A group of friends from around the region, including Ohio, wanted to meet up for a couple of days between Christmas and New Year's Day and based upon a the previous stay of my wife and I several years ago, we all agreed to stay here. The location is unbeatable and it is accessible to everything that the beautiful and charming downtown of Doylestown has to offer with their bookstores, bars, restaurants, and shopping. The town even has a stand alone movie theatre. The Inn is charming, historic, quaint, cozy, and was decorated beautifully for the holidays. The Inn staff was very welcoming and warm and attached to a rustic restaurant called the Hattery Stove & Still (worth the visit). We stayed in the George Washington room on the second floor. It was a nice and quiet location and we only had a neighbor across from us and no rooms next to us on either side. Everything in our room worked to perfection and the housekeeping staff did their job nicely. There was a very visible rusted air vent in the bathroom that needed replacing and the mattress was very soft, not firm, causing us to fold into the center of the bed. There were no coffeemakers in the rooms but a carafe of hot water with a tea selection as well as a carafe of coffee in the lobby after 10:00 pm. Sadly, it is not there all day but only late at night. When our friend came down in the early morning for a cup of coffee, he mentioned it was cold and went across the street to Starbucks. The Inn does not have private parking so we were directed to the public parking lot, a half a block away, and the street parking. Parking was not free and you will have to pay during the day, however, there is no charge for overnight parking. The rates were inexpensive considering where I live in New Jersey. The price of the Inn was very reasonable and we would not hesitate to stay here again. None of these things I mentioned bothered my wife and I and we only point them out for your information only. The Inn is only 15 minutes from Peddler's Village and just a tad longer to New Hope, PA. This is a great location to stay and make the trips. read more

Charming inn for sure, staff is nice when you can find someone. Will need to use steps to get to room which was difficult as I was alone with all the luggage and no one offers to help. They have an issue with the fire alarm going off with showers in some rooms. This occurred after 10pm, the siren, the 8+ firefighters with equipment climbing to the 3rd floor was a bit disturbing and I'm told this happens more than not. Overall cute place but can honestly report not sleeping well here. read more

The website said "elevator" but there were still stairs! And two other complaints: no coffee in the room, and a "view" of a brick wall. Also, a tiny room, and a very low toilet. The bed was comfortable, and meals at the Hattery were delicious. read more

The Doylestown Inn is a lovely turn of the century hotel. The decor is beautiful and the staff are very friendly. The room is beautiful decorated and the bed is very comfortable. However all of this is lost when you can't sleep at night due to the noise outside. We were in the front of the building which faces W State St and the noise from the front porch below made it impossible to sleep. We are talking about people hanging out till 2am while the police sit on the corner watching them. Unfortunately, not getting any sleep has taken away from the charm and character of this sweet inn. Because the police were just sitting there and not asking the group to disperse, I"m assuming this was because they were on the inn's front porch which is private property? Don't know but all I do know is I will never stay here again. read more

We did a last minute switch from the Hampton to this lovely boutique hotel and we were so glad we did. The staff were fantastic especially Mary Helen! I could have talked to her all day! Our room (the Pearl Buck) over looked the Main Street with lots of windows and sunlight coming in. It's clean and modern and nicely decorated. The restaurant was very good with a 20% discount on food for hotel guests. It's small and quaint. I would stay here again and highly recommend. Yes the old fashioned key has a $100 fee if lost. We didn't hear noise at night and didn't hear any guest or hotel noises. Limited parking passes with good back up options. Parking lot is a short stroll. All worth it. read more

First I should say that before posting this review I emailed the owner because I feel there are real issues she would want to address with her staff. Unfortunately the email was not acknowledged so I will give a condensed version of my email here. I stayed there for several days when I was in town for my daughter's wedding, so we had several rooms between family and friends. On two different occasions Brenda, one of the front desk staff, walked into occupied rooms using her master key and without knocking. One of these times walking in while someone was undressed and she offered not one word of apology, just "Oh wrong room" . One evening I was getting something from my closet and water dripped onto my arm. This is the closest where my daughter's wedding dress was hanging, my son's suit, my dress, etc. I went to the front desk and Brenda asked if it was "just clear water". Because I guess that is somehow not so bad. When she came to look at it she said "well it's only on one part of the closet". When I said that wasn't acceptable she said she would put me in another room. So, we pack up all of my things and move down the hall. When we get there she says I can't stay in that room that night so she gets a rolling clothes rack and back we go to the original room. At least I did get a room comp for that circus. There were so many other issues from the massive confusion booking rooms in the first place (which apparently only one person can handle), to housekeeping issues like a sticky substance on the foot of my bed when I checked in, or a guest being handed a trash bag when he asked to have his room cleaned up. Other issues about the hotel in general include: no loading zone to unload your bags, parking is three blocks away, you can take the elevator to the third floor but depending on your room you'll still have to drag your bags down and up a set of steps. Yes there is breakfast but only if you don't want coffee until after 9:00 otherwise you're hitting Starbucks across the street. There is an ironing board in the room but no iron because they said they get stolen, but I wasn't supposed to be concerned that the lock on my door didn't work. The one bright spot to applaud was the waitstaff we had for the rehearsal dinner and the brunch the next day. They were all wonderful. read more

