One of my work buddies mentioned that a family member was appearing in a show here, so we decided to check it out last night. I had not heard of the Opera House Players before. I learned they had a pretty impressive history. They are a nonprofit volunteer-based community theater group dating back to 1968. Oh, and they specialize in musical theater and perform it exclusively, presenting four shows per season. Their shows are currently presented at the Enfield Annex (the old Enrico Fermi School) at 124 N. Maple Street, but they are planning a move to 100 High Street. We saw the show "Newsies" last night, and we were so impressed by the set, sound quality, orchestra, and the overall talent on the stage. There was a lot of talented folks up there, ranging from about 20 children, all the way up to a few senior citizens, like those who played Joseph Pulitzer and Theodore Roosevelt. Of course the real stars of the night were the children, who seemed to be singing and dancing all night long. A few of the kids capped off their dance moves with cartwheel, somersault, and handstand flourishes on top of their dances. It was quite an impressive display of young talent across the entire stage. Bravo!

Quaint little theatre packs quite a punch!…read more I've seen four shows at this theatre: Barefoot in the Park, Sound of Music, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and a Christmas Carol. All four were superb. You will be amazed with how much can be done with such a small stage. Some seats make you feel as if you're actually part of the show. I knew there would be a line especially for best movie of ALL TIME so I didn't mind the wait. The seats are definitely not as comfortable as AMC's seats but everything else is up to par including the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I think the popcorn and drinks might be a bit cheaper as well which is NEVER a bad thing. EXPERIENCE: 10/10 cus Endgame=best movie ever SERVICE: 8/10 RECOMMENDATION: Don't bring a backpack. Don't try sneaking in snacks and just buy popcorn. Enjoy the experience rather than worry about getting caught.

I didn't look too hard because my eye was on the chandelier in the main gathering room and the architecture of this gem! We sat stage right and we're so impressed with the ability to see the show from any angle. I bet there's not a bad seat in the house! Their emphasis is on emerging artists, independent musicians, and other non-mainstream creative types. A lot of local scenes have coalesced around this place. Admission is kept low making all events affordable for the local community. The venue is supported by door donations, fundraising, and grants. Periodically Flywheel puts on large scale shows featuring acts like Fugazi and Le Tigre. Flywheel is currently on hiatus due to the renovations being performed on their relocation space in the former town hall. Their previous site featured a cafe, zine library, art gallery, and performance space. Local scenester tip: Don't call it "The Flywheel". I look forward to visiting them in their new incarnation!

Flywheel has recently been the venue for Ladyfest and benefit shows for Pioneer Valley's Zine fest, and looks forward to showcasing more local bands. It's all volunteer-run, and people are free to donate some time to help out, either with shows or at "work parties" (like the bi-weekly party for cataloguing zines) as much or as little as they can.

I was genuinely excited about participating in the Holiday Market at Sonny's Place. I toured the grounds with one of their ambassadors, discussed my accessibility needs, and was told they'd help me secure a comfortable setup. I even took the time to alert their team about scam posts on Facebook from people pretending to collect vendor fees--trying to protect their community. Instead of being met with professionalism or gratitude, I was removed as a vendor without explanation. No courtesy call, no clarity, nothing but dismissive behavior from Mackenzie, the person handling vendor relations. After everything I shared and the effort I put in, her response made it clear how poorly these events are managed. To make matters worse, the building itself is not ADA accessible, which violates the basic principles of ADA Title III. As a full-time wheelchair user, that alone speaks volumes. Equal access should never be an afterthought. I came in with good faith, ready to create something beautiful for families and children. Instead, I left disappointed, stressed, and honestly shocked at how little care was given to accessibility or communication. Vendors--especially those of us in the disability community--should think twice before signing up. Avoid the headache and the heartache. You deserve better than this.

I am a lifelong fan of Jacob's Pillow! I have been to so many performances here and enjoyed each…read moreone. I am also a frequent visitor of the gift shop, and I even took a dance class when I was younger. Most recently, I came for an outdoor dance performed by two different dance teams that had collaborated on Irish Step-dancing pieces. I was told that I would appreciate the performance because I have some Irish in my blood, not sure how that works, but I really did enjoy it! The dancers worked so well together. They glided across the stage, and they looked so happy to be there. There was one dancer in particular who really seemed like there was nowhere he would rather be. I also came for a tap dancing performance and I was in awe of all the performers who clearly put 110% into their performance. I was beyond happy with both experiences, and I've always greatly appreciated the talent and effort of all performers.
