We had the most amazing high tea experience here on a Saturday morning. We came at 11, as soon as they opened and had the place to ourselves! Chelsea was a wonderful server. I am so glad someone recommended me to come to high tea at Maiden. Really, you will be shocked that everything is vegan. The only item that made it seem different was not having honey. However, the chef has invented a "honey" syrup that copies the taste exactly! The consistency is more liquidy but satisfies your desire to sweeten your tea with a touch of honey. The tea selection was plentiful. There are so many herbal and caffeinated teas to choose from. A favorite of the table was the walnut green tea. We ended up trying all the teas on the menu, and we all kept going back to that one! I highly recommend ordering it. The nutty flavor was creamy and delicious! The food was exquisite. I loved the cucumber and chick pea (*chicken* salad) sandwich. Props to the chef on the *lox* sandwich made with a carrot slice. Truly creative and tasty. On the next tier, the biscuit with jam was unbelievable. Flaky pastry with the tastiest jam. I am still befuddled on how they made such a beautiful, flaky biscuit without real butter. Applause to the chef! Another stunner was... pickles! I know you might be surprised. They were fresh, crisp, and full of zingy flavor. I want more! If they sold by the jar, I would happily buy them. By far, my favorite dessert was the chocolate puff with coconut cream inside. All of the food was neatly presented and instantly had you salivating! I appreciated the small details like the candied orange peels and ginger. We were all surprised that we got full from tea time and even had a few leftovers. Words cannot express how amazing our experience was at Maiden Fine Plants & Spirits. My husband drove us all the way from San Antonio to bring me here for a surprise birthday dinner. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly host and were sat promptly for our 4-course tasting menu. Kendall, our personable server, was very knowledgeable and explained each ingredient of our food and drinks in great detail. We started with delicious, unique cocktails as we admired the mid-century modern motif. Our food & drinks were visually appealing like art work, almost too magnificent to be edible. We indulged our senses in the aromas and our palates were engrossed with unique flavor combinations. We were so impressed with our meal, that we took Kendall's advice and returned the next evening for more cocktails and to try the steak and frites. We knew this was an opportunity we could not pass up as this is the only TX restaurant that serves Chunk Foods vegan steak. A phenomenal experience - what a privilege it is to have a restaurant of this caliber in Fort Worth. If you are familiar with Spiral Diner, Maiden shares the same ownership. Service throughout the night was wonderful, and ambience was nice and cozy. Food wise you have several options, ranging from 4/8 courses to a-la cart. We opted for the 8 course meal and spent about 3 hours at the restaurant. While it may seem like a while, the pace was calculated and on the money - around 10 minutes between each dish. For me, the highlight of the restaurant is the option for drink pairings- there is a wine pairing, non alcoholic pairing, and the true star of the show - the eclectic pairing, where they pair the food with the BEST drink pairing, which may not necessarily be wine. All in all I can't recommend Maiden enough - as I am writing this review I can't help but smile, as the staff has truly set the bar high for what a true fine dining experience in Fort Worth should be. read more

I stopped in to visit the bar this past Saturday and I cannot wait to book a full experience! The restaurant, while intimate, is so lovely! One can tell that the decor was thoughtfully planned to add to the experience. Every single person I encountered was extremely professional and friendly. Our bartender, Bird, had such a calming, helpful and inviting demeanor and was very knowledgeable. I tried two cocktails, a daiquiri and an espresso martini, as well as the cheese plate and everything was phenomenal! I was especially impressed by the cheese plate as it was not only delicious but more than enough to satisfy two. Having read no reviews we came in blind, only to be blown away by an otherworldly combination of impeccable service, mind-bending flavors and tastes that have to be experienced to be understood and relished. What a beautiful experience. Stick with me here, I loved it so much so I have a lot to say. Before I even entered I immediately loved the patio area. It's such a sweet spot, the way it's nestled under the overhang of the structure. The interior space is a striking retro vibe, but done in more modern tones. As day becomes evening they lower the lights and it's cozy and soothing. For some reason I really felt like I was in an upscale lodge in New Mexico. I mean, understand I've never been to New Mexico so I have no idea where the feeling came from. lol Trust me when I say my best friend and I are not wealthy, but sometimes you need to have a special experience, and we love food. Like... really love. This experience is not cheap and every add-on is additional, so I think our total before tax and tip was about $400 for the 8 course with eclectic pairing and two additional drinks. So anyway, cost aside, this experience was divine. My friend dressed nice, I wore a TCU t-shirt, jeans, and Vans. No one judged me, everyone was so warm from start to finish. The host helps serve the food and clear tables between courses (he was very attentive), the bartender offers tidbits on drinks and the glassware (which is beautiful, even the water glasses), everyone works together here to make this train run smoothly. Warren, the bartender was so nice, very welcoming. I ordered a drink before our 8 course tasting started. He is amazing. Those drinks, alcoholic AND the mocktails, were done so well. I'll call him a tour guide instead of server... our tour guide was Adam. He was such a lovely person. He was very clearly passionate about Vegan