Maggie is the BEST. I can't recommend her enough! My labor was over 26 hours and she was in constant communication with my sister in getting my placenta over to her. Even though I delivered at 2-am I wasn't worried that everything was being taken care of. When I got home from the hospital she was available at a moments notice for any questions I had. She is kind, knowledgeable, and Grounding. You are in excellent hands with Maggie! read more

Maggie was such a supportive and nurturing doula to me with my first baby. 3 years ago as a fellow doula, I resonated with Maggie's spirit and motherly aura. My labor was very long and presented many challenges that caused for change of plans and Maggie road the waves with us like a champion doula. She went above and beyond her role as a doula by also photographing our labor journey as well as taking our maternity photos which still hang in our daughters room. Maggie is a compassionate soul who knows the right things to say or not to say in those high pressure moments and supported us from home to hospital to operating table to home again. We will forever hold a special place in our hearts for this amazing woman and rockstar doula! read more

Maggie is ABOVE and BEYOND! My friend recommended her for placenta encapsulation so I called her to get more information. I was a first time mom calling right after first trimester, so at that point I had very little knowledge about what's coming. She went above and beyond giving me SOOO much information, about doulas, hospitals, different websites, lactation consultants, anything I asked that was motherhood related. She spent well over an hour talking to me and seemed very genuine. Talk about value! I ended up meeting her in person in hospital when she delivered pills, and she was just AS NICE and friendly. And gave me a little gift (artwork) in addition to pills I purchased. I used placenta pills as instructed and they helped me a lot! If you are hesitant, they look just like regular vitamin capsules. There is nothing different about the way they look, if that's something that you are concerned about. They also didn't have any particular taste to them, I would even say they had a pleasant taste and texture, and very easy to digest. I just always felt better after I took them and based on that, I will use them again next time I (hopefully) get pregnant. Did I mention Maggie is extremely knowledgable?? I highly highly recommend her and will use her again no doubt about it. read more

Maggie was referred to us to photograph the birth of our firstborn child by my doula and it was one of the BEST decisions we made. Figuring out the details of this momentous event was easy as Maggie was communicative, accessible, professional accommodating and reliable, all very necessary qualities regarding such a task given the unpredictable nature of the business. Maggie suggested we meet at our birth center during one of the prenatal visits which was a great idea. It was wonderful to meet her before the big day. My husband and I knew right away that we had chosen the right person to document the birth of our baby. We could sense immediately that Maggie has a tranquil, beautiful spirit that would add positive energy to the birthing room on the baby's birthday. I also felt comfortable with her photographing me at the most intimate angles since she is a doula herself and had just a wonderful energy about her. Very important. On the big day Maggie was an incredible photographer ninja of sorts. She was able to masterfully capture such intense emotion and countless special moments that has blown us and our families away and she did so with such finesse, grace and to be frank not get in the way in the birthing room. We are so grateful the the special gift she has given our family. Her documentary-like style is just what we wanted (as discussed), which was just perfect. We are moved every time we look at the breathtaking photos she so skillfully captured. I cannot look at them without crying (happy tears of course!). Time stood still because of her. So special, magical, incredible and amazing to see what I/my husband could not in the heat of the moment :-) You would be hard pressed to find another photographer who genuinely cares as much as Maggie does and it is evident in her photography. Her prices are very fair as well. Hiring Maggie for your birth photography is a no-brainer. She will without a doubt be our birth photographer for future babies. THANK YOU MAGGIE!!! xoxo read more

I just had the MOST enlightening conversation with Maggie. I cannot speak highly enough of her understanding of the childbirth process in Los Angeles today. She educated me on diversity and income issues for new mothers. She is an incredible resource. I would definitely make her my FIRST call if I was an expecting mother. She will help lead you to the right resources and choices for you and your baby. You can't go wrong with Maggie! She is a ROCK STAR!!! read more

Maggie is professional, reliable and friendly. I am certain her pills offered hormonal balance, and that, they helped recover.

Thank you Maggie for the great service for my placenta encapsulation...quick and reliable....

I had the pleasure of working with Maggie for the second time last October when I gave birth to my second child. Maggie was there for us every step of the way. We spoke on the phone and texted before, throughout and after my delivery. She is very patient, explains placenta encapsulation options, guided me through a long delivery and answered my postpartum questions. She is kind, thorough and reliable. She makes everything easy and understandable. She also included an artistic photograph of my placenta and a special umbilical cord design. We would definitely work with Maggie again and recommend her services. read more

Highly recommend! Maggie is the sweetest. It was a seamless process, and the pills definitely helped my mood PP!

