We changed out our own filter two days ago, leaving the old, very dirty one out for the technician who was coming today. We got home from errands and found our invoice, that included a $45 filter. We looked at the filter and it was the EXACT SAME ONE we just installed. When we saw how dirty the old one was, we put in a new, different brand, and marked it because we suspected they were not changing the filter. I called their office, the woman called the technician, and he told her that he had changed it. I explained to her that it was impossible and all she said was "well, we're taking it off the bill". Now I'm wondering how many filters we have paid for that were never changed over the past few years. Apparently they have no integrity. read more

Just had a water softener system installed yesterday. Great service. They came out for a quote and thoroughly explained their equipment. Best part was it wasn't a long, drawn out, high pressure sales pitch! They came on the day we agreed to for installation. It was done efficiently and clean up was great! I think my basement is cleaner now than before! LoL. I would highly recommend Maher Water to anyone. read more

Definitely a question about their integrity. Water softener installed in 2016. Contract specifically stated to bypass the outside faucet. They DID NOT do that and two years later, I have discovered that I have been using an inordinate amount of salt because of an outside faucet leak, and, unknowingly using salt for watering flowers, lawn, trees, etc. Showed them the contract that said to bypass the outside faucet - they will bypass the faucet AT MY EXPENSE, and will not credit me for excessive salt usage. Obviously, they are not trustworthy and are not accountable for the contractual agreement. No gray area here - BEYOND DISAPPOINTED. read more

Can you give less than one star? Very disappointed with the Maher customer service and product, When our water softener started leaking we called for service. They sold us two filters and the bill was $71.74. Two weeks later it was leaking again.....we were told we needed a new system. We decided to look at a different company because we did not like Maher's customer service. We received a bill in the mail for $94.95 for the service call (for something they "fixed" two weeks earlier). When we tried to return the overpriced filters we were told they were "opened" and could not be returned (they were packaged in the same plastic we received them in). So we spent $166.69 for a system we could not use... Good-Bye Maher! Hello Culligan Man! read more

Have just seen the negative reviews. More of Mahers many satisfied customers need to speak up. We have been doing business with Maher since 1991 and we have absolutely no complaints. Have never considered switching. read more

Absolute rip off I saw their commercials on TV advertising that they don't rip people off and that they do a really good job that couldn't have been farther from the truth. They ripped me off so hard and did absolutely nothing except service my booster and charge me $185 for it. Also did a water test that I didn't even agree too didn't even know they did. They didn't change any of my filters or help me fix the problem with my water filter for my drinking water upstairs didn't even know how to open the damn thing I am so pissed I will be demanding a refund. You'd think that they would've been a lot done for $185 but yet again he told me that there was a pin broken on my booster and that would've been an extra 150+ the 185 I just payed unbelievable. Pretty much $200 down the toilet. With no filters changed, the pin is still broken, and still have bad water pressure wtf Maher water company's new slogan should be there's a sucker born every day. read more

Avoid these folks. They are very unreliable. I rented a seasonal water softener, to be installed in the spring and removed in the fall. They never show up when they say they will, then charge you for the "special trip." Parts break on THEIR equipment that you're renting, and they charge you to replace them. The women answering the phones are usually unpleasant and very short. Dealing with them was never, ever pleasant. read more

Sold my cabins in the Northwoods and the only good thing is I do not have to deal with Maher Water Corporation anymore. They have too many restrictions and terrible customer service. read more
