Maison du Kebab was between my hotel and Gare du Nord train station where I arrived a little earlier. This was my first meal in Paris and it wasn't French but it was convenient.
This was actually two restaurants in one, selling Middle Eastern food, burgers, and chicken (under the name Chicken House). Ordering was done at the counter and the food was delivered to our table. It's a simple setup with basic tables and chairs and not much room to maneuver between them.
I chose a grilled lamb kebab and my companion ordered a mixed chicken platter.
The lamb was decent, although a little on the dry side. It had good flavour and included rice, fries, and a salad.
The chicken platter consisted of a drumstick, thigh, a couple of battered strips, a few wings, and fries. Everything was fried and it all tasted the same. Bland. It definitely lacked some seasoning.
This is not what I imagined my first meal in Paris to be but we chose it. At least it wasn't fast food. But almost. read more
