Two active barbers when I came in, one male, one female. Several people ahead of me, adults and children. I waited half an hour... Just when it looked like it was about to be my turn for a cut, a Hispanic guy came in, long after I did and he was seated for a cut before me! Me being the only non-Hispanic there, it seemed discriminatory and so I walked out. For those thinking this guy had a reservation, I think not... no one looked at the clock or their watches, and no apologies to me. Totally ignored. I will not return or ever recommend this place to anyone I know.

Samir was my barber and he was absolutely out of this world. his attention to detail was next level and he delivered exactly the cut I asked for. The short shoulder massage and warm towel were such a relaxing bonus and really elevated the whole experience. Samir and Diego (who I believe is the owner) were super friendly and spent time chatting with me about local restaurants, which I really appreciated since I'm still trying to explore the area. The shop has a welcoming, professional vibe that makes you feel comfortable right away. I'll 100% be coming back and highly recommend this spot if you care about quality and experience.

So this is going to be a very mixed review-…read more I've been going to the Prohaircutters in the Rockaway Mall for 6+ years now because I had found a guy who do a flattop and not screw it up. 6+ years Elliot cut my hair and now he's gone-he's back in NYC because coming to Rockaway was a pain in the neck-especially from what I saw of the way the manger and the assistant manager treated the guy. I found a new guy, Caesar, and he does a great job on my hair and my son's hair. So because I dont have to find a new barber, I'll keep going-for a while at least. Now, the rest of the story (thanks Paul Harvey)-I go in on Saturday and see a sign that says: "Effective Sept 1, 2012 due to increase (sic) costs by our credit card companies, we apologize in advance for your inconvenince, however, gratuities will no longer be accepted on credit or debit cards." What a crock of crap. They dont want to take credit cards-fine, then don't, but don't give me this crap about not being able to put a tip on the card...cheap, nickel and dime crap right there. One last thing, the assistant manager is rude, obnoxious, and a real b*#ch who takes pride in harrassing the barbers/hair dressers instead of letting them do their jobs. Listen lady-NO ONE cares what the person cutting their hair is wearing as long as they do a good job. I don't care if they talk to each other, take a quick call, or take a drink if soda-let them do their jobs and leave them alone! The guy who now cuts my hair is great (4 stars), but this place is going down the tubes...(-2 stars)
