With the Plaza Art Fair pulling seemingly half of KC into the Brookside/Plaza, we decided against a long walk and to try the Main Max bus to get there this year. The result? Overall, it's a win!
For starters, this is free. Gratis. Complementary. It's great to not have to research the exact fares, but much more importantly, to serve everyone equally.
Now it was LATE late. Like, 30 minutes late. Fortunately we were right by a playground, so our family easily killed the time and monitored it via Google Maps. The route for us goes by some other favorites (Spin Pizza, Peanut, towards downtown north, as well as Waldo south) so we'd consider doing it again.
During Covid, like all of KCMO, masks are required and everyone was understanding. They also are ADA compliant as someone with a disability was able to be well-situated mid ride.
Now we missed our return bus, not to any fault of theirs, but to our bad timing (gestures at my four year old). Fortunately other options are available, like a scooter that I had a blast taking home and then picked up the whole fam.
Props to Ride KC for having a free bus, and for having lots of good stops along the way. We have cars and will use those more often than not, but it's nice to have other options especially during peak times. read more