This inn couldn't be more quaint and adorable. And the location is perfect. I wish it was more comfortable. Little things like having good linens and pillows would sure make a difference. The windows are not sound proof so you hear everything from the street. And also within the walls of the hotel. It's impossible to have a good night sleep. Little things like the water, fans and fireplace did not work along with the TV having almost nothing you can watch. At this price point, cable and good linens are a must. Nothing you can do about the old inn part and that's part of the charm. With just a little more attention to detail and care this could be a fabulous place. But for now, it's cute, centrally located, but not a good place to rest. read more

hmmm, that king size 4-poster bed in my room sure gives me a few ideas. Up on the top floor it was a little warm, but that added to the cozy feeling. And the warmth enabled me to crack open a window for the cool, fresh night air to come in. Nice little place. Friendly staff. And the daughter of the woman who works the desk in the morning is a bartender at "The Other Side", a bar associated with Chambers restaurant just down the street. Yes, it's that small town kind of place where most peple know each other. One word of warning, you need to get the before 10:00 pm. if you are late, you can't get the key. read more

I stayed here for a wedding, and I'm glad I did because it's a very charming little inn. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, there aren't any weird odors anywhere, and the linens seemed pretty clean. The location is ideal - literally walking distance from a bunch of little shops, restaurants, bookstores, the SEPTA station, random art galleries, etc. Rooms are pricey, around $200/night. read more

We had stayed at the Inn a few years ago and found it unique and charming with so much character, you have to experience it yourself to get the full effect and ambiance. When our daughter decided on Doylestown for their wedding celebration, we were delighted they chose the Inn for our accommodations. The Inn was perfect for the location of our event. The Inn's customer service went above and beyond our needs. We worked directly with the front desk (Christina) from initial booking to the day of our celebration. Great location but parking an issue. They have 6 assigned spots a block and a half away. No happy hour on Sundays to watch the football games in two very nice bars they have there. The rooms are not updated. Old TV that did not turn on nor off with the remote. Had to manually do so. They came to fix only to turn on the TV manually. No remote fix. The sheets were not of fine quality and the shower situation was not ideal. I suggest having management sleep in each room every quarter of the year and make. List of improvements. I had a small wedding reception for my daughter on 5/28/22, and I can't say enough good things about it, the waitresses Bernadette and Ilia were terrific the event manager Brenda was fantastic!! The Doylestown Inn is so charming. The lobby and restaurants are so cute and unique. The rooms are a bit more dated and should be showed some of the same creativity that has been brought into the public areas. The staff was very nice and allowed us to change rooms when our AC went out. I hope that the hotel sees more renovations and updates in the future and I'd like to visit again! The restaurant is nicely decorated and the food is very good but the service was slow. We did eat all our meals here though and really enjoyed it. read more

I've been coming to the Doylestown Inn for some years, ever since their re-opening. It was a great choice for my family visits because of its location--right in the middle of a very walkable town--and for its in-house restaurant, The Hattery. In an area with some great eateries, the Hattery more than holds its own, with fresh, inventive fare and fab cocktails. The Hattery is so convenient and so delicious that in the past I've entertained folks for all three meals in a day and only felt lucky. The restaurant, the locale, and the friendly Inn staff were all pluses. The rooms at the Inn, however, were no great shakes. They were trying to play off the "antique" vibe that is so representative of Bucks County, but instead, the accommodations were pretty shabby. But no longer! To my delight, during my recent trip I discovered that the rooms were no longer shabby but chic! The redos included updated air conditioning, televisions, and some bathroom renovations. Some of the old antiques are still there but now they are highlighted by fresh, neutral new flooring and wall covering. Beds are comfortable with lovely linens. To be sure, not everything was redone but having experienced 2 different rooms, I can say that I can't wait for my next trip back. Just to top it off--in the past, the Hattery was closed for breakfast during some weekdays which was always disappointing because breakfast is one of the best things they do. But now, they are open for that all-important morning meal every single day. Between the beautiful, fresh rooms and those perfectly-poached eggs, I am one happy traveler! read more