My wife and I had a home birth in January of 2016 and we chose Maggie Ehrig as our Doula. After interviewing four Doulas, we went with Maggie because in addition to being creative, intelligent and thoughtful, we loved her energy and commitment to our birthing process. Maggie was very generous with her time before the birth, meeting us in our home on several occasions and being available for countless calls and texts with my wife. The more we got to know Maggie, the more confident we became in our decision to work with her. Like many births, everything didn't go exactly as planned. Maggie was comforting, gentle, loving, and supportive. When challenges came up, she was the strongest one in the room. She helped us find strength when we needed it and was compassionate when we needed it. Not to mention, she took AMAZING photos that transformed the way we processed and viewed the birthing experience. On our son's birthday, Maggie became family to us. We are so happy we had Maggie as our Doula and would highly recommend using her! read more

Maggie is amazing I can't say enough about the process and the benefits of doing this for recovery I did not do it with my first and did with my second so I have something to compare and it is truly worth every penny, it's actually a bargain for the benefits you and the baby reap from the extra energy and nutrition your are putting back in your body for both of you . Really helps balance mood and any symptoms of feeling run down after, wished the pills lasted longer but I can't say enough about Maggie she makes everything very easy and picks up super fast from hospital and has it ready to bring over very quickly once home It is a def must if your having a baby read more

Maggie is an experienced, kind-hearted total professional who made the placenta encapsulation process joyful and easy for the whole family. Her deep knowledge of & devotion to birthing is so evident, and her beautiful spirit enriched our experience. We especially appreciated her patience and investment in our three year-old daughter who had lots of questions. We remain grateful for Maggie who lived up to her name, simply magnificent! read more

Hiring Maggie was one of the best first decisions we made for our family. Not only does she present things in a real manner, she also presents things in a loving and gentle way that makes you and your partner feel taken care of. When I say real, I mean that I did not feel like a client or patient, I felt like I had a friend who was sharing with me all the info she had. Throughout the pregnancy she would email me links and video for question I had, which were very helpful. If she didn't know the answer, she would go home and research the topic and give me the pros and cons via articles she found. This was so helpful for me because I worked full time until the day before I gave birth to my son. I didn't have time to research. Not only was she helpful in the delivery room, but she took some BEAUTIFUL pictures. I have every intention on using her for our next child. She was amazing. She captured the emotions of the whole experience. I will cherish her work for the rest of my life. Maggie, Thank you. And to everyone else, HIRE THIS DOULA! read more

Magnificent Birth - Doulas Near Me

I have a thousand positive, superlative things that I could say about Maggie and how her presence was so... magical and transformative at my son's birth. I cannot imagine anyone else besides her being there and I definitely cannot imagine my wife and I having gone through our experience without her. Of the many serendipitous things that makes our birth story sound like a miracle, Maggie arriving just when we really needed her is the best. We had a five day labor, induced, and despite the duration and the pain and so many other things seeming to make it impossible, my wife was able to give birth naturally. The long duration of the labor pushed my wife and myself very far past our limits of endurance. Through it all, Maggie stood by the bed, supported my wife in the most natural, thoughtful, soulful and integrated way. She is a truly beautiful person, inside and out, quiet by nature, but ready to step in and advocate for the mother... to conspire to get things that are needed even if they are against the rules (like a miraculous hot shower.) I could go on. Maggie made every difference in our difficult time and stayed by our side with grace and a generous and deep spirit. And at the end of it all she sent us the most gorgeous photographs. I don't believe I've ever written a review here before but I simply had to recommend her work. read more

A midwife recommended us Maggie for placenta encapsulation and we are really happy that she did! She explained to us the process and benefits thoroughly, and I immediately felt that she really cared about our wellbeing. She was supportive and flexible throughout the process, which was really helpful, given the circumstances. She definitely went beyond her professional obligation in her relationship with us and we couldn't be happier. My postpartum has been really good. I like to think that the pills were to blame for that! read more

