People who work are not professional at all, they place appointments and then charge you without your consent. People in the office believe they are superior to patients, it is an old place, in its furniture and in its way of thinking. They only care about getting money. Questionable billing practices and billing after the fact of maxing out both my dental policies. They also left me with horrible pain after a root canal they had to go in there and fix after making a mistake. Apparently I wasn't the only one having the same issue because while I was there getting a repair, I overheard two patients with the same exact issue. Never going there again! read more

while my experience was good with all operational services, they have made many issues with billing. while they also fix those issues, they shouldn't even happen to begin with, but it kept continuing to happen. I understand it may be because they want to maximize their profits, but they have questionable practices when it comes to that. double charged me(through insurance and out of pocket) for cleaning, had me take X-rays (claiming it was covered) even though I had them done a month prior, then tried to charge me. I just don't feel like dealing with that while there are so many places to go. As I said, cleaning, fillings they did, they did a good job, but I've just been considering my options and cancelled my cleaning because I don't trust their billing practices(even if they fix it, after being caught or called out). read more

Dr. Brad is very kind & I'm happy with my Root Canal Re-Treat. The ladies who answer the phone, check me in, billing & assist Dr. Brad are very professional & i felt safe w/ their care. I have a progressive brain disease, so i rely on others' for everything when my partner is not there. The Cons are personal preference; the building is too hot, need to use the fans! And the plug-in air fresheners are Hormone Disruptors/ toxic, too perfumey overpowering for a health building. That sounds petty but when you have to lay in a dental chair for 4 hours both can render you extremely uncomfortable..when all you want is to be comfortable w/ your mouth open wide. Their billing practice is really questionable. I was quoted an out of pocket price before and was supposed to pay before the extractions, WHICH I DID IN FULL, according to their calculations. I paid, had teeth removed and thought it was all over. Huh right! I got a bill for $300 more. I fought with them and my Ins. Called and behold..... oh they made a mistake, but only shaved off $150. Knowing to fight it would take time and having excellent credit we paid it. BE CAREFUL IF YOU STAY OR USE THEM. PUT IT IN WRITING BEFORE YOU START ANY SERVICE AS TO THEIR CHARGES. P.S. I had to pay before service and had to have my wife go to the bank while I sat in the chair. Billing is rude and acts like collection agency. Thank goodness for Insurance Company! Also the wanted over $3,000 for my dentures and Affordable Dentures was only $760 for full set. read more

I've driven by Magna Dental for years and always liked the looks of the building, very pretty and well kept. When I needed a new dentist, I called them first. They scheduled us together, nice touch, for routine cleanings. It had been a while, but the assistants did not chide us on our bad hygiene. The cleaning was awesome and my teeth felt great. When we needed crowns down. Dr. Dave was our guy. He does great work, crowns are built on site so it's one trip. Numbed me up nice and replacement went well. We recommend Magna Dental as a dentist of choice. read more

I went to Magna Dental several years ago for an emergency. They got me in within an hour and had me taken care of. I have had to have a lot of dental work done and Dr. Dave is always amazing!! This place is amazing! I am terrified of the dentist and hadnt gone to one in just under 10 years. Dr. Brad Johnson made me feel very comfortable and went above and beyond to make sure that I was fully accommodated with my treatment. I had 3 root canals done in one morning and didn't know what to expect or what the recovery would be like. The next day I had a little discomfort but nothing like I thought it would be. He definitely won me over and this will be the only place I go to get any kind of dental work in the future. read more

We have had one of the most interesting times with these people. First of all if you go there don't just ask them if they accept your insurance,. (that was our 1st mistake) because sure they do, the question should have been directed to our insurance company instead. We had a total of 3 appointments with them costing us over $1,600 to get a couple of teeth taken care of. They took care of the 2 teeth on the second visit and we paid them the $1,600 and set up another appointment for a cleaning which according to them the insurance covered twice a year. We went to this appointment and never received a cleaning but was told I had an infection and that I had multiple cavities. First thing that come to mind is why was I not told this at the very first appointment??? So now they want me to pay an additional $1,900 to get this done and my insurance does not cover any of it. So what I am trying to say is beware make sure you ask them all of the questions, because they will accept any insurance BUT will your insurance accepts them. P.S. we will not be going back there again........ read more

