When I was filling out the paperwork for the insurance claim I noticed a vet visit wasn't listed so I called to inquire. Both girls only saw a vet tech for their annual visit! We are new clients. I believe both dogs have only been there 1 time for a previous health concern. One dog it had been over 4 months ago. I am very disappointed. I expect my dogs to be seen by a veterinarian each year not a vet tech. The bill was over $200 for each girl. We will be returning to our previous clinic. Be sure to ask questions when choosing a new clinic. We didn't ask enough questions. Our dogs deserved better.

Dr. Cotner must have some/most of his vet genes. She is extremely confident and knowledgeable since she has been practicing at the clinic. No "life saving"measures on very old/sick animals. STRONGLY RECOMMEND Wayside Vet Clinic

Our sweet 6 yr old German shepherd Benny boy died August 29th 2023 on his way to the emergency vet…read moredue to steroid medication this Kelly veterinarian clinic in Adrian gave him for his perianal fistula. Benny has had this disease for years and have put him on this steroid in the past but soon learned it was wreaking havoc on his liver. He lost weight, hair, getting sick and was not himself. So we quickly got him off that. This new staff put him on this steroid again disregarding my ex's concern and argument that it caused him to be sick in the past. They told him there was nothing to worry about that it would be fine because the frequency and timeline would be shorter. It wasn't fine. He started to lose weight and hair again so he stopped giving it to him, leading up to his vet appointment but it was too late. Our baby died because of this vets incompetence. Please choose a different vet office, I don't want this to happen to anybody else's baby.

He was gentle and concise while outlining our choices. My husband and I had already decided that we didn't want her to suffer if her prognosis wasn't good. We decided to euthanize her and the doctor was respectful of our decision. The rest of the staff were likewise respectful and caring. They were all non judgmental by letting us choose to leave her in their capable hands. I just could not watch her die. Later, they sent us a condolence card. I thought that was very kind. This is the second time that I had to take a very sick and dying old cat to them. I remembered how the doctor did not pressure us into costly tests and therapies at that time. That differed from another vet office in Novi who wanted us to hospitalize the cat. I appreciated Millpond's pragmatic and reasonable advice at that time and at this time. They recognize loving a pet and death with dignity. I highly recommend this office!

My own thoughts are in my prior review, this time I'll defer to my Mom, who said the following in a recent e-mail to Dr. VanKoevering: "I just wanted to tell you how much it has meant to all of us to have you be a part of our and our kitties' lives these last few years.... I truly appreciate how generous you've always been with your time and your advice, particularly in phone conversations, and you always made me feel as though I could ask any question. It was always clear to us that you made (our kitties) quality of life the prime consideration, and your honesty and directness in conveying information as well as your opinions, was also most appreciated. (You have a) truly compassionate view of how animals deserve to be treated." BOTTOM LINE: Mom summed it up well. Having a home-vet was the best choice we ever made regarding our cats' care!
