Last year I had an exceptionally awful experience at another dentist. I already dread going to the…read moredentist as it is, but of course following that I really put it off. Finally, though, with the end of the year approaching, and the possibility of losing my FSA funds looming, I sucked it up and started to research other options. Matching up (hopefully) decent dentists with those who accept your insurance is such a fun way to spend an afternoon...Ha! Focus was my first choice, they were accepting new patients, and while the wait was about a month out, they offered to put me on their cancellation list, and I ended up getting in within less than a week! They are located in a large brick office building off 7th East. The whole back is parking, and customer access is through the doors on the east or west sides of the building (the others are employee only). The interior is nicely decorated, reminding me a bit of the medical offices I patronized out East (side note, when I got my wisdom teeth out, I woke up in a library. A LIBRARY!). Focus is upstairs on the right, and their office space is lovely: All warm colors and welcoming. There are big 'ol cushy couches in the waiting room, plus a saltwater aquarium with two way viewing à la Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet. Every employee is so sweet and charming, and not in a fake way. They genuinely seem to enjoy working here and helping patients. Focus has a lot of small touches that I really appreciate: as soon as I sat down for my cleaning I was offered (quality, all natural) lip balm, the view from some of the rooms looks straight across the city to the mountains, TVs are placed 'just so' in the ceiling for easy, comfortable viewing. They even offer cosmetic services for wrinkles and aging! I saw Dr. Van Alfen, and he was so quick and as painless as is possible with my filling. He is pleasant and kind, and though I still don't look forward to dentist visits, I certainly don't dread them as formerly.

I have been visiting this practice for 20+ years and I have always received exceptional care. If…read morethe rating above was only about patient care, I would rate them a 5. Dr. Van Alfen is knowledgeable, friendly and kind. I always enjoy my interactions with the care staff. I would rate 0 stars for the office experience. If a pleasant office and billing experience is important to you, then this is not the practice for you. This is hard for me write, because I have been a patient for many years, I am exploring changing to a new dental practice to visit based on several recent interactions. I no longer have confidence in their billing department, from several perspectives, such as accuracy and advocacy.

He troubleshooted my tooth pain and performed minimally invasive procedures to preserve my tooth. I was hesitant for a long time to see a dentist for my chronic dental discomfort because I don't have dental insurance, but I was relieved they charged reasonable prices. The clinic is bright, spacious, and clean. The staff is friendly. I wish I lived in the area so I can be a forever patient of Dr. Felt.

One was a tooth that he tried to pull and I felt like he was going to break my jaw. I finally pulled his hands out of my mouth and told him to send me to an oral surgeon. He had a son who died, and I had a brother who died. He told me flat out that my pain could not be as bad as his pain. He has no idea how close I was to my brother. The third incident was. I had to have a partial adjusted. It fit my mouth perfectly before coming into the office. I had to leave the partial overnight. The next day I told him it didn't fit my mouth at all, and he accused me of dropping it, and stepping on it, which I think he did while he was in his care. I do not recommend this Dentist

Once they healed, I was excited to have the crowns placed on each implant. Unfortunately, COVID 19 arrived and I was heartbroken as week after week, my dental appointments were cancelled. I really wanted to get this work done before my scheduled visit to see my children and grandchildren in Utah in July. When it became apparent that Pennsylvania's virus cases were increasing and it might be months before their dental offices would be operating fully, my daughter who lives in Murray, UT suggested I call Dr. Gleave's office and I'm so glad she did! From my very first phone call to their office, I felt like welcomed and a part of their "dental family." Their prices were even lower than I was expecting! and knowing I would only be in Utah for 6 weeks, they were able to get me in right away to make the crown impressions, place the crowns and even gave a me a great price on a cleaning. Dr. Gleave and his staff were all so friendly and they worked hard to make my experience a good one. I highly recommend them and I have such a pretty smile now. I just can't stop smiling. A huge thanks to Dr. Gleave and to all of his staff for making this such a great experience! Sherry S. from Pennsylvania.
