We decided to try and do something different and attempted to try and go to bingo. There is a very…read morepopular bingo here on Tuesday evenings. Doors open at 6pm and the first ball is pulled at 7:30. We didn't think it was that serious and came about 6:45 to be safe. The parking lot was packed and there was only seating in an enclosed smoking section. Needless to say we did not stay. We might try again another day. If we do I'll write an updated review of the experience. If you want to come and sit in the non smoking section I'd say you need to be here by 6:15. Beer and wine are also served here which is cool.

I think they're actually a lot better than fire departments in several other cities. I had very good experiences with them and I'm very grateful for their existence.

My daughter and her significant other have a watercraft. They've used it periodically over the summer. Yesterday something went awry. Their boat lost all power and they were forced to paddle to safety. Hopefully. A call was made to the Coast Guard, THANK GOD FOR CELL PHONES!!, and low and behold The Buffalo Fire Department met them and closed off the Seneca Street Bridge. An inflatable was sent to tow them to safety. What else can I say? My daughter is safe. Thank you, BFD!

The Bingo is cheap and the firemen who work Bingo are adorable and super super friendly. They often have chowder you can purchase and proceeds go to the Hall. The snack bar has tons of yummy options! Next month on September 20, 2025 there will be a celebration at River Fest Park 1-6pm to commemorate this historic fire boat. It's the world's oldest active fireboat and the only one in Buffalo. It can produce 15,000 gallons of water per minute, the equivalent of 10-11 fire engines. It's the only icebreaker in the port of Buffalo, and on July 4, 1996, it was designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Parks Service. And now, you can come aboard the 118-foot long, 178-ton Edward M. Cotter fireboat for absolutely free. Docked at 155 Ohio St. across from Swannie House, everybody is welcome to take a tour of the historic fireboat. Taking a tour of this fire boat and going out on the water on a beautiful summer evening with friends certainly has been the highlight of my summer in Western New York.

This is a beautiful little red fire boat which my friend tells us is also the oldest fire boat that is still working and being used in the whole country. I've loved it since the first time I saw it here in B-Lo years ago. I didn't even know they had fireboats (in general) until I saw this little thing, and it's something which always adds to the lovely charm of the marina area.

It's a fire hall,…read moreso very basic, but the walkway and lot was cleared of snow and it was comfortable inside, restrooms clean. It was super loud, however, the folding doors provided some relief if you stood in that area. It was a fun night.

I couldn't tell you for the life of me how great the Twin District Fire Department fights fires, or…read morerescues cats from trees, or how well groomed its firefighter's mustaches are, but I can tell you that this fire department is a great place to go vote! While others around the office complained of long lines and other irritations at their respective polling places, I didn't have that issue. I did throw up in my car a little bit before entering the fire hall, but then I slid right in, threw up on my ballot and slid right back out without a second hiccup. If it weren't for the disgusting candidates America wanted me to choose from for President, I probably wouldn't have thrown up at all. I know now that for years to come I am in good hands. No, not that the country will be in good hands regardless of which candidate wins this race, because it won't be, but I will have a great place to vote for the successor to this next four year abomination. And finally, in case you're wondering who I voted for, it was Paul Ryan, of course. #Merica
