Once we were taking our Pastor friend and his wife from Japan around the island, and they wanted to stop there to purchase a bag of Bits of Chips and hand-carried it back to Japan! Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Samples are freely given out as you enter the showroom, and you can take it out back and try the different toppings. Service is efficient and quick. The building houses its small showroom retail store and is their factory where the chips are cut and fried. Hours of operation are Mon to Fri 9a to 5p, Sat 9a to 3p, Sun closed. Lots of free parking in their private lot. Cross the street and visit their sister showroom, 'Ulu Chip Factory, where you can find seasonal breadfruit chips combined with cassava chips, as well as the the Keith's cookies line. Trump's tariff implementation has raised prices twice in 2025 with increased packaging costs due to supplies coming from China. There is a covered area with several picnic tables near the entrance as well as 2 porta potties. The market itself is not very big and housed in one small but long building. There are a few vendors on the porch area selling flavored water, baked goods, honey, and other goodies. Upon entering the building, the majority of produce will be to your right. To the far left is the checkout area. They accept bankcard and cash. Most of the items are packaged with signs and prices by each type of produce. The display of produce is neatly laid out and well-stocked. They even provide rolling shopping baskets for your convenience. Today they were having a 4th of July special on their sweet corn - buy 4 bags, get 1 free. The table was packed full when I arrived & in less than a half hour, it was empty. I was fortunate to grab a bag. Prices were reasonable and comparable to other farmer's markets. They were also selling Waialua cage-free jumbo eggs, 1 dzn for $6 and also Kauai shrimp in 2 sizes. Cashiers were very friendly and personable. Even though there was a line, both cashiers worked fast and efficiently. The ladies were fast ringing us up and helped bagged our produce. Place was clean and open space. Before the produce on the outside there were other vendors selling honey and baked goods. Love that there's lots of free parking that can be difficult for the area so this day was the day to peek in and settle my curiosity. Though from the outside window lists several items like ice cream, crack seed, soft drinks, icee and toys just to name a few walking in I just didn't expect to see the variety of snacks so neatly arranged in boxes and bins...kakimochi, dried fruits and crack seeds including fresh boiled peanuts in the chilled display case they certainly had that and so much more. The man there was nice and patient as I browsed around this cool shop that keeps up with the old school snacks that we love along with some newer items as well to keep the cravings in check. The prices are comparative and a lot of times better than you will find in the store for local produce. They also have a few food vendors here. The last time we were there we decided to try out one of the vendors that was making special musubis and we bought 3. Sometimes when people try to "improve" on classics, its good... like spam katsu, or chicken katsu musbi... but these were just kind of weird. We got flavors like curry musubi and my husband got something spicy that was just way too spicy for me. I guess I just like my regular spam musubi. Anyways, the farmers market at Kaise itself is great.

There is one "anchor" vendor always here offering a decent assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables for a reasonable price. The quality is pretty good, and they often give away something with your purchase, like ripe bananas that aren't selling fast enough. Besides the veggie stand, there are vendors selling food at lunchtime (again, they change on a regular basis). I've seen Indian food, Middle Eastern, vegetarian, Asian, Mexican, chili, etc. There is usually a massage therapist offering chair massage, $10 for 10 minutes. She is very good. I've also seen vendors here selling honey, baked goods, sun hats, jewelry, plants, etc. You never know what you'll find on any given day. Just go and check it out! (Remember to bring cash since most of the vendors don't take credit cards.) If you're a Kaiser member, you might also want to check out the OTC drugs in the pharmacy area while you're here as the prices are pretty good. If you are driving here, you can park in metered stalls on the street or use their on-site parking garage. If you stay under 30 minutes, there is no charge; beyond that it is a $3 flat rate. Thankfully this tiny but mighty market exists. Do I hope for a better selection of prepared foods and a few more farmers/ vegetable vendors? Of course I do! I also believe in my heart that they will come back if the customer base grows. This market is held from 3-5pm every Friday. It is currently three produce stands, one juice stand, and two people with ready made food. The space allows for quite a few more tables, and the customers that are there are all happy to have the chance to shop and possibly take home a quick meal. My guess is that they are all in the same mindset as me- loving the idea that I can have the freshest possible salad for dinner and a few things to snack on for the next few days. Prices are excellent, with all three of the vendors currently offering a deal of three small bags of vegetables for $5. I find that we spend $20- $30 every week and have enough to last us the weekend. Cash is preferred, though I believe that everyone currently take cards. Also remember your shopping bags or basket, because juggling tomatoes and long beans is not easy. There's plenty of parking in the lot or on the street, and the shopping center is obviously filled with stores that will help you fill out your Friday evening desires. The Friday Fresh Market is a fantastic asset to the neighborhood, and has the potential to be even better.
