To reach it, we went through the lobby and took the elevator down. As it was a Saturday night, there was a line, and the bouncer let only a few people in at a time since the place is small. About 20 minutes later, we made it to the front of the line and went in. There's definitely a speakeasy vibe with dark walls, retro photos on the walls, and subdued lighting. We found a seat at a small table and perused the menu which had a limited amount of cocktails and no food. My husband had to go to the bar to get our drinks although I was able to ask someone to clear and wipe down the table. I asked for a Chapter One cocktail (cool name) with vodka as opposed to gin, and it was quite good and not overly sweet. My husband liked his Bellhop Mule. I later tried the French 109 with cognac which was served in a Champagne glass. Keep in mind this is a quiet, sophisticated place without live music, so it's perfect for an after dinner drink rather than a party hangout.

After waiting a little while we realized that servers weren't coming around (there were 2) so ended up going up to the bar to order. Not the best set up for ordering at the bar as there are patrons seated there so hovering over them to order wasn't comfortable for them or us. Within a half an hour of coming, they got very busy and another server appeared. Not sure if they usually come around for orders or not. Overall, a good experience with tasty drinks. It's such a versatile place! From smaller conference rooms, studio spaces for one on one meetings, comfortable hotel rooms (reasonable priced, just a bit over a hundred) with all the amenities, and larger event rooms, too. I am really familiar with the event space downstairs. I've attended events and showcases in The Lafayette Ballroom. The room is large and can fit so many people. I believe 300. The ceilings are high and it's quite impressive. There's an outdoor area perfect for cocktail hour and an inclosed lounge area too. I've seen it draped, which is stunning and dramatic and left bare, showcasing the exposed bricks walls. Both gorgeous looks! This weekend, the party I was at took place in the lobby, which they decorated and draped how they wanted in their theme, in the downstairs bar area, and in the American Ballroom, which was much more intimate and cozy! The food here is catered strictly by Garces Events and is always a crowd pleaser. I've had tastes of a Cinco de Mayo themed event with mini churros and delicious baby tacos, a fancy event with gorgeous plated ceviches, lamb meatball skewers and other finer dining bites, and a casual buffet this past weekend. All different. All delicious! All events also included passed appetizers also. It seems like you could really create your own special menu here! The staff is wonderful! From the front desk helping me with information on a room, to the valet guys, to our waitress who introduced herself to our table at an our event, to the nice bartender who grabbed me a glass of club and lime long after the event was over, to the other friendly bartender mixing my signature smoking cocktail this past weekend, the entire staff have all been truly helpful, overly friendly and knowledgeable of their facility. The grounds here are gorgeous! There's a lush green golf course and even a helicopter pad for your rich friends haha. From the higher floors and the lobby entrance you can see for miles and it's stunning, especially lit up at night! It's also exceptionally beautiful in the fall from the higher floors! Not sure if he is still there, as this was ten years ago. Recently, I've been back for some meetings, including an all day meeting today. Wow, I was impressed last time when Wolfgang Puck ran the kitchen... Now Iron Chef Jose Garces group runs this place? Unreal... I arrived for my meeting and grabbed a quick continental breakfast. The meeting rooms were well organized, with notepads and pens for the guests. All of the equipment was working in all of the rooms and there were no technical issues at all. During one of our breaks, the breakfast food was gone, but candy and nuts were in it's place. Sweedish fish and almonds became my early morning snack. More meetings and then lunch time. We walk past the hotel section and I find out the food is now run by Jose Garces' group. There was a taco section, where they were making up these perfect little tacos. I was able to make my own corned beef sandiwch, along with homemade potato chips. I grabbed some fried chicken, pork tenderloin, and tortillas with guacamole. The pork was a little dry, but had great spicy flavor. Service excelled as waiters took our drink orders and pulled out chairs for guests to sit down. I decided to grab dessert and went with the pear cobbler with white chocolate sauce, but as soon as I sat down, I ran back to get one more short rib perfect taco. After eating that, I devoured the refreshing pear cobbler. Our next meeting would be starting soon, so we started back, but then we noticed an ice cream machine. Why not grab a small cone for the long walk back? well, I did. More meetings and then we had more snacks. A popcorn machine? Cheese, crackers? Waffles??? Amazing waffles with powedered sugar? I don't need dinner now, because I went to a conference at the Chubb center. Pure gluttony and now I have to wait until next year for my next meeting...

