    Beautiful looking, but meh..

Completely not worth it. First of all, its an extra 2-3 pounds if you want to eat your eclairs and drink your coffee at the place... WHAT?? How can you justify paying 7-8 pounds for 1 eclairs.. We got 2 to go and they were okay. The dark chocolate one had chocolate filling, which made it too chocolatey. It would've been better complimented with a vanilla filling. The hazelnut eclair was way too sweet.. The presentation is great, but the price and taste is completely not worth it. I had a better, bigger eclair at the Borough Market. Skip.

I am a major fan of all things sweet, so I knew I had to try some of these éclairs while I was in London. The shop is conveniently located a short walk from the South Kensington tube station as well as the nearby bus stops. When I arrived on a Saturday around noon, there were a few customers in, but not much of a queue and it looked like they had all of the flavors still in stock. However since there's so little seating to begin with, there was only 1 table with 2 seats available for eat-in while I was there. It also costs extra to eat in. The staff were really nice and courteous. One of them filled the orders, and then handed it off to another who rung it up for payment. The store, while small, had a bright, airy atmosphere. I ordered 4 éclairs to go for about £25 total; I picked the caramel, the Spanish raspberry, the violet and wild berries, and the Tahitian vanilla and pecan. They were packaged neatly in a cute box and bag. I didn't have any issues paying with my American bank card. I loved all 4 flavors I got; they each had a distinctive flavor. I think my favorite was the Tahitian vanilla, as the pecans were a bit salty and balanced nicely with the sweetness of the vanilla. Sometimes the cream inside would squirt out a bit on the other end, so look out for that. The texture was good too. Since I couldn't eat all 4 éclairs at once, I had 2 of them the next morning, about 22 hours after I purchased them; they had held up well and still tasted fantastic. The éclairs were wonderful and the shop was conveniently located; the only downsides for me were that they were cost prohibitive, the shop is so small, and eat-in costs extra. Otherwise, I was happy with my experience and would gladly come back to try the other flavors.

The eclairs are 5*! Amazing flavours and first class presentation however the price is insane - value for money, they are not. Saying that, they are worth splashing out for a decadent dessert/treat but the trouble is choosing from the amazing options. Maitre Choux only serves eclairs, profiteroles and chouqettes. Choux's come in at £3.50 each and are small round pastries with a flavoured cream and a chocolate slice on top. The flavours aren't quite as quirky and different as the eclairs but are still pretty delicious; raspberry, pistachio, vanilla or chocolate. I tried their raspberry choux which was fresh, light and delicious. The eclairs have much more of a wow factor but come in at £5-6 each. I got the caramel eclair (SALTED BUTTER WITH HOMEMADE CARAMEL ECLAIR CARAMEL À LA BRETONNE. Using recipes from the French region of Brittany, our salted butter and caramel filling brings back the basics with a pure emphasis on taste. It strikes a perfect balance of creaminess, lightness and sweetness. The cream in our salted butter and caramel éclair is a Cremeux emulsionned with butter for a smooth and softer texture. The éclair is topped with an éclair shaped layer of thin chocolate and a line of caramel sauce.) As you can tell from the description they put a lot of love and thought in to them and they truly are delicious! Some of the other flavours sound amazing so I can't wait to try some of the others (vanilla and pecan, hazelnut and milk chocolate, strawberry). We got them delivered on a Friday night from uber eats. Delivery was quick and easy and they were delivered in a nice box and bag. I have walked past the shop in South Ken a few times - it is bright, white, clean and spacious. Will definitely visit for a coffee and a pastry!

I had read a few years ago that posh eclairs would be the next big thing. The big department stores had started selling them and they were predicted to take over from the cronut craze Maitre Choux is the brainchild of a 3 Michelin starred chef specialising in posh eclairs. They look spectacular and cone in a variety of flavours. My favourite is Tresor a la Noisette with flavours reminiscent of Ferrero Rocher I have to take a star off for the price though - they average around £5 - £6, which is rich for an eclair

OMG. Best pastries I've ever tasted. Yes it's expensive but the pastry chef is well known and these eclairs will be life changing. I took my first bite of the lemon one and I'm not joking I almost cried. Yes I know that's crazy. Worth the calories. Worth the money. I can't wait to go back to London and have 10 of these again.

They taste as good as they look!

Looks aren't deceiving with these dainty little eclairs! Honestly, I came because they looked pretty. My expectations were pretty low given my past experiences with "pretty" eclairs. These guys though were amazing! My boyfriend, who got dragged along thinking all we got out of this was another instagram photo for me, was actually really impressed by the flavors. The ispahan was definitely my favorite, perfect notes of lychee and rose. The pistachio was also equally great. The cream was fresh and smooth, and every part of these little masterpieces was delicious. I wish I lived in London and could come back again!

    Cute little box!

