I had been to several places prior that were unable to help me and I had just about given up when someone suggested giving a go here. I'm so glad that I did because they were helpful, kind, and knowledgeable- to top it off, I had the opportunity to have a lovely chat with the people at the desk (as well as interacting with a dog called Olive). What every seasoned traveler finds by moving around is that unexpected things happen and it's not so much what happens to us as it is what we do with the collection of experiences. This is one of those times. It could've easily been an unfortunate day and by all means, it's normal to feel human emotions. But what I can say is that things have a way of turning the way they are meant to, as evidenced by having authentic connection with everyone here. When I do come back to visit, I wouldn't mind popping by to say hello. I'm thankful for your help and compassion, and look forward to more philosophical inquiries. Cheers!

If I force myself to look past the widescreen boredom that is this shop then I can appreciate that it is actually filled with very useful services. If you need a special mail box because you don't trust the one at your house then this is a good shop to go to. If like me you need to get lots of things photocopied and have very little money I give this a big Yelp stamp of approval. It also offers quite cheap Internet access so if you are in the area and freak out about needing to update your Twitter or check how much spam your email account has then pop in.

Royal Mail have a delivery office/ collection point where you can pick up your undelivered recorded mail provided that you collect within 18 days and bring your slip with a form of recognised identification with you. The mornings are the best time to collect your parcels as as the office is normally quieter, loads of people go after work, with Christmas time being a nightmare.

My reason for having to was…read morethat the postie had failed to deliver my parcel so I needed to either schedule a redelivery or pick it up from the sorting office. In the past I've been pretty unimpressed with the service here. I've often arrived to be told my parcel isn't here, or that they can't find it. Occasionally I've even been given other people's mail by mistake and had to explain that no, that's not me or my address and ask them to check again. I think I've seen more customers losing their tempers with staff in this building than I've seen in any other. However, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they have late opening hours on Wednesdays which makes it possible to collect parcels after work. When I arrived there was no queue of angry customers (there were no customers at all) and I had my parcel in my hands in record time. Maybe they've improved recently. It's still only enough to get 3 stars from me but I definitely recommend taking advantage of those late opening hours.

Now I am no biker, I know very little about bikes, the world of bikes or even the world of bike shops. But the guys behind the counter are really friendly and made me feel very welcome as they explained the basics. If you are interested in buying then they will walk you through and they don't push a sale. Gear also sell all manner of bike accessories, from lights and helmets to pedals and pumps. If you ever find your bike in need of some love, they also offer bike repairs and tune-ups at a very reasonable price. Though because they are well known in the area you may have to wait a few days before it is ready. What I really love about the shop is the biker community vibe. They leave a pump outside the store for anyone to use and they have helped a friend of mine with his breaks for free. Gear also sell pocket cycle maps of where best to go for a bike ride in the city so if you pop by I highly recommend that you spend £5 on that little gem.
