks. Mak agreed to have me come in to have it looked at, and then he canceled my appointment for a family emergency. Then when my next appointment comes around, the dental assistant tries to remove my old crown on the opposite side of my mouth (this story is next) and I stop her and tell her she is working on the wrong tooth after she was trying to yank it off of the wrong tooth... and she said "I know, I was just checking this one while I was in here." But yanking on it and twisting with pliers doesn't seem like a good way to "check up on" an old crown. Anyways... so now I get my second permanent bridge put on and it never stopped hurting... so I made a new appointment to follow up on my bridge after 6 weeks of it being in since I cannot chew on that side of my mouth, and after two more cancelled appointments for "family emergencies" by Mak, I finally am able to get in and they now said I need a root canal under my bridge due to so a ll of the extra work done to it (which was done because they screwed up the first time) which will have to be paid in full at another provider. Next story: I also had a root canal done during this time on a different tooth (the one that the assistant tried to remove because she had no clue what she was doing) by Dr Sharma (at Mak's office) and it only lasted 18 months before it was too sore to chew on. I Was told the root canal failed but Dr. Sharma no longer works there, so I would have to go see another provider and pay full price for another re-treat. Leaving me now about $7,000 in for two failed procedures. This place is a joke and has done nothing to right my horrible experience. All I have done is give this place money and be in pain and I'm in no better position than when this journey started. Terrible customer experience not even trying to do anything to make my experience better after all of this. Don't get me wrong, I've heard people with great experiences... that's why I came here in the first place. But if they mess up, they do nothing in order to fix it other than keep charging you full price for their incompetence. read more

The worst experience ever. The nurses lied about the service capabilities of the dental office said they had in house denture Making capabilities. Arrived at appointment and nurses did not follow doctors directions. Also did not give any antibiotics for a severe infection. Told me it takes weeks to make a denture. The left me without pulling infected broken tooth. I found a different dentist got me in same day and had denture within 2 days. Avoid this dentist. There are much better services in this area. read more
