    Bathroom. Clean and modern.

We did a last minute switch from the Hampton to this lovely boutique hotel and we were so glad we did. The staff were fantastic especially Mary Helen! I could have talked to her all day! Our room (the Pearl Buck) over looked the Main Street with lots of windows and sunlight coming in. It's clean and modern and nicely decorated. The restaurant was very good with a 20% discount on food for hotel guests. It's small and quaint. I would stay here again and highly recommend. Yes the old fashioned key has a $100 fee if lost. We didn't hear noise at night and didn't hear any guest or hotel noises. Limited parking passes with good back up options. Parking lot is a short stroll. All worth it.

Great menu, cool old world decor and atmosphere offers outdoor seating and booths and was well spaced for Covid restrictions

Sticky substance on the foot of the bed at check in

First I should say that before posting this review I emailed the owner because I feel there are real issues she would want to address with her staff. Unfortunately the email was not acknowledged so I will give a condensed version of my email here. I stayed there for several days when I was in town for my daughter's wedding, so we had several rooms between family and friends. On two different occasions Brenda, one of the front desk staff, walked into occupied rooms using her master key and without knocking. One of these times walking in while someone was undressed and she offered not one word of apology, just "Oh wrong room" . One evening I was getting something from my closet and water dripped onto my arm. This is the closest where my daughter's wedding dress was hanging, my son's suit, my dress, etc. I went to the front desk and Brenda asked if it was "just clear water". Because I guess that is somehow not so bad. When she came to look at it she said "well it's only on one part of the closet". When I said that wasn't acceptable she said she would put me in another room. So, we pack up all of my things and move down the hall. When we get there she says I can't stay in that room that night so she gets a rolling clothes rack and back we go to the original room. At least I did get a room comp for that circus. There were so many other issues from the massive confusion booking rooms in the first place (which apparently only one person can handle), to housekeeping issues like a sticky substance on the foot of my bed when I checked in, or a guest being handed a trash bag when he asked to have his room cleaned up. Other issues about the hotel in general include: no loading zone to unload your bags, parking is three blocks away, you can take the elevator to the third floor but depending on your room you'll still have to drag your bags down and up a set of steps. Yes there is breakfast but only if you don't want coffee until after 9:00 otherwise you're hitting Starbucks across the street. There is an ironing board in the room but no iron because they said they get stolen, but I wasn't supposed to be concerned that the lock on my door didn't work. The one bright spot to applaud was the waitstaff we had for the rehearsal dinner and the brunch the next day. They were all wonderful.

.The service was fast and friendly. Sat on the outside seating along the street. A lot of traffic but nice to site outside on a spring evening. Had the lamb lollipops. The food was very well presented and flavorful.

Central location, great room, good prices. If you're coming to town, make it a night and stick around.

This historic location was a rest and play stop for literary and theater New Yorkers in the 20s and 30s and probably beyond -- check out the famous signatures and notes in the albums in the main living room. The owners keep a handful of rescued farm animals (pot-bellied pigs, mini ponies, goats), and it is clear they are well cared for. It is a busy place for big wedding events now, and so we like to stay during the week. It is very relaxing to walk around the grounds. We saw a giant heron in the pond and deer strolling. There are so many nice places to sit outside with a bottle of wine and a book or snacks. Rooms are very unique and comfortable. You have a lot of different personalities to choose from: lofts, cabins, barn spaces, etc. Many have jacuzzis which can provide your evening entertainment, lol. We have not eaten in the restaurant because our top restaurant on earth is very close by, but when it was closed, Josh gave us great recommendations. And he made a lovely tofu scramble for breakfast as a special request. One sweet touch: despite checking the room, we left without my spouse's expensive phone charger. Housekeeping found it and ran after us before we could drive off without it. She did not have to do that. Always tip your housekeeping staff. The extended Covid months have been very hard on inns, restaurants, and event spaces, and it must be stressful for them as things come back to life when so many events have been postponed. It is wonderful to be back out again. We will return -- a lot.

The Barley Sheaf is very serious about pandemic precautions, so masks are in full effect, and they'll walk you to your socially-distanced table in a beautiful, outdoor gardening setting. The inn itself is an architectural delight, as well, so you are surrounded by beauty on all sides. Service was pleasant and forthcoming. I wouldn't say that this is the finest level of dining, of course, you're not expecting EMP in the middle of Bucks County, but this is a good attempt, and people are pleasant and quite dignified. The guests were all well attired and the crowd is polite and kind. Food is of the adventurous character, which I enjoy. A lot of different flavor combinations (they like to do salé and sucré), beautiful plating, interesting textures, and good cooking techniques. My favorites were the octopus appetizer (so buttery soft and tender, which is a rarity) and the pheasant special, which was a pleasant and apropos surprise in this outdoor, country setting. Finally, this is a BYOB restaurant with perfectly selected wine glasses, fine silverware, and other special touches such as a freshly starched linens, etc. which elevate the dining experience.

Beautiful grounds filled with all sorts of plants. There were so many flowers and plants blooming wonderfully so! Everything from corn to Dahlia! Lots of paths to walk around and get your steps!! There was also some very nice bands there performing by the covered seating. You could buy all kinds of seeds for $1.50 a packet! What a deal ! Every employee and/or volunteer were salt of the earth kind hearted . If you were tuckered out after a long day of fun, they also had mini golf cart rides to take you to the exit of the grounds and you can walk to your car freely . I would definitely come back to this place. It's wonderful to do some thing that is so meaningful to this county. The Burpee seed company is special & Mr. Burpee was great friends with author Pearl S. buck, who also lived nearby in Bucks County. I recommend it for locals and out of towners.

We bailed and parked a few blocks away and walked over. Once there, the long parking line situation was a blessing as it somewhat kept the crowd sizes not too crazy. Weather was good and the grounds were nice to walk around. They had some food trucks and a medium sized tent so you can take your food and eat (empanada man truck was quite good, as was the band that had the standup bass). They had quite a variety of plants, the kitchen garden was pretty neat for instance. The Stumpery was also pretty interesting, with old tree stumps covered in moss for instance. Overall a neat walk around a farm you can't typically access, hopefully they will consider opening up more for say a teaching partnership or limited event space, etc.