é·clair - (noun) a small, soft, log-shaped pastry filled with cream and typically topped with chocolate icing. Maitre Choux is a choux pastry specialist patisserie - and once you see the photos you'll just be blown away. Each eclair is just a work of art - beautiful, delicate and just stunning. And they taste delicious? Who could ask for more. If you want to try out the best flavors you've got to come early. All of the eclairs range from £5-7 which is a little pricey - but come on you can't resist just getting one when you walk into here. The staff are the best! One of them found out I was from Hong Kong and started speaking in Cantonese to me. They also offered us some of their chouquettes to try since it was near the end of the day. (These were nothing spectacular - they were slightly soggy and pricey for the amount you get). You also get a lovely little bag and a cute box depending on what size you orders. {FLAVORS} - Delice Rose a La Frambroise (£5.2) - I just picked this one because it looked pretty and c'mon it's pink. Unfortunately it looked better than it tasted. - Persian Pistachio: A recommended flavor (along with salted caramel) by the staff. Enjoyable and a perfect amount of pistachio flavoring :) - Salted Caramel: Oh I have never had anyone mess up salted caramel. Always a solid pick. Delicious gooey custard filled with salted caramel topping yum. - Stone Fruit Medley Verbana & Poppy Crumble(~7): Okay this was the most expensive eclair that we bought but it was THE BEST. Fresh and juicy mini peaches all over with some sort of crumble. It is a must try if you come here.

Maitre Choux South Kensington, London Honestly, I don't know whether I am reviewing food or art!!! This is the first time I went to Maitre Choux and believe it or not, I am not an eclaire fan at all. I don't eat cream but the cream in these eclairs is heavenly. Its is light, fluffy - almost cloudy. Eating the raspberry éclair was like eating wisps of raspberry on a cloud of citrus cream. Every flavour on each éclair explodes in your mouth yet overall they are so delicately flavoured. The other flavours we tried were strawberry and cream (with a pistachio cream filling) and hazelnut and milk chocolate (hazelnut cream filling). All amazing. I always wonder about the phrase "I can taste all the layers of flavour) on TV but I could genuinely experience it with these eclairs. The staff are very friendly and we also grabbed 5 choquettes to have with tea. Yummy yummy!!!

Amazing. Phillipa was so sweet and helped explain the different types of pastries. She may have even let us sample a small one. We stopped here 3.5 years ago right after it opened. We have talked about it ever since. Coming back did not disappoint. We will go there a few more times this trip- for sure!!!!

£5-£7 for an eclair might make you think woah nelly, but these aren't any ordinary eclairs. They are made by a 3-star Michelin pastry chef and are practically works of art. The pistachio flavour was recommended. Nothing can be faulted about the puff pastry itself although the pistachio cream filling itself didn't have strong enough of a pistachio flavour in my opinion. The lemon flavour on the other hand fared better with a lovely burnt meringue on top. The flavours came out bolder and the meringue paired exquisitely with the tanginess of the lemon. Service was lovely. They were very accommodating of me hovering about and taking pictures of their display and we're happy to recommend flavours. The prices can be a bit steep but worth forking out for an one-off occasion.

Huge selection of amazing looking éclairs - there is an éclair for everyone. The éclairs were smaller than I expected, and the price is very high. But I honestly never saw any éclair like them before, so of course I bought 4 of them! If you're trying to impress someone, I recommend you buy some éclairs.

Two eclairs went to divorce court, one said to the other, I want full custardy. I'll see myself out after this review. This place is all about the eclairs and choux pastry. A bit fancy, but only two tables. Which makes it become a take out place, which seems odd for what is a speciality eclaire cafe that has champagne on the menu. I got a bit of a surprise when it was time to pay for this afternoon treat. Let's just say it might be the most expensive eclairs in the country. Well we are in South Kensington after all. But so nicely designed and the ingredients and bake is supreme. I had the pink one which was raspberry flavor. I'm very confident in my masculinity you see, so I can comfortably order pink pastries and I'll even consider wearing a pink shirt. We also had a voilet flavored chocolate choquette and they gave us two regular choquettes for free. They are quite light, obviously because they are hollow inside. The espresso was also good.

Fantastic eclairs! The Pastry chef/Owner has a 3 MIchelin star background and worked as executive pastry chef for Joël Robuchon so you wouldn't expect any less! Definitely worth a visit.

Apparently their most popular one the hazelnut milk chocolate

The high tea area is behind the bakery and it's much quieter and more intimate :) Decor was super cute and fancy; very festive for the holidays. We ordered the standard high tea which came with 5-6 savory bites and 5-6 sweet bites. After getting the tea, service went downhill. Three new parties were seated AND a party of 5 got their food before us (party of 4) along with two other tables who were seated after us. We had to flag the waitress down a few times since it seemed like they had forgotten about us :( Overall, good experience doing high tea in London but can't say I'd come back here for it again.
