From the outside looking in one might think that Magnolia Square is the best "luxury" apartment complex in Naples. While they do have the potential to be just that, Magnolia Square falls flat in just about every aspect.
The hallways are carpet which are perpetually dirty. They finally cleaned the carpet in building 1 but decided to not finish the job in our building, building 2. The carpet is stained and ripped in multiple sections across the hallways. When we first moved in a dog had pooped on the carpeted hallway right outside our door and it had been left there for longer than 24 hours. They never do any deep cleaning besides basic every maintenance. The bricks around the community and especially by the lake were so covered in algae at one point that I slipped and fell multiple times on them. They never cleaned them or took any care of the maintenance around the buildings even after I made them aware of this hazard.
The key pads would often be broken or malfunctioning resulting in residents having to wait outside for long periods until someone happened to leave and could let them in.
The most disturbing of all the amenities was the dog park. The dog park was never professionally cleaned or even sprayed down AT least at any point in my 15 months of living there. There was constantly dog poop all over to the point where other residents took it upon themselves to pick it up just so they didn't step in it. This was brought up to the office on so many occasions but yet they only responded with excuses such as "they can't watch the cameras at all times." They did send emails but they never actively enforced anything or came check on the status of it. The light posts were also broken for 12 of the 15 months I lived there. Instead of fixing them they just put cones on top of the wires and called it a day.
Our unit itself was very nice and I was pleased with the interior. However, we had many issues with our AC. The humidity was always high, around 60-65, they told me "this was normal and average" but I have never had that high of humidity in any place I have ever lived. Our AC stopped working on 3 different occasions due to drain line being clogged. The coils behind the filter were also dirty and smelled of mildew. We also had a pipe sticking out of the wall near our AC unit and anytime it rained it sprayed out mildew smelling air to the point where I had to stuff it with a paper towel to make it stop. It also sounded like a faucet was turned on anytime it rained in the AC closet. I mentioned this to office on occasion and made work orders, but was told that this was due to the fact that I was on a fourth floor unit again I've lived in multiple apartments in my life and I've never had anything like this.
Now I could go on and on about the many issues and instances that we dealt with while living in this community, trust me there are more. But the worst of them all was the final month of living here and dealing with the absolutely incompetent office staff, besides Zoey who is the only useful person there. The staff member named William is absolutely the worst. The fact that he still has a job there after what he has done is beyond me.
The day that it came for us to turn in our keys, my husband and I went to receive some last items from our storage unit that we also rented here. We arrived at the unit to find our stuff had been removed, and someone else had moved in. My husband assumed that our unit has been broken into so we called the police and filed a police report. I also contacted the office to leave them a voicemail as it was closed until 1 PM that day. When they finally got back to me, they informed me that William had moved my stuff and allowed another resident to move their things in while I still in possession of the unit until the end of that day. Their excuse was "their system showed it was available." This is an absolute lie. They very well knew that I was still in possession of the unit because we had made plans for me to turn in the keys later that day. They knew we had moved our main apartment a few days prior and took this opportunity to violate our lease. This is an extreme breach on their behalf. Not only did they trespass into my unit, which resulted in several expensive belongings to be stolen, moved my items without my knowledge or permission, but also unlawfully rented my unit to someone else. They should be ashamed of themselves and everyone who lives in this community or is planning to, should be made aware that something like this could happen to them as well.
It is a shame that I have to resort to writing such a review which is not something I have ever done for any place I have lived, but the way that we were treated and what we had dealt with in the past 15 months needs to be made public. This community should be ashamed of themselves. They are an embarrassment to Naples and anyone who wants to rent here should read my review and take it as a warning: renter beware. read more