With this being a Motel I wasn't expecting much, but after the belligerent and very rude treatment…read morethat I received after trying to speak with the front office representative it has led me to post my honest review. Upon first glance while lights were off, the room seemed decent however, after turning on the lights, I noticed dead bugs on the bed cover, AC unit and even some areas of the floor. After pulling back the decorative sheet with dead bugs, I noticed that there was crumbs and unknown specs on the bed, and then upon pulling back that layer, I noticed some hair and staining. This was accompanied by hair found on the bathroom floor, a dirty fridge door and a mediocre cleaned microwave that was seemingly the least of our worries. This was a day motel stop after a very long night of driving from a trip out of state. After noticing these issues, I walked to the front office only to request new sheets to which the woman had a slight attitude and then told me that there was no bugs in the room without even coming to take a look. I ensured her there was to which she kept being defensive and then gave me keys to another room telling me that I should just take my stuff out of the room and go to another that she had given me the key to to which I complied. After taking the keys, I want to go check out the other room given that our first room wasn't in a favorable state, but I didn't want to just be stuck with a room worse than what we already had. The second room that she had given me key to the bed coverings were significantly cleaner however the room smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke that I could not stay in the room. I went back to the front office to disclose this and just get some fresh sheets and that's when the woman started stating that she would kick us out of our room that she gave us a "discount" on. Because I went alone to change the sheets, she then started making very distasteful comments saying that because I was the one who directly paid for the room, I shouldn't have a say, and or be picky of the state of the room, she also started getting very loud basically screaming telling me that I'm being difficult and that there's nothing wrong with the room because she's the one who cleans it, but didn't even step foot in the room to look and see what I was talking about, she kept trying to talk over me and kept insisting that because it's 8 AM there's no reason why I should be being this difficult when all I wanted from the start was fresh sheets. I never asked for her to change my room, especially knowing that we're only gonna be here for literally a couple of hours. Not even spending the night and after seeing the state of the room and her disgusting attitude towards me as a person I would not recommend to stay to anyone. I'm not a person who usually leaves reviews, but given such distasteful, dismissive, and very disrespectful treatment I felt this review was very necessary for those looking for a convenient and enjoyable experience because this was anything but that for me.

My family of 4 stayed at the Inn at Villanova University on the way home from a road trip…read more We were greeted by a very enthusiastic and welcoming concierge who filled us in on everything we needed about the hotel before checking us in. We were told that there was a gym and a game room on the second floor as well as some outdoor activities, but we didn't get a chance to check them out because we were only there for one night. Our room was on the first floor, so it was easy to transport our luggage from our car to our room. Our bedroom had 2 queen beds, a large desk/counter space, and a bathroom with a tub/shower. We all enjoyed the Villanova-themed decorations in the room. There were several charging ports throughout the room, which was helpful because all 4 of us needed to charge our phones overnight. The bathroom was clean and tidy, and stocked with all the essentials. We ran out of toothpaste, but luckily the concierge provided us with some travel-sized toothpaste free of charge. The water pressure in the shower was nice, but the shampoo and conditioner made everyone's hair feel greasy. We had no problems with our beds, but there were a couple issues with the rest of the bedroom. For some reason, there was a wet patch of carpet near the desk that was there before we even moved in. Also, there are no overhead light fixtures, so we could only get light from the backlit headboards on the bed or the bedside lamps (I did like that you could dim the lights on the lamp, though). Finally, the TV kept losing signal and we could only reach 3 channels. Overall, the Inn at Villanova provided a good 1-night experience for my family, but I think I would choose to stay somewhere else if I was planning on being in that area longer.

Because we arrived early we had a drink at the bar and enjoyed a conversation with Patty who was so kind and personable. Once we walked to the party at the gorgeous Montrose Mansion (which is attached to the Inn) we had a fabulous time. The following team members went over and above to ensure a good time: Bruce Mullen, Dean, Brie, Amir, Justin, Mel and BJ. Attention to detail and smiles overflowed by these individuals. We were treated with "over and above" hospitality. Oh, and how can I forget.....the almond croissants at the bar/cafe. They are totally worth every calorie.
