I stayed here overnight with 2 friends and we all wished that we could have stayed forever!…read more A simple and classic Quebecois style chalet that has been renovated beautifully inside, this homey b&b has 6 double rooms to rent and is run by two super welcoming guys named Jean-Charles and Daniel. They are located in the lovely little village of St.Adolphe d'Howard, which is a refreshingly non-commercial hold-out in the fun park that is the Laurentians nowadays. The b&b is directly on Lac St. Joseph with a small, private beach. They have pedalos (pedal boats) and kayaks that you can take out on the lake, which is wonderful, especially at sunset or sunrise. You can take your meals by the water or spend the evening next to a small fire by the water. Basically, it's heavenly! We rented a room expecting just a place to lay our heads, but we found a beautiful, relaxing place to spend a beautiful night chatting by firelight next to the lake! I was able to take a peak at 3 of the rooms (besides the one we stayed in) and they all looked well-kept. The bed I slept in was comfortable and the bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. There was a small common room with a fridge (you can keep some food there), a kettle, tea, a tv and a huge book of quebecois films to watch (free!). We ate our breakfast on the balcony facing the lake. They were extremely accomodating of all our dietary restrictions (one vegetarian, one-non-dairy eating meat-eater). The food was DELICIOUS and pretty generous for a b&b. We sat on the balcony practically all afternoon! Basically, I'm in love with this place and I'm going back as soon as possible. Also to be noted, if you stay here you get a 10% discount on services at Spa d'Howard (chech my other reviews for more about this), which is an awesome spa about 4 minutes drive (or a lovely walk) from the Auberge.

The rooms were very mediocre and we had a broken window. The hostess also kept on complaining about her job and wouldn't stop talking about her life story. All we wanted was a peaceful getaway but we ended up feeling stuck in a strangers house. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Our stay was part of a tour package booked through Cyclo-Gites Voyageurs B&B. We arrived in the middle of the afternoon after biking about 50 km from Mont-Tremblant. The inn is a short distance off the bike path, but there is a sign that marks a side path to it, so we had no trouble finding the inn. My French is very poor, but we had no trouble communicating with Linda, and Yvon speaks very good English. There was a securely locked garage in which to store our bicycling gear. Yvon serves an impressive selection of Belgian beers and ales and also some light appetizers and sandwiches on the patio, so we relaxed there with some beers and snacks after our ride. Our room, was a bit spare and small, with a full-sized bed rather than a queen-sized bed, but it was very clean and comfortable. Dinner was included in the tour package, but not served at the inn. Yvon drove us to a Greek restaurant in Ste-Adele, where we had an excellent and very enjoyable meal. Breakfast was served at the inn and was delightful and filling, choice of fruit and yogurt or a fritatta, croissants, etc. I will definitely try to stay at L'Auberg de la Gare again the next time I ride this bike tour.

Pooh and I stayed here for the first leg of our two week vacation…read more The hotel itself is nice. We had a king bed room and the breakfast buffet and spa were included. We didn't get to the spa but the buffet was delicious and had a lot of variety. Our room had a spacious patio equipped with a table and chairs. It also had a small kitchen with a small fridge and microwave. What we liked were the dining table, dishes and utensils. There is also a sink and extra garbage and recycling bags. The coffee maker is a (wide pod) Nespresso. Two pods daily are included if you want additional pods they are 3$ each. We went to the grocery store and bought a box of pods it was much cheaper. The bathroom was big. It housed a big waterfall type shower and a jacuzzi tub. The toilet is in a separate space in the bathroom. It had a double sink. The water pressure was on point. The tv was big; at least 60" and has outlets for Apple TV or Fire Stick. Both sides of the bed had a big table which we appreciated because we both have CPAPs and we had a fireplace which gave the room added charm. We did try the steak restaurant but will not include it in this review because it was a disappointment.

La Sapinière has never disappointed us, but is IS a great big drive from Montreal. We've been going…read morethere for years to celebrate special occasions and the menu is always stellar. The portions are on the small side (obviously) but always satisfying. The main dining room is stunning and overlooks a lake, an amazing view to compliment your meal but if you want to be seated by a window, you should reserve way in advance! They have an excellent wine selection and the dishes are lush. They are beginning to incorporate vegetarian options but overall, expect lots of meat and fish. If you can, try the foie gras, they make it really memorable. My mom did find her quails a bit cold but my veal was to die for. For birthdays, you get glasses of Kir on the house! The staff is really lovely and have made the effort to remember us, which is always appreciated. The recession has struck everyone, and it's nice to see that La Sapinière has tried to adapt: they 3 course table d'hôte is a couple dollars short of $40, the 5-course meal being under $60, an absolute steal (as everything used to be over $80 a couple of years back). Thankfully, they haven't sacrificed quality in any way. The decor is cozy and warm, the hotel was built in the 60s and it still has that slightly retro flavour (carpeted floors, big leather chairs, swiss-chalet style). They try to cater to all sorts of clientele, but I'd say this isn't the most kid-friendly hotel. The bar really stylish and right next to a mahogany pool table and an intimate dance floor. If you feel extra fancy, you can rent you own little bungalow outside the hotel! I would recommend going in winter, I think it's during that time that the Laurentians really shine, the scenery is unbeatable and it makes it the comfort of the place and the food even more worthwhile..

Service 4/5 beauty of facility situated on the lake 4/5 bar/lounge area 3/5 (feels like you are in a 70's lounge) wifi 1/5 (for the week I could never connect in my room and barely in the meeting rooms) The Sapinere works to be a desirable place to stay but alas the place is very old and dated! Service is very good and location in a nice secluded area!
