Magna Shutters was the 4th Shutter company we interviewed and received a quote from. We received high praise from a prior customer of theirs and got to see their work and final product in another highly satisfied customer's home. Sandra came to our home and did our initial measurements and educated us on the variety of shutter options available to us. She listened to our concerns, wants and needs. Sandra provided great advice and suggestions to help us with our decision making. Sandra's knowledge and suggestions helped immensely and ultimately helped us in making our decision to choose Magna Shutters. Miguel, the owner/installer of the company came to do our final measurements. Miguel was also really great at providing his suggestions on what would work best for specific windows where we did not want the typical standard shutter. One thing that I can really appreciate with Miguel, is our kitchen window we were told by other shutter companies what we wanted could not be done, or they would come up with a solution that didn't work for what we wanted. Miguel took one look at the window heard what we wanted to do and said 'yes, we can do that' and he explained how. Problem solving skills are amazing. When we ordered our shutters Sandra would send me updates on shipping status which was really great with the lead time we had. I really appreciated Sandra's follow up with us. Sandra also provided me with a color swatch because I wanted to paint my window seals the same color as the shutters. Installation day - Magna shutters came to our home on time, they give you a window of arrival. Miguel came with one other helper. The built the shutters from the boxes - so brand spanking new shutters. Once they were installed they were strategic about what frames went where and did not take up our entire living space with shutters to be installed, which I can appreciate. In about 8 hours they installed 25 windows, including a sliding glass door. Miguel even had to do some carpentry work on our Bathroom Tub window shutter onsite so the shutter can fit around our marble. Excellent work. Every shutter was installed perfectly, caulked to they look seamless with the walls. Excellent installation. Once installation was complete, Miguel took the time to show us how to use the shutters, how to open them a specific way, where to touch and not touch them. This was very much appreciated since we never had shutters and didn't realize there is a specific way to handle them. I would like to thank Magna Shutters for the superb customer service, great installation, the education provided and hand holding us through the process and the sweetness they showed my toddler as she was running around and making a lot of noise. On top of that I am thankful they were able to provide solutions to our non-standard requests (bi-fold windows and sliders, and our master bathroom tub window). We went with Magna Shutters to install plantation shutters in the whole house after reading great reviews. Just like what other have said, Sandra was very patient and explained all the different options at the initial estimation; the workmanship of Miguel and his son was also superb. First I must note, Sandra and Miguel are VERY customer service oriented. We were very confused about all the analysis about different types of shutters by the sales rep who come for doing initial consultation, and we were told that we need to do some preparation of our windows by ourselves before installation. How do I click a 6th star? First, it's funny. I called two other yelp top-rated shutter company first, to come out and give us an estimate. They both said they were booked solid for the next 4 to 6 weeks, did I want to wait? After getting over the shock, I said yes to get in line with one of the two, and then proceeded to look for another company. I found Magna here, and despite the "imperfect" star score, I liked what people had to say, and felt I could discount the negative reviews. I called, and Sandra said they could come out "the next day" to take measurements and go over options. Next day...what a concept! Yes, please. They came out, and we immediately liked them. Very down to earth, very knowledgeable. They also gave us paper shutters for the time we had to wait for the shutters to be made, which saved our lives when temps went over 100 here. With some discussion and review of the options we were able to settle pretty quickly on what we wanted (Norman InvisibleTilt shutters...they are awesome). We were in the midst of remodeling the kitchen, so there was some risk of what would happen when we put the quartzite wall around the window. But Miguel...is a superstar. He can...and needed to!...do some custom carpentry to make it look perfect, as the quartzite wall followed the imperfections of our old kitchen window drywall. (btw, anyone even thinking about doing this with Home Depot or Lowe's.....a word of advice: don't!). We also put shutter doors on the sliding glass door in the kitchen, and a window in the laundry room. Miguel custom-built a crown molding box for the top of the shutter doors, did the trim around the kitchen window, and the shutters in the laundry room, where the space was really tight. So now you're thinking, "omg, all this custom work...it must've cost a fortune!!". Nope. He provided this service within the original price quote, which I can confidently say, was already very, very good for the high end shutters we went with. In summary, we could not be happier with any aspect of our experience with Magna, and are thrilled with the end product in our home.
