I've had solid food every time. The order is always accurate and ready on time. Absolutely recommend.

I really, really wanted to still love this place after it was sold. And in the beginning, things were great. First and foremost, they are just lovely people. So friendly, they know their repeat customers, etc. But the food is just not up to Main Wah standards. The beef dishes have too much cornstarch so they're soft and a little slimy, with the bitter cornstarch taste. Kung Pao chicken is one of my favorites and it's just not good. There is no saucy sauce, but instead just caked-on, pasty salty seasoning which should have been a sauce. There are 3 dishes that are still amazing and when we want any of these, Main Wah is still our go-to. They make the best wonton soup, fried rices and lo mein. It's such a bummer. read more

This was my go-to Chinese food place for over a decade, but it just isn't as good as it used to be over the past year. I have found that the quality of the food has slipped and the flavors are bland. (No more wok hei) I have noticed new people working there and I am assuming that the business has changed hands. I'm not sure that I will go back, as my family and I have each had several meals from there since and we are consistently disappointed. I cannot recommend this place any further. I hope they can up their game soon. read more

Many people have recommended this place for Chinese take out, so thought I would give it a try for lunch. Ordered the Hunan Steak lunch combo which came with soup. I ordered hot and sour soup. Can't review that, because they didn't give me any utensils to eat with. Luckily I asked for chop sticks, so I had something to eat my Hunan Steak with. The Hunan Steak was very good. There were a few pieces of chewy fatty meat, but the rest was great. Delicious pork fried rice too. I will try it again and ask for a spoon! read more

Main Wah is one of many Chinese Food options in the local Stratford area. Main Wah stands out for the freshness and prices compared to others in the area to be honest it is my ONLY go to Chinese spot in Stratford because all the others are sub par, and often leave me feeling ill. Main Wah has a wonderful selection of Asian favorites as well as an elaborate, affordable and delicious lunch menu. Main Wah is open 7 days a week for your convenience, and offers a variety of spice levels for EVERY dish. read more

Best Chinese takeout I've found since I moved to CT. Awesome General Taos and pork fried rice. I always picked up and never had an issue.

Great local spot. Very friendly service. They are technically our "backup up" take out Chinese food place but still very good. Crispy fried noodles side always a great snack read more

Our family ordered multiple items off Main Wah, we highly recommend the fried wings, skewers, and short ribs. These were the best items of the bunch, especially the beef skewers for the flavor and tenderness of the beef. read more

Main Wah Restaurant - Beef Skewers - Chinese Near Me - Stratford, Connecticut

Used to love Main Wah! Been going there at least 15 years. We ordered food the other day and it just wasn't good. Everything was so overcooked. Scallion pancakes were hard as rocks. Sesame chicken was so over fried, almost burnt. Egg rolls also practically burnt. Wondering if there are owners. Nobody looked familiar behind the counter. read more

The best Chinese takeout in the Stratford, Bridgeport, and Milford area. The taste of their food is quality and sets itself apart from others. I won't order from anywhere else since Main Wah set the bar high. read more

My family and I were craving chinese food and decided to give Main Wah a chance. Normally, the camera eats first for me but I couldn't help trying the food out once I opened the container because of the smell. When I remembered to take photos, I have already devoured my food. It was delicious, fresh and I would definitely order again when I'm in the neighborhood. So happy I tried it out. read more

I went there based from the reviews. That was a big disappointment! There's no tables inside so don't plan on eating there for a quick bite. I needed an itemized receipt and she gave me a menu and told me price is on here. Well that doesn't help me with my expense report at all! The food was also disappointing. No flavoring at all. I got the Shrimp with Veggies only comes in one size (of course it does) house low main noodle (small) and crab meat Rangoon. 31.00. Over priced! I don't know if the people that wrote the reviews have never been anywhere else outside of the state but trust me, they're lying. Just keep moving on! read more

Best Chinese food in Stratford area. Consistently fresh and delicious. Never had a bad meal. Big portions - my husband and I get two orders for dinner, and we have lunch for the following day. I'm so happy we live so close! read more

Great food highly recommended big portions. Pricey but what isn't expensive with inflation

I think Main Wah is an excellent option for Chinese in the area. It was always my go-to growing up. I've tried many of the menu options over the years. I am most fond of the vegetable fried rice and pork fried egg roll. read more

Wow. Found this on Yelp and have never regretted it. Best Chinese food in Stratford. Highly recommend!!!

