A group of friends from around the region, including Ohio, wanted to meet up for a couple of days…read morebetween Christmas and New Year's Day and based upon a the previous stay of my wife and I several years ago, we all agreed to stay here. The location is unbeatable and it is accessible to everything that the beautiful and charming downtown of Doylestown has to offer with their bookstores, bars, restaurants, and shopping. The town even has a stand alone movie theatre. The Inn is charming, historic, quaint, cozy, and was decorated beautifully for the holidays. The Inn staff was very welcoming and warm and attached to a rustic restaurant called the Hattery Stove & Still (worth the visit). We stayed in the George Washington room on the second floor. It was a nice and quiet location and we only had a neighbor across from us and no rooms next to us on either side. Everything in our room worked to perfection and the housekeeping staff did their job nicely. There was a very visible rusted air vent in the bathroom that needed replacing and the mattress was very soft, not firm, causing us to fold into the center of the bed. There were no coffeemakers in the rooms but a carafe of hot water with a tea selection as well as a carafe of coffee in the lobby after 10:00 pm. Sadly, it is not there all day but only late at night. When our friend came down in the early morning for a cup of coffee, he mentioned it was cold and went across the street to Starbucks. The Inn does not have private parking so we were directed to the public parking lot, a half a block away, and the street parking. Parking was not free and you will have to pay during the day, however, there is no charge for overnight parking. The rates were inexpensive considering where I live in New Jersey. The price of the Inn was very reasonable and we would not hesitate to stay here again. None of these things I mentioned bothered my wife and I and we only point them out for your information only. The Inn is only 15 minutes from Peddler's Village and just a tad longer to New Hope, PA. This is a great location to stay and make the trips.

Charming inn for sure, staff is nice when you can find someone. Will need to use steps to get to…read moreroom which was difficult as I was alone with all the luggage and no one offers to help. They have an issue with the fire alarm going off with showers in some rooms. This occurred after 10pm, the siren, the 8+ firefighters with equipment climbing to the 3rd floor was a bit disturbing and I'm told this happens more than not. Overall cute place but can honestly report not sleeping well here.

This historic location was a rest and play stop for literary and theater New Yorkers in the 20s and 30s and probably beyond -- check out the famous signatures and notes in the albums in the main living room. The owners keep a handful of rescued farm animals (pot-bellied pigs, mini ponies, goats), and it is clear they are well cared for. It is a busy place for big wedding events now, and so we like to stay during the week. It is very relaxing to walk around the grounds. We saw a giant heron in the pond and deer strolling. There are so many nice places to sit outside with a bottle of wine and a book or snacks. Rooms are very unique and comfortable. You have a lot of different personalities to choose from: lofts, cabins, barn spaces, etc. Many have jacuzzis which can provide your evening entertainment, lol. We have not eaten in the restaurant because our top restaurant on earth is very close by, but when it was closed, Josh gave us great recommendations. And he made a lovely tofu scramble for breakfast as a special request. One sweet touch: despite checking the room, we left without my spouse's expensive phone charger. Housekeeping found it and ran after us before we could drive off without it. She did not have to do that. Always tip your housekeeping staff. The extended Covid months have been very hard on inns, restaurants, and event spaces, and it must be stressful for them as things come back to life when so many events have been postponed. It is wonderful to be back out again. We will return -- a lot.

Ideal, fine-dine in a bucolic setting…read more From the entrance along the graceful, scenic tree-lined driveway you'll know you're inn for a treat (pun intended!). The Barley Sheaf is very serious about pandemic precautions, so masks are in full effect, and they'll walk you to your socially-distanced table in a beautiful, outdoor gardening setting. The inn itself is an architectural delight, as well, so you are surrounded by beauty on all sides. Service was pleasant and forthcoming. I wouldn't say that this is the finest level of dining, of course, you're not expecting EMP in the middle of Bucks County, but this is a good attempt, and people are pleasant and quite dignified. The guests were all well attired and the crowd is polite and kind. Food is of the adventurous character, which I enjoy. A lot of different flavor combinations (they like to do salé and sucré), beautiful plating, interesting textures, and good cooking techniques. My favorites were the octopus appetizer (so buttery soft and tender, which is a rarity) and the pheasant special, which was a pleasant and apropos surprise in this outdoor, country setting. Finally, this is a BYOB restaurant with perfectly selected wine glasses, fine silverware, and other special touches such as a freshly starched linens, etc. which elevate the dining experience.

Beautiful grounds filled with all sorts of plants. There were so many flowers and plants blooming wonderfully so! Everything from corn to Dahlia! Lots of paths to walk around and get your steps!! There was also some very nice bands there performing by the covered seating. You could buy all kinds of seeds for $1.50 a packet! What a deal ! Every employee and/or volunteer were salt of the earth kind hearted . If you were tuckered out after a long day of fun, they also had mini golf cart rides to take you to the exit of the grounds and you can walk to your car freely . I would definitely come back to this place. It's wonderful to do some thing that is so meaningful to this county. The Burpee seed company is special & Mr. Burpee was great friends with author Pearl S. buck, who also lived nearby in Bucks County. I recommend it for locals and out of towners.

We bailed and parked a few blocks away and walked over. Once there, the long parking line situation was a blessing as it somewhat kept the crowd sizes not too crazy. Weather was good and the grounds were nice to walk around. They had some food trucks and a medium sized tent so you can take your food and eat (empanada man truck was quite good, as was the band that had the standup bass). They had quite a variety of plants, the kitchen garden was pretty neat for instance. The Stumpery was also pretty interesting, with old tree stumps covered in moss for instance. Overall a neat walk around a farm you can't typically access, hopefully they will consider opening up more for say a teaching partnership or limited event space, etc.
