    Final battle with the dragon.

This was a great, magical experience. There is some reading involved, so younger kids have to work together with their parents, but in a fun way. The light is kept dim, which creates a neat ambiance, but it can be hard to read the book in some areas. Bring a cheap flashlight or headlamp to make it easier. The staff is friendly and in character. You can go to them if you need a hint. The only thing keeping it from being five stars is that some physical structures are blocked off pending repairs. This can make it harder to complete some of the later challenges and takes away from the experience.

Okay, so let's preface this review by saying I am no gamer. I am not a follower of magicians or elves or fairies. Just a mom, who went with my 6 year old and her cousins while visiting the water park next door. The staff in the office were friendly, but I find the whole concept and the signage confusing. But, in a nutshell, games are roughly $14 a person and you also have to purchase a wand for anywhere from $15-18. And the "toppers" cost an additional amount. While it is fun to do "quests" and "adventures" (I.e. virtual scavenger hunts that you run around 4 floors collecting ruins by pointing your wand at the item), there are some technical issues. For starters, it wasn't even that crowded and it was still a wait to do certain things. Also, it's so flipping hard to hear some of the machines!! Flat out, ear pressed against the thing to hear what it told you. Also, there's no map, per se. You can see signs on each floor saying Whispering Woods is up, but there's nothing in the little booklet you're using as your "key." Additionally, sometimes the riddles in the booklet refer to them as something else (ex. Wall says Whispering Woods, but booklet says "Whispering maze." Anyway, long story short - hard to hear and confusing. Another criticism, if you will, they don't have employees wandering around the 4 floors. If you need help, you have to book it down to the office and find the 1-2 people there. Total inconvenience and not very helpful at all. Kids liked it, me not so much.

We finally made our way into MagiQuest! Of course, you pay up front to get started- pay for the game itself, wand to play the game and activation of the wand? I believe. Naturally, there is well-placed accouterments that your children will love! Lol. I had a good time playing this game! As did my husband! My kiddo enjoyed it at first, but once he realized that the game was repetitive, he lost interest. In all honesty, this is a repetitive game! But it gives you and your family something to do indoors aside from the water rides. This is especially benefical if you visit Great Wolf Lodge in the winter. Keep in mind, you do not have to stay at Great Wolf to go to MagiQuest!

The guy in the gift shop advised that our 4 year old would be too young to play, so we only bought one wand for the whole family to use.

There's a little bit of everything -- go karts, laser tag, bowling, arcade games, mini golf, climbing areas and more, so everyone in the group can find something they enjoy. The activity bracelet/pass can feel a little pricey, but if you're planning to do several activities it's definitely worth it and makes things easier instead of paying for each thing separately. One thing we really liked was how convenient the location is. It's connected right between the Kalahari resort and the movie theater, so it's super easy to walk over and spend some time there without having to drive anywhere. Overall it's a really fun spot if you're visiting Wisconsin Dells -- especially great for families or anyone looking for something to do besides the waterparks. You don't need to reload cards. Kids can use any machine as quick as they can. Just using a few continues on arcade games alone gets there very quickly. They have a bunch of the good Star Wars arcade games that are slightly older yet still tons of fun. I love the 4 player X-men arcade game room along with all the marvel comics variants as four player games. That is awesome to play through and beat them all with friends. Needs improvement They desperately need better HVAC. Having teenage boys and gamer kids inevitably means fewer showers. It's noticeable as you walk in and hits you like a truck. While we have been here before and it didn't have an odor then, this is a hurdle you need to cross if not remedied immediately. A surprisingly low amount of pinball cabinets and of the ones they have, half of them work. A bunch of the seats have ripped edges, duct tape and broken plastic. Overall It's a B sort of place that older teenagers will not be thrilled with but middle school kids will love it

The tour lasts around 30 minutes and takes you through winding rock formations and narrow alleys. I was amazed at how the horses could walk us through such tight spaces. During the ride, the guide shared interesting facts about the rocks, the history of the place, and even about the blue roan horses. It was nice to learn how well these horses are cared for during the off-season and how they get to stay at the farm after they retire. Our horses were about 10 years old, and they did a great job. This was a very different and unique tour compared to others I've taken. I absolutely loved it! A wonderful way to spend time in the Dells.

I made sure to read a ton of reviews before coming here today. I had major concerns about people…read moresaying there were high charges to use your credit card and that they stop mid-tour to try and sell you trinkets. I was also worried about the religious comments many reviews have talked about as the last thing I want is to be paid to be proselytized to. When I arrived, I got even more worried about that as there are religious images everywhere. We were also frustrated because their website shows they open at 9 am (see screenshot) but we arrived at 930 to find other people waiting saying they were told they don't open until 10:00. We were not off to a good start. HOWEVER, all of that changed when the carriage pulled in. We walked up to purchase our tickets and there is large sign The ticket window that states there admission is $21.95 per adult and you will be charged a credit card fee. Right underneath that it says that if you pay cash tickets are $20. We chose to pay cash and I recommend that you do too, because that will leave you with more money to tip your driver. Our driver was very nice and informative and nowhere along our journey did he talk about anything religious. He explained that the canyon was formed by nature and untouched by man. Our tour was full of interesting information and a few laughs here and there. Asking for female volunteers to change the horse's diaper might have been a little misogynistic, but I don't think it was malicious. The tour was very laid-back and I felt comfortable. He did stopidway through the tour to rest the horses for a moment and offer us some postcards. He explained, as people have noted, that he makes the majority of his money as a tour guide from tips and from selling the postcards. We chose to purchase the cards at the end of the journey because we would have tipped anyway. It actually seems quite sad that the guides feel the need to do this in order to make a living wage. It was dog friendly but it was clear right away that the horses did not want our dog anywhere near them. So we were very respectful of that and made sure not to bring her close to them and to sit all the way in the back. She didn't bark or fuss at all and even fell asleep in our laps on the ride. There were 13 of us on the wagon so it was a little packed. It was a very short trip through the canyon, maybe 30 or 40 minutes, but it was definitely worth it. The Dells are incredibly touristy and this was by far the most enjoyable thing we did here. I would definitely recommend this tour, although I think it probably makes a big difference which guide you get. I also think that being prepared helped me enjoy the experience that much more. Happy trails everyone!

The gentleman upfront was nice enough to only charge me for 2 adults, even though I later checked the website and saw my 5 year old normally would have been charged at a lower price. My children, ages 3 and 5, had a blast. They ran around from exhibit to exhibit. I like that each one had instructions printed to explain the illusion. If you're into outer space, space stations, etc., the second room is for you! My son and I paid the $4/ person cost to Ride in the space shuttle VR experience. It wasn't really that exciting, but my 5 year old enjoyed it. My favorite part was the 3rd exhibit. Don't forget to head upstairs as well. The Van de Graff generator (to make your hair stand up) didn't seem to work. I have a picture of myself as a child standing there, so I was pretty bummed I couldn't get one with my children. Since it was cold and snowing, we didn't experience any outdoor exhibits, but there is plenty to do inside. You do have to walk outside briefly between exhibits, so dress appropriately. Definitely would return!
