I moved out in June after living there for three years. The recent reviews (Charmaine, Jaycee) are accurate: noisy, thin walls, inconsiderate neighbors, smoking, barking dogs, loud music, and scam fees. I called about our deposit refund and was told we'd receive a damage invoice despite repairing all holes and paying for their in-house cleaning service. They claimed our apartment needed an "air cleansing service" due to a "sour" smell, which is absurd as we don't smoke and always kept it clean. The supposed refrigerator door damage and other "damages" were non-existent when we left. Expecting a small refund after the $170 cleaning fee, I now anticipate a large invoice for "damages," which I'll contest in court. We also paid a $400 non-refundable pet deposit, supposedly for pet-related issues, but it seems to be another scam fee. Beware of this scam when signing a lease; you likely won't get any deposit refund and may be charged additional fees.
Our rent started at $1500 for a small one-bedroom, with zero closet, cabinet, or living space. Over three years, rent increased to over $2000. We stayed due to a rate lock amid dropping resident rates and community issues. Now, they offer two months free as occupancy crashes, for good reason. The community quickly felt like a trashy party venue: glass containers, loud music, inappropriate behavior, and vaping at the pool, which was never heated and often closed for feces cleaning. The smoke-free policy is ignored; cigarette, marijuana, and vaping smells fill the halls and units. Cigarette butts litter the area, and management did nothing about it despite complaints.
Dog waste is another issue. Despite waste bins and bags, many residents leave waste unattended. Our patio was unusable due to the downstairs neighbor's dog waste. The "poo prints" program for identifying dog owners is not enforced. The dog run is a muddy, waste-covered mess, and there have been multiple dog attacks. My dog and wife were both bitten, leaving scars.
The gym is chaotic, with weights left unorganized and kids from other neighborhoods sneaking in. We eventually stopped using the amenities due to these issues. Thin walls mean constant noise from traffic, barking dogs, loud music, and inconsiderate neighbors. Despite numerous complaints to management, nothing changed. Units are listed on Airbnb, leading to strangers trying to access our unit. We witnessed a prostitution ring bust and frequent CSI vans due to overdoses and suicides, which management denies.
The roundabout entrance is hazardous, with people going the wrong way. The resident portal to address issues is ineffective as posts are blocked. Elevator carts are often missing, possibly kept in units. The community feels unsafe, with some units over-occupied and a transient population. Many residents seem to exploit eviction processes, contributing to an unsafe environment.
Work trailers, boats, and RVs clutter the community, despite lease restrictions. The parking situation is worsened by company vehicles, and garages are misused for storage and workshops. Noise and disruption are constant. Maintenance is professional but not personable, and management, while kind, fails to enforce rules. Grounds are somewhat maintained, but inconsiderate residents trash the area.
Overall, Lago's "luxury" label is misleading. Poor construction, high noise levels, and numerous community issues detract from the location's appeal. Naples has changed, prompting our move to another state where we are happier. However, being charged for false damages is infuriating. This review aims to warn potential renters and push for necessary changes in Lago's management practices, after paying nearly $80,000 in rent without issues.
