The girls working tonight may 23rd were absolutely rude! I wanted large banana and chocolate peanut butter twist in a waffle cone. I was given this weird looking ice cream and when I asked them why it looks so different. They said they're cleaning the star on a machine. I was in Scranton helping my daughter move into the area. I stopped for gas on my way back to my daughter's apartment and saw the line of people waiting to be served ice cream next door. After a long day of moving things in, an ice cream treat sounded perfect. My daughter and her dog hopped in the car for some ice cream on a beautiful May evening and we headed back to Main Ave Ice Cream. There is next to no parking at Main Ave Ice Cream and only window service available. There are two picnic tables available but people seemed happy enough to share space. The first thing I was asked is would our dog like an ice cream. Free of charge, my daughter's one year old rescue had his first ice cream with a dog cookie on top. FYI the dog LOVES ice cream. My daughter and I shared a medium cup of Moose Tracks. The portions are very large and delicious. The pricing was surprisingly small for such a large helping. I noticed that a lot of people were ordering the soft serve ice creams. That seemed to be the specialty. It is nice to know this little ice cream store is within walking distance. Main Ave Ice Cream has three things going for it. 1. The ice cream is delicious. The have your standard fares: sundaes, cones and shakes. They have featured flavors of soft serve daily. 2. The prices are low. Two can eat for under $10. I'm talking sundaes not cones. 3. The most important to me. They give free small ice cream bowls with a Milkbone for your dog. It's great to take the dog for a walk and grab ice cream for you and dog. Highly recommend this place. read more

I have gone here since they have opened when I was a kid. They have the best ice cream I have ever tasted. Their soft serves are homemade and change frequently. My absolute favorite is the soft serve pumpkin and vanilla swirl which you can only get in late September or early October. The best part is that they have a pumpkin pie sundae! It makes you want to upsize from your normal size you get. The staff are great. The prices are very reasonable. The only thing is that they take cash only. read more

This walk-up ice cream shop can get very busy, which just makes the fact that there is extremely limited outdoor seating (two picnic tables) and a small, awkward parking lot that much more obvious. It's also cash only. So, what otherwise might be an unremarkable neighborhood ice cream counter actually has one big distinction: they have four flavors of soft-serve going at any given time. I've had pumpkin, banana and raspberry soft serve, sometimes swirled with chocolate or vanilla. This might be the only place I can think of that does flavors of soft serve other than chocolate or vanilla. They have two machines, so why not? Sure, there are places that do the "flavor burst" with that colorful gel, but this is the real deal. read more