My wife had her cleaning done at Magna Dental: 2776 JFK Blvd, Jersey City and then next day, she noticed a bump in her gum, she went back and the hygienist put her on antibiotics, we weren't told that was an infection until another dentist explained the situation to us and they also promised to refund the visit cost which was never done. read more

have 2 girls ages 16 and 12 my 12 yr old cried as she had her molars removed I did my best to calm her down and the Dr. Johnson told my daughter to quit acting like a baby then he yelled at me saying why did you not being her back 1 yr ago my response was the attitudes you give are why we don't return this visit was due to his work not being done correctly in the first place I tried to find another dentist but non that would finish his job that's why I had to go back but in my regret. For my 16 yr old she walked out with a swollen face neck and throat due to him injecting her with to much novacane and the whole time I'm calming my children I see the nurses staring and talking crap on my children and when I say something they all leave the area laughing. So in my case I will never let my children see him again or the nasty nurses that are young and immature. For all the moms out there beware of the trauma they put on a child it's not worth it. Then on June 21 I get a review call from a lady there arguing with me saying she wasn't there to confirm him calling your daughter a baby well let me tell you she's 12 and can tell you he did how ignorant are they after all this to call and harass me about calling my daughter a liar and me posting a review. read more

I had no idea what to expect when I made an appointment here. It's very nice inside. The staff is nice. You have your own personal dental chair with your own X-ray machine. Very nice place. I'm glad I came here. I will recommend this place to family and friends. read more

WORST Dental Experience EVER! I really hope the people at Magna Dental read this and change their ways. I took my Girlfriend in there for an emergency Extraction, the first Dentist was Dr. Kim. First off the numbing wasnt really taking effect, so she tried to numb it as much as she could, but it didn't really work all that well. She didn't really seem to be at a professional level as the time went on. About an hour passed and she was still digging into the tooth unable to get it out. Then she called in Dr. Brad. He seemed pissed that he had to step in to help with an extraction, and kept rolling his eyes and trying to rush my girlfriend to sit back down when the pain was too much to keep going. At one point she began to hyperventilate and the two doctors and nurse stood there like they had never seen anyone hyperventilate just asking her to lay back down and keep going. I had to yell at them to get a bag because they were just standing there staring at her. The operation went on with my girlfriend writhing in pain and me asking them to stop when the pain obviously became too much to bare and they kept trying to force her down. At one point she turned her face away from Dr. Brad and he hooked her mouth with his finger and tried to pull her back. Which pissed me off too. We finally finished the extraction and left. Its the next day and we discover that they had cut up her cheek during the process and she is miserable. Worst experience ever. I would recommend that NO ONE go to this dentist. On a side note, I have to say that the only decent person in there seemed to be the dental assistant who tried to help keep my girlfriend calm and comfortable and kept telling her that they could stop whenever she needed them too. read more

The staff was very friendly and informative. I learned some new things felt very comfortable there. I love that they are a family run practice, but the news was bad and the cost of their crowns was twice as much as I've ever had to pay before, with insurance, so I wanted a second opinion. When I asked the receptionist to e-mail me my x-rays I was told that their e-mail system was not working, and hadn't been for weeks or months, and IT hadn't been able to fix it, which is very unusual to say the least. She offered to mail them to me but another dentist will probably not be able to see enough from a paper copy. So I asked her to put them on a flash drive for me and was told that the technology is not compatible so they couldn't do it, which I also find very hard to believe. read more

I felt that Magna Dental was ok until my last appointment. For cleanings they use some sonic tool, not sure about effectiveness but it's kinda irritating, but not too bad if you hate traditional cleanings. Dr. Brad did a good job, but I was not a big fan of the finish on the crowns that they make in-house (which is kinda nice), they were too rough and take a long time to get used to and wear smooth. The front receptionist staff are usually pretty rude and seem to see you as a nuisance they have to deal with. But my last appointment I paid up front as per usual, then when it was over and I was leaving, he surprised me with another $190 because of something he decided to do without getting my ok first. I was sitting right there in the chair.....he could have just talked to me, got my approval, and moved on. But I'm not ok with charging me whatever you want after the fact, after I can't do anything about it. That kind of dishonesty is not acceptable. read more