My husband and I moved from Brooklyn to West LA in the middle of my pregnancy with our first child. Neither of us have family in town and having never been through birth, I knew that we'd need help. We found Maggie through our birthing class and it was a great fit. We met with Maggie 3 times before the actual birth and got to know each other. She prepared me as well as anyone can prepare someone for birth. One of Maggie's qualities is her understanding that sometimes an intervention is a good choice, even if it's not the way the birth was planned. She's understanding, supportive, flexible, informed, comforting, and a calm presence. My daughter's birth was far from what we had planned and hoped for. I was in labor for 40 hours and pushed for 4. Maggie was by my side for most of that time, sacrificing her own sleep on that first night to make sure that I was taken care of. We had planned on as natural a birth as possible, but I ended up being augmented by Pitocin w/the help of an epidural. Maggie help us ask the midwives the right questions and when, at hour 22, we decided to go forward with the Pitocin, Maggie was incredibly supportive and helped reinforce that we were making the right decision for us and our family. Maggie's also a fantastic photographer. She took amazing pictures of my husband and I before and during my labor and the birth. I'll cherish those pictures my entire life. They're amazing. We've kept in touch with Maggie and if we ever decide to expand our family with another child, we'll definitely hire her again. read more

Maggie did my placenta encapsulation just a few weeks ago! She came highly recommended by the doula who did my last encapsulation and I loved her energy. She communicated with my husband and I throughout the process and returned with my pills and tincture the next day! Everything was packaged so beautifully. The whole process was seamless. Highly recommend! read more

Maggie was awesome! I loved my placenta pills, they really do help. She was professional, reliable and even had my pills picked up and delivered with a broken foot! That's how dedicated and passionate she is about supporting mammas. Also, a big perk, and part of why I chose her services, is her beautiful artwork. I have my placenta pic hanging in the nursery! Thank you Maggie:) read more

Maggie did my placenta encapsulation and it was such a great experience. She was so great to talk to before a gave birth. She gave me a lot of good information. The best part was when she came by the house 2 days postpartum to drop of my pills and she was so caring and reassuring. Just what this momma needed! Overall great experience. I'm recommending all the mommas I know to go to her:) I'll for sure use her again:) thank you! read more

I came across Maggie's services when my doula gave me info about placenta encapsulation. My husband and I were so happy with Maggie. She was at the hospital within thirty minutes of my delivery to take my placenta. She was so easy to reach over text and email before, during, and after birth. Very considerate and helpful. She delivered my placenta pills, tincture, and even a beautiful piece of placenta art before I even left the hospital! I am 14 weeks postpartum now and she still answers my email questions! We were so lucky to have found Maggie and will be using her again for our next baby! read more

When I first found out I was pregnant, people impressed upon me how important having a good doula was. Looking back on my birth, we are so lucky we found one as great as Maggie. Her wisdom leading up to the birth prepared us well for what was a whole new world, and her support during labor itself was indescribable. Maggie is a gem. An absolute gem. read more

Maggie was exactly what my husband, baby and I needed to have an amazing birthing experience. I'm a pretty pragmatic person and spoke with a couple of doulas before selecting Maggie to support us. I appreciate the calm energy she brings with her and how she listened closely to our needs. She never pushed us to do anything and always just armed us with information to ask questions and make decisions that were right for us. When my water broke, she was very responsive and supportive via phone and text, until we told her it was time for her to join us at our home. I managed to labor at home until I was 9 3/4 cm dilated and it was all because Maggie was there to help give me the space to move through the contractions and help my husband be the best support partner he could be. It was always about setting my husband and I up for success and Maggie knew when to step in and out of situations. I can't thank her enough!!! read more

As a second-time mom heading to a hospital for the first time, Maggie was the perfect doula for us: a blend of touchy-feely emotional guide, and down-to-earth, brass-tacks birth plan strategist. With Maggie, I addressed all my fears well in advance, and also came up with a plan to face any possible development or outcome with confidence. For all this prep my husband and I did with Maggie, towards what I expected would be long and potentially risky first and second stages of labor, we were rewarded with a baby who flew out like a rocket. The choices Maggie helped us make 100% contributed to our relatively easy, intervention-free hospital birth. This was as prepared as I could get, and compared favorably in all the desirable ways to birthing at a birth center. Oh, and the placenta pills are awesome, too! read more

