Almost needless to say, I took some clothes straight down to the shop (which you'll find just round the corner from 'Subway' through the door on the left and up the stairs) and left them (along with a deposit) with a friendly lady there. A few days later I went back to pick up the clothes, which were beautifully repaired, and to pay the balance of a few pounds. Certainly cheap for such professional work and I shall definitely return when I need any more sewing done!

The staff are very friendly, helpful and honest about how well the repair can be expected to be. For instance, there are no false promises if you have left something for too long to repair. Their prices are very reasonable, so maybe this is why - nowhere else in the West End have I found a cheaper deal than their 4 items drycleaned for a tenner - which includes leather and suade items, and either one dress or jacket per batch. Silk is included too - which is great when you can pay huge amounts at other drycleaners to keep your delicate items in shape (oo-er). The staff were pretty intense- to the point that I wondered if the chap who spoke to me was high on more than just life, but he was friendly and accomodating none-the-less, and very forceful in sharing the box of sweets on the counter. I had my 8 items worth of clothes back in three days, and they were perfectly clean and unstained. Although do smell a liiiittle bit like a new car... hence the 4 stars rather than 5.

Same day service costs a few pounds extra. Being a minuscule five foot two and a half inches (that extra half inch is very important) I pretty much need to get all my trousers taken up unless I got them from the "petite" otherwise known as "short arse" section of clothing stores. Since using Skint, I have become something of an tailor addict, getting dresses nipped at the back and tucked at the waist all over the place. It is amazing the difference a slight alteration can make. Bonus points for little bowl of sweets on the counter.

Hidden away on Union Street, it isn't the easiest of places to find, but it has a fantastic reputation, and the work they've done for me has always been to a great standard and a reasonable price. In terms of time they are pretty quick, and I think you can pay a little extra if you want it same day (not sure on this though!). I usually get trousers and jeans taken up, but I have had some significant alterations done to some expensive suits and they have done really good work on them. Again, I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think they might be cash only - the cost is usually under £10, so it isn't a huge deal. There are always sweeties at the till, which is a huge bonus!

As we had been in lockdown I was really panicking I would not get my dress altered in time - I wanted to add burgundy lace motifs to back of my dress and along the train. When I contacted Carol she was so friendly and said she would fix my dress in time for my wedding which I was absolutely delighted about. When I met her she immediately put me at my ease and her professionalism was second to none. She also added in bust cups, and took it in at the sides. I also found her to be one of the nicest and genuine people I have met. Not only did she give me my dress of my dreams she also made some alterations to my new husband's suit for which we are very grateful for. Carol was so accommodating…read moreand squeezed me in during a very bus period, gave me advise on what could be done to the dress I already had vs the new dress I got (we went with the new dress). I have scarring on my back which I am very self conscious about, and the dress I got was strapless, so she worked her magic to add fabrice to the back, chest and sleeves, and even managed to match the lace already on the dress. She made sure each piece of lace was attached to exactly cover any prominent scarring and didn't finish until I was completely happy. I felt flawless on my wedding day thanks to the hard work and attention from the staff here. She even gave me recommendations on other aspect of my outfit when I was worried about my shape which helped dramatically. Cannot recommend them enough! The studio is bright and airy and very clean, although it's a wee bit of a maze to get there within the building. They are cash only though so when it comes to paying make sure you bring money with you.

Probably one of the best computer shops in the area…read more I had major, major issues with another computer repair shop in Motherwell who were seriously messing me around, so I brought my beloved laptop here, and they fixed it for me in two days (compared to the other shops 2 WEEK effort) It wasn't even that expensive, but they really did save my life, and all of my Uni coursework too. They also sell other things computery, like cables and mouse mats and more technical stuff that I couldn't really explain to you, and do mobile phone repairs. It's a bit of an all round technological repair centre really. All of the stars go to how efficient and quick the guys here were, and they never bamboozled me with any jargon either. Brilliant.
