Maison Mariass 1901 is a fantastic, local and authentic place to have a coffee, a traditional mint tea and a delicious brunch. Not only a place to eat and drink, Maison Mariass is becoming an institution. Their owners will on-board you in their culinary journey finding their inspiration from all the Mediterranean sea. The price/quality is optimal. You will be able to taste delicious food for affordable price. If you are lucky, you will be there when Chef Mariass will bake delicious french cake or pie. Amazing experience.

Their brunch is just plain amazing. Their jam and bread go together like magic, and their fresh squeezed orange juice matches well with the fruit cup. Also, the omelet or the crepe (whichever you may choose) may appear plain and simple, but tastes rich and leaves you craving for more afterwards. Simply amazing :) must visit!

I try not to go more than once to the same restaurant when I'm traveling, but it was hard to keep this routine when I went to Maison. I went there 3 times while staying in Nice, and would have gone more times if I had stayed longer. This little charming cafe is run by this lovely lady (which I failed on asking the name) and sits only a few people. I got the same option 2 days in a role, which was the brunch special, with fruit salad, fresh squeezed orange juice, cheese omelet, salad, cappuccino and bread with jelly (make sure to try the citrus jelly). All cost 12€. Everything tasted delicious but I have to highlight the bread, which is outstanding and an absolute must try. It is the best bread I've ever had, and trust me, I've had many types of bread because I'm a bread lover and a carb addicted. She mentioned that the bread is made at her family's bakery and they bring it fresh every day to the cafe. The third day I had the veggie pie, which was delicious too! I loved this place and if I go back to Nice, I will probably have breakfast there every day again.

Great meal in France!…read more This was a fantastic first dinner in Nice right off the main drag. We had reservation for 7pm and arrived a few minutes early. We waited a few minutes while they prepped our table and we were seated promptly. The vibe was cool, very French cafe feeling on the streets. The waiters were kind and attentive was you settled in. They patiently answered all our menu questions. We ordered the fois gras (because when in France), the duck and the octopus. All the food was excellent, the fois gras was perfect (although probably wouldn't order it again for ethical reasons). The octopus was absolutely perfect, very very easy to screw up, but they nailed it; every bit melting in our mouths. The duck breast was perfect, juicy and cooked to perfect. All the dishes were served with plenty of accompaniment. Great meal for a great French experience. Would highly recommend.

Walked over from a nearby hotel and grabbed a table by myself along the busy street. The servers…read morewere very friendly and spoke English well. It happened to be happy hour so I was able to take advantage of some great drink deals. For my dinner, I ordered the duck with vegetables, potatoes, and added a side of ratatouille. It was all very good and the portions were large for the price. The orange sauce was unique and it seemed to have orange peels in it as well. While this might be more of a touristy spot with this location, it was a true French menu, which was my goal. The food and service were very good and I'll come back.

Five stars for sure! This place has it all: Cute, charming, stylish, extremely welcoming and…read morefriendly and delicious food. The menu changes with the season, and that was a good thing, I had a hankering for fresh vegetable based food. By the time we were able to order, their 3 item menu was down to 2. They had run out of one of the options. But that was totally fine for my company and I, the two options we got: - carrot and parsnip soup, with bread and goat cheese: cheese was warm and silky, bread was fresh and crisp. The soup itself hit the soul very warmly. It was so fresh, like I was eating the actual carrot and parsnip, but better. It was a good change to eat something so vegetable based. - egg pumpkin (various kinds of pumpkins) omelette with rice and salad and draped in cumin spiced Gouda cheese: like the other dish, you could taste the vegetables in every bite. It was light and fresh. There were chunks of cheese in the rice which were good surprises. I was so pleased with this place overall, not just by the food. I would give more stars if I could. At the end of the meal, when we refused dessert (even though we were tempted) and got our cheque, the owner gave us a few pieces of their carrot cake to our surprise. It was really nice of her. The carrot cake was heavenly, so fluffy, light and not too sweet (like all the other carrot cakes I've had in my life). I'm impressed! So good.

I ended up getting a cappuccino that was well-made, with a nice Crema on top, well balanced, and most importantly quite tasty. I also got a fresh made lemon cupcake hot out of the oven, which was quite tasty in its own right and the perfect compliment to my cappuccino. If you are looking for a quiet spot to take a break before you continue your travel through historic Nice than this place should hit the spot.
