I really, really wanted to still love this place after it was sold. And in the beginning, things were great. First and foremost, they are just lovely people. So friendly, they know their repeat customers, etc. But the food is just not up to Main Wah standards. The beef dishes have too much cornstarch so they're soft and a little slimy, with the bitter cornstarch taste. Kung Pao chicken is one of my favorites and it's just not good. There is no saucy sauce, but instead just caked-on, pasty salty seasoning which should have been a sauce. There are 3 dishes that are still amazing and when we want any of these, Main Wah is still our go-to. They make the best wonton soup, fried rices and lo mein. It's such a bummer. read more

This was my go-to Chinese food place for over a decade, but it just isn't as good as it used to be over the past year. I have found that the quality of the food has slipped and the flavors are bland. (No more wok hei) I have noticed new people working there and I am assuming that the business has changed hands. I'm not sure that I will go back, as my family and I have each had several meals from there since and we are consistently disappointed. I cannot recommend this place any further. Many people have recommended this place for Chinese take out, so thought I would give it a try for lunch. Ordered the Hunan Steak lunch combo which came with soup. I ordered hot and sour soup. Can't review that, because they didn't give me any utensils to eat with. Luckily I asked for chop sticks, so I had something to eat my Hunan Steak with. The Hunan Steak was very good. I went there based from the reviews. That was a big disappointment! There's no tables inside so don't plan on eating there for a quick bite. I needed an itemized receipt and she gave me a menu and told me price is on here. Well that doesn't help me with my expense report at all! The food was also disappointing. No flavoring at all. I got the Shrimp with Veggies only comes in one size (of course it does) house low main noodle (small) and crab meat Rangoon. 31.00. Over priced! Now that I live in Easton my wife and I make the trek out to Stratford when we are craving Chinese because all the local stuff just doesn't cut it. I've been going to this Chinese food place for a long time and have never had a problem. They're food is tasty! We especially love the General Tso's chicken. Mmmm yummy! The staff is pleasant too. One time I went to pick up my order and wanted to make sure they put fortune cookies in the bag and the guy threw in a handful. I've seen this restaurant for quite awhile....in my home town of Stratford. Last night I was on my way home from work and decided to give it a try. The place overall is quite clean. It looks to be worked by a husband and wife team. I ordered chicken noodle soup and the boneless rib combination with fried rice and also steamed dumplings. I got home and opened up the soup and couldn't wait to taste it. The first thing I tasted in it was....ginger. I don't mind a slight ginger taste but it tasted pretty gingery so I didn't care for it. I didn't eat all the soup cause of that. Then I opened the steamed dumpings....hoping it wasn't heavily gingered. I cut into a dumpling and it seemed like it had like a brown sauce in it. The kind they usually give you with it....which I don't care for. Wasn't a good taste. If they left out that sauce I think they would've been somewhat good. The funny thing about the boneless ribs I hate when I order them....and someone cooks the hell out of them. And I watched as they went under the broiler. They kept coming out and being re-arranged and put back in. Must've happend about 5 to 6 times. I opened them with the fried rice and I was happy they were burnt but they were quite over cooked and dry. The fried rice was dry too. So....all in all.....I didn't care for my dinner. When I spoke to the guy behind the counter I was wondering how long they were there for....he said 30 years. Don't know how they could've lasted this long with this kind of food....unless it was different years ago. Hopefully they change their ways.... read more

This is some of the best Hole-in-the-wall Chinese food around. The seasme chicken is great. None of the grisly bits of chicken you find in other places. Our favorite is the cream cheese wontons, a tad greasy but sooooo good. The wonton soup offers a huge wontons with a great pork filling in a nicely seasoned broth. It is one of my favorite soups to reheat the next day for lunch. This place is cheap with most entrees running from 8-10 bucks. read more