I had a very tough labor and delivery - 6 hours of pushing, 41 hours total. Maggie was by our side the entire time. When I was laboring at home, she was available around the clock by phone and even came over one evening with dinner for my husband and I. She also labored with me in different positions before it was time to leave for the hospital. Once at the hospital, she never left our side, offering my husband and I emotional, mental and physical support for another 12+ hours. I had planned to have an unmedicated birth and because of Maggie's tireless encouragement and advice was successful in achieving 38 hours of unmedicated labor. When it came time to make that critical decision about how to proceed with medication, Maggie was thoughtful and sensitive in her approach. I never felt disappointed in myself or my birth experience, quite the opposite, I felt empowered thanks to her imparting knowledge and relentless support. Thanks to Maggie, what could have been a traumatic and negative birth experience was nothing by positive. I look back on it fondly and with immense gratitude. If you're looking for a doula who is calm, engaged, experienced and a great photographer to boot - hire Maggie! read more

I was referred to Magnificent BIrth's placenta services by my doula, and i am so happy that I found Maggie! Such a warm and kind person and so helpful in explaining the details of encapsulation so that i could make educated decisions on the product that Maggie would create for me. I feel that the pills evened out the postpartum mood swings, and for that i am eternally grateful. The artwork is incredible and i am so happy that i have it to cherish. i just wish i would have know about Maggie (and placenta encapsulation) with my first child. i think it would have made a world of difference in postpartum emotional recovery the way it has with my second child. It is hard for me to find the perfect words for the amazing MAGGIE ! She was referred to me by several women in a Babywearing Forum so i gave it a try and contacted her in the middle of my pregnancy. We have talked on the phone a lot and she helped me on finding a good community of birthworkers cause i had no idea where to start. I had found a doula but i wanted her to be my photographer for sure just by talking to her on the phone. The first time i met Maggie i felt her warm aura and i knew i needed her there for my birth. Maggie came to the Birthing Center and i didnt even notice her there. She hides behind her super quiet camera shutter and takes the most amazing shots. We talked about what kinda shots i would like to get captured and i trusted her blind and she got it all right. I ended up having an emergency transfer after over a day of labor. Maggie and everybody else was tired but they all came along anyways. She was and is amazing to work with. Having her on my side she also cheered me up and helped my husband through it as well. We all were beat but her spirit and beautiful soul was one thing that kept me going. You will not regret hiring her. All of the birth professionals i had became all family to me. I never wanted to let them go. The pictures came all edited on a stick and she offered an extra family session. I love my Maggie! I cant wait to get pregnant again to rock my VBAC with her!! Love this woman!!!! Edit: i was very depressed after my birth and afraid to look at the pictures because i know they would make me cry. I felt like my body failed me. She was ok with that and gave me uplifting healing words and advise. I looked at the pictures eventually and i cried anyways. But because of her words i felt more like a warrior. Thank you Maggie!! read more

Finding the right Doula is such a personal journey. It took us a long while to find ours. Many were lovely and sweet, but there was a an immediate connection and great rapport with Maggie over the phone and then once we met in person. They may have all been capable, and professional, but I needed someone I really vibed with. She even smelled good to me. (this is important when you feel like you are being ripped apart). In fact, even two months after my child is born, I still get the itch to call her up and have her over. On top of the connection we had, I wanted a Doula who could incapsulate my placenta. I didn't want to have to call yet another person to come pick it up. That surely was not going to be something I wanted to have to think about. Maggie was there for me and had the stamina for my grueling 30 hour labor marathon. Truly, I would recommend her, (and do), to anyone...however I think it is such a personal choice. The icing on the cake was that Maggie photographed my baby coming out! i will forever cherish those photos and I am eternally grateful to her support! Call Maggie! read more

I didn't know what to expect when I hired a doula. I knew that I needed advice and guidance during my pregnancy and I knew that I would need support during labor. Maggie exceeded my expectations in every way. She spoke to me in a clear, comprehensible, and logical language. She didn't try to convince me that I should labor a certain way--with or without medicine. Over the course of our meetings she demystified both pregnancy and labor. She was always available to answer all of my silly and uninformed questions. Maggie was a remarkable source of information on everything from exercise to diet to relaxation. I loved hearing from her during my third trimester--knowing someone was out there thinking of me and of what my body was going through was an important reassurance. When it came to making my birth plan and discussing how I wished to labor, Maggie listened to me closely and helped me decode my own desires and fears. I have to say, my birth experience was terrific. During my pregnancy I read a lot of stories about women enjoying their labor and birth and frankly I didn't believe them. But when it came time for me to give birth, I was surprised by how wonderful and magical the experience was. And so much of that was due to Maggie's help and presence! I feel so blessed to have found her. It's clear she works as a doula because she loves it. I have to add something here--in addition to being a doula (and a terrific photographer) Maggie is also really cool. read more