My husband and I stayed at the Doylestown Inn this past Saturday for our anniversary. The hotel was tastefully decorated. We loved all the crystal chandeliers that were up for sale. The rustic furniture and wide planked floors were all beautiful touches. The restaurant and basement bar were packed with patrons. We had a few drinks at the bar Saturday night. The bartender was great and the crowd was pretty interesting as well. Our room was small and cute. It was just right for a short stay. Everything was clean, including the bathroom. Definitely, no complaints. Not quite sure why some of the reviews are very critical. We truly enjoyed our stay. Thanks for the parking space, which really helped us save time on circling around town. We have stayed at The Doylestown Inn many times over the past 10 years. We have seen it change hands, close and reopen. The lobby renovations are beautiful. I loved the wall of suitcases and the section of ceiling tiled with cigar boxes, very unique. With that creativity I was hoping the rooms would have a new design twist. Unfortunately that is where the renovations and updates have ended. The halls and rooms are dated and beat up. There is a beautiful sky light on the third floor. It lets in so much natural light. Unfortunately the prints hanging on the walls now look terrible. They have all faded from the sun. They desperately need to be replaced and the walls painted. This visit we were in room 311. In our room there were a few water spots on the ceiling and in the bathroom the baseboards were seriously damaged by water and starting to mold. When I used the sink I quickly realized that there was a leak in the pipe as I was now standing in a puddle. The furniture is too big for the space. This room has two queen-size beds. Both of the mattresses were as hard as rocks and the linens and blankets were scratchy and uncomfortable. One thing that I don't like in a hotel room is when the blackout drapes do not close all of the way and in the morning the sunlight peers in. In this case the room faces the east and therefore gets sunrise light. Before for breakfast you received vouchers for the Starbucks across the street. It was nice to walk over and have a selection of coffee, tea and pastries. Now there is a bowl of whole fruit and 4 bagels, that you had to toast yourself and coffee. Breakfast is not something they do well and they really need to address it. Either improve it, go back to partnering with Starbucks or ditch it all together. The woman at the front desk was warm and welcoming when we arrived, however, the high school girl and her visiting friend when we returned back after dinner was unsettling. Not only is it unprofessional to have a friend sitting here chatting and texting I found it unsafe to have such a young and inexperienced person at the front desk of the hotel until 10pm. After 10p the front door is locked and someone returns at 7-8am. This beautiful and historic inn appears to be in mid-renovations. It would be nice if they informed guests of it or just hurried up and finished the rooms and hallways. We most likely won't stay here again until we know the rooms are finished. There are now plenty of other inns and chain hotels around. read more

Mixed reviews on this hotel. I love doylestown and wanted to spend a romantic evening with my Fiance. The room was lovely however the noise from the street woke us up at 6am. My fiancé left for work and I asked if I could have a later check out at noon (normally 11am) and they refused. I had to drag my bags down the street to the bus station to catch the plane in Newark and sit there for 2 hours. I was just really surprised because there were only two rooms taken in hotel that evening my room and one other. Could they have just said yes to 1 hour? It's not like they had a fully booked hotel. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Lastly I book events all over the U.S. and recommend venues and hotels to clients daily. I had such a negative experience that it pains me I won't be recommending this inn. read more

I must be clear this review is for the restaurant not the actual Inn. My fiance and I stopped in at the restaurant while we were in Doylestown for the afternoon. The atmosphere was awesome, service was excellent and the food was great. Our waiter was very attentive and accomodating and very personable. I had a burger and my fiance had the hot roastbeef sandwich and they were both delicious. We were also very impressed that they had Founders KBS on tap which is very difficult to come by so kudos to the bar manager who was able to secure it. We are getting married next year in Doylestown and the the Doylestown Inn is number 1 on our list to stay at with our wedding party and potentially our rehearsal dinner. The woman at the front desk was very helpful with giving us information on booking and setting up time to speak with Francine when she returns. My apologies I forget your name. read more

We were in town for 3 nights for a wedding. It was on October 19th, 2018. The Inn is lovely. The rooms are nicely appointed. The big issue we had is the bed caused my husband to have a backache that almost 2 months later he is still suffering from. If they got better beds I would give this place 5 stars. read more

Came here for a stay overnight, and it was a nice inn. Comfy beds, TVs in each room, and a pretzel place is right next door to the inn. I love the Doylestown inn because it has comfy beds and wood floors. I better come back! Maybe even get a tour!!!!!!! read more

We stayed at the Inn while in town for our Sons wedding. Would totally recommend staying here. The staff is A plus, it's not often you get honked and waved at by someone at the Hotel you are staying at while roaming the streets. Loved the room and enjoyed the quiet evenings it provided. The Hattery was a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch/dinner. The food was very very good and our service was fast and friendly. Cannot say enough good things about the Inn. Just spent 6 nights at the Doylestown Inn and can thoroughly recommend it. Despite ongoing remodelling work to add a bar and restaurant, there was virtually no noise or disruption and, even so, we received repeated apologies for the fact that it was under way. The staff were all extremely friendly,welcoming, efficient and helpful and made us feel "like one of the family". Our room was large and very comfortable. The hotel's location in the very centre of town is perfect, surrounded as it is by numerous fabulous restaurants, lovely individual shops and several interesting museums and other sites well worth visiting (James A Michener museum and art gallery, Fonthill Castle and the Mercer Museum). My husband and I fully intend to return some time in the future and, if the restaurant is as good as the rest of the hotel, it will be close to perfection. read more