My new go-to place in Stratford. The delivery places in town have changed owners and the food has gotten worse.

Being from the Bronx, one major thing missing in Fairfield county was great Chinese food. Until I found MainWah. Now that I live in Easton my wife and I make the trek out to Stratford when we are craving Chinese because all the local stuff just doesn't cut it. It is a must, and pretty much everything on the menu is great. read more

I've seen this restaurant for quite awhile....in my home town of Stratford. Last night I was on my way home from work and decided to give it a try. The place overall is quite clean. It looks to be worked by a husband and wife team. I ordered chicken noodle soup and the boneless rib combination with fried rice and also steamed dumplings. I got home and opened up the soup and couldn't wait to taste it. The first thing I tasted in it was....ginger. I don't mind a slight ginger taste but it tasted pretty gingery so I didn't care for it. I didn't eat all the soup cause of that. Then I opened the steamed dumpings....hoping it wasn't heavily gingered. I cut into a dumpling and it seemed like it had like a brown sauce in it. The kind they usually give you with it....which I don't care for. Wasn't a good taste. If they left out that sauce I think they would've been somewhat good. The funny thing about the boneless ribs I hate when I order them....and someone cooks the hell out of them. And I watched as they went under the broiler. They kept coming out and being re-arranged and put back in. Must've happend about 5 to 6 times. I opened them with the fried rice and I was happy they were burnt but they were quite over cooked and dry. The fried rice was dry too. So....all in all.....I didn't care for my dinner. When I spoke to the guy behind the counter I was wondering how long they were there for....he said 30 years. Don't know how they could've lasted this long with this kind of food....unless it was different years ago. Hopefully they change their ways.... read more

Great food. Clean facility friendly service. Sauces and meats are high quality compared to many other local places.

I've been going to this Chinese food place for a long time and have never had a problem. They're food is tasty! We especially love the General Tso's chicken. Mmmm yummy! The staff is pleasant too. One time I went to pick up my order and wanted to make sure they put fortune cookies in the bag and the guy threw in a handful. When I went to look in the bag there were already some in there so we had plenty of fortune cookies! We usually order take out and the wait time is usually no more than 15 minutes. read more

This is some of the best Hole-in-the-wall Chinese food around. The seasme chicken is great. None of the grisly bits of chicken you find in other places. Our favorite is the cream cheese wontons, a tad greasy but sooooo good. The wonton soup offers a huge wontons with a great pork filling in a nicely seasoned broth. It is one of my favorite soups to reheat the next day for lunch. This place is cheap with most entrees running from 8-10 bucks. read more

Not bad if your in a hurry and want to bring some Chinese food home. It seems like every time i go there the prices have gone up.

Pretty good chinese.. a bit expensive.

Good food..john is the owner....fair prices..clean establishment..tell john tonyA(from cricket) said hi..if you stop in!!

We have heard good things. This was our first time. Ordered spring rolls, sesame chicken and kung bo chicken. The spring rolls were crisp, the inside had a really strong brown sauce in it that overpowered the roll. The sesame chicken was average and the kung bo chicken was overcooked but the sauce, although too thick, had good flavor. read more

Best Chinese food in Stratford! John is awesome, always polite and food never disappoints! Thank you Main Wah!

Best Chinese food in Stratford! Others in town are good - this restaurant has best WonTon soup and General Tsao Chicken. All their food is consistently good and pleasant friendly service. Only down side - they don't deliver! read more

Best Chinese food in the Stratford, CT area! Food is always great and plus the owners are very friendly.

Best Chinese place in town, I highly recommend the boneless spare ribs.

Delicious food. I would suggest the vegetable fried rice. There's no tables so you would have to take out.

**WARNING - UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT** This place used to have great food but since new management took over (happens all the time with Chinese restaurants), the food and attitude toward customers has suffered greatly. I've been going here for decades but no longer. The last time I ordered, I got sick to my stomach and the owner couldn't care less. I won't frequent this place again until this owner leaves. Too bad. They used to have great food and they used to really care about their customers. My advice? Stay away. read more
