But starting last fall, Reuben and his business just "went off the air". We knew he was leaving the Aptos area and retiring to Merced. He told us he had purchased a home there and was looking forward to it. At some point last fall his phone continued to work and I could leave messages but he simply stopped communicating. We gave up after numerous tries and felt bad that Reuben wouldn't call us back or put on a recording thanking his good customers and saying he had retired and wasn't accepting any more requests for service. Each trip was well performed in a reliable and professional way. In June of 2023 we arranged with MET for transit to SJC from my home by sedan. Pickup was set for 5:40 AM. This agreement was confirmed by email from MET 2 days before the scheduled date. At the appointed time, no driver came. I phoned MET multiple times that day with no answer. No explanation was ever provided. To not show up and not inform us in any way is irresponsible and unacceptable. I will not use MET again.

Sometimes when I travel I do the driving, and recently sometimes I let someone else do most of the…read moredriving. My last trip to California was a combination of both strategies. We flew to California from Portland, Oregon. Rented an automobile in San Jose and drove down the coast after a few sights were enjoyed before we ended up on Cannery Row in Monterey. We then were picked up with California Horizons Tours and did the bucket list sight seeing in Monterey, Pacific Grove, 17 Mile Drive, Carmel-By-The-Sea, Big Sur as far as the McWay Waterfalls all on day one. Day two of the tour took us from Monterey down Highway 101 to the coastal area near Moro Bay after we had done the Grand Rooms Tour at the Hearst Mansion. There was nothing that the tour could do about the tempermental Coast weather, and a lot of the desired sights were reduced by the fog that started as we entered the 17 Mile Drive on day one of the tour. Fog was still a little bit foggy by Moro Bay. Our last day, saying goodbye to our tour guide was a San Luis Obispo City and County exploration with another car rental. Light beverages were provided as well as a very comfortable vehicle and an experience and entertaining and informative guide who took us to those places that we asked to see and provided time at many stops to enjoy the locations. We learned a lot and stopped at the few locations that the our guide knew about and sensed based on our interests would be more interesting. I like historic and interesting buildings so things I wouldn't have necessarily know about were added to the tour. I live in a wine growing area in Oregon, so visiting wineries were not neccessary. All in all our 4 days in California were wonderful. The weather was warm and dry. The traffic was much calmer while I drove, and while the tour guide drove. I never felt to be in potential traffic harm. My most recent vacation involved myself driving almost 2,000 plus miles in a rental car. This time over half of the driving was done by a profession which allowed me to take several thousand photos without worrying that I was missing something, or having to stop so often. I would recommend this business to anyone who wants to be taken around a very beautiful part of California, learning things, and just having a great time.