food, and he's also quite a fan of Chef Amy. Totally understandable, she's worthy of fandom. If you've ever been to Spiral Diner (shout out to the Mitch Tofu Club, I heart you), you understand Chef Amy gets vegan food. She knows how to flavor it, how to prepare it, and how to pair it. I learned during this experience that the comforting food I've grown accustomed to over the last almost 17 years since I discovered Spiral, can be elevated and not lose that comfort. I am not a vegan. But my wife is kinda sorta thinking about it. Long story. Took her here for her birthday last week. I am giving it 4 stars mainly because while we had a great experience, I couldn't honestly say that I craved anything I had so much that would cause me to want to go back. It is a really nice place and the food was great, but all pretty expensive, at least for what we had. We did the 5 course meal with the wine pairings. And while there is some real artistry here with the food, nothing we had was something we need to ever have again. That sounds mean but I don't mean it. OK here's the details: Really cute place. Not that large, very modern and clean. The bar is small but just looking at it is like a work of art. We parked on the street just outside for free. The booths are small but nice - velvet-y seats, actual real candles which I appreciate. (Why places started using fake candles I'll never know - defeats their purpose). Waitress was super happy to explain it all to us which I appreciate. I've never done a blank-course whatever so this was new to me, but I've seen this on TV. Big explanations for each dish, genuine excitement for the diners. Sweet kid. The 5-course meal was nice because you don't have to think about what you're getting. Just sit down, experience the chefs artistry. Neat. Oh - when you make the reservation online you can enter some text - I said I don't like pumpkin or squash because it's a vegan place and it's the fall so I expected a big bowl of (gross) pumpkin soup or whatnot. You should know, as I now do, that doing a 5-course meal is not going to be anything like that. Each dish was very elegant with innumerable flavors to suss out. We had fun with each. We got the broth thing first - you'll see photos of that on here (not from me). It was super interesting and I'm glad the waitress told us what was in it because we had fun trying to find those flavors. The "cheese" plate was our favorite - super rich - do cut each into 4ths when eating - note the crust can be difficult to cut through elegantly but - we did say the next day these 3 different bites was our favorite thing. Oh - two dishes had impossibly thin cut potatoes/squash or apples in the case of the desert. That was nuts. We have been trying to guess how the hell they cut them so thin? Lasers? Alien technology!?! Pretty neat stuff. Loved all the different wine pairings. We bought 2 bottles to take home - which is awesome and more places need to do this. Don't worry - they don't sing happy birthday or anything goofy - the desert plate for my wife had Happy Birthday written out in sauce. Classy. Expensive! Quite. But, for a once in a lifetime experience, it was worth it. My wife was happy which is goal # 1 for me. But me, as a non-vegan, I thought it was all good, but I can't honestly recommend it really unless you are 1) vegan and 2) rich. We do plan on going back - they have a dog-friendly patio and a normal menu full of things we want to try. This place is really special! We don't have anything like it in our area and I've thought that for years when I've wanted to go out for a more upscale meal with my best friend who is vegan. Sometimes you don't just want a restaurant with a vegan option (that's probably salad lol). You want a restaurant where your vegan friends can eat everything on the menu! One of my favorite bites was their take on a lox sandwich which had brined and smoked carrot slices, cream cheese, and capers on a mini croissant-like bread. The flavors created were so familiar yet very much their own. I enjoyed their fig jam thoroughly as well which featured a zero-proof alcohol. Their tea selection is so fun and extensive! My Vegan daughter was excited to try this restaurant. The joy on her face alone was worth any amount, but frankly, I was disappointed. I have no complaints about the food or service, but it was outrageously expensive for what you got. She had the included non alcoholic pairing and I paid a supplement for the wine pairing. My first two wines were nice, but my last two were sakes! Not what I was expecting, nor did I enjoy them. Our meal started off with a bowl of 3 seeds, over which they poured a partial bowl of clear broth. Little did I realize this was foreshadowing. Next course was a piece of baked cabbage about the size of my fist. Our entree was nice, but again, it was 3 decorated gyoza floating in clear broth! The dessert was fun and fabulous, but there wasn't much on the plate. It also signaled to me, that it was over, after two small bowls of broth, three dumplings and some cabbage leaves! Beautiful new vegan fine dining spot in an elegant setting. The menu changes seasonally and they do not share it in advance to enhance the mystery and theatre of the evening, so I won't spoil it by giving too much away. There were 8 courses, including soup, salad, cheese course, palate cleanser and dessert. You pay ahead at the time of booking your reservation. Many of the dishes are verbal or visual puns, (like vegan "bone marrow" in a parsnip). There is a lot creativity in the non-alcoholic cocktail menu which we appreciated as my spouse is sober and usually gets a glorified juice or lemonade. Excellent service, very attentive. It is expensive, but you can see where every dollar went in design, decor, ingredients and skilled labor. It's tranquil in a way few restaurants are. The music is actual background music that doesn't make having a conversation impossible. It's like being in a swanky lounge, listening to Frank Sinatra in the next room. This is the first restaurant Ive been to in years that's got the noise level right for a comfortable conversation.
