Every year he would spend a whole day putting them up, only for me to inevitably ask him to change one thing or another (I mean, it was fine, but I like what I like). Eventually he decided he'd had enough of hanging lights (not of me), and so I turned to Yelp to see what I could find. Enter Deck the House and Jason and Moxie. They're reasonably priced, licensed and insured, and they really know lights. Their years of experience, creative vision, and innate attention to detail equip them with a level of expertise rarely found elsewhere (we also love that they use their own lights - no more storing and fighting tangled strands for us!). Not only are Jason and Moxie two of Santa's hardest working (and most professional) helpers, but they are also genuinely good humans who deeply care about their clients. This year they surprised us with a little something extra to brighten our holidays after a very medically challenging time in our daughter's life (and ours). What might seem like a small kindness to others was immeasurable to us and spoke to the core of who they are. Jason and Moxie are loving and lovely people (also, "Moxie" is a kick-ass name). I'm assuming it was bc I was calling for HOA and you may not have been insured or licensed? In any case, please learn to communicate with your clients. Year after year, we have paid for Christmas lights to be installed, and year after year, there is…read moreat least one problem: broken lights, rain shorting the lights, paint and stucco torn off, my constant worry about people falling or breaking roof tiles. Last holiday season, I started seeing permanent LED light installations and thought they were beautiful but must be super expensive. However, when LumenFX's postcard hit our mailbox a couple months back and I asked for an estimate, Brandon came back with a number that was suprisingly reasonable; the cost had a break-even time of about 3-4 years. We decided to go ahead with it and Brandon was super efficient about coming out to measure up and get color samples for the gutter-matched tracks that the lights would go in. A couple weeks later, Caden was out to install the lights. Caden was incredibly careful, knowledgeable, neat, and detail oriented, and had our lights impeccably installed within a couple days. There was a hiccup with some faulty equipment, but Caden addressed that quickly and worked around our schedule to get everything set up just right. He answered all my questions and gave me a thorough and extremely clear tutorial on how to operate the lights, and assured me that if I had any issues, they would be right out to help troubleshoot and fix! After Caden was done, we drove around the block to compare our installation with the other LED lights, and I have to say, none of them compare to LumenFX. They have exposed wires and lights, whereas LumenFX is completely sealed within a color-matched track, making the look extremely elegant. I'm incredibly thrilled with the outcome: no more yearly worries, and insanely more combinations of lights possible for different holidays. And for those who are worried that LEDs don't do warm whites, LumenFX's product has you covered with about 20 different warm whites that are perfectly classic. Last Fall we hired The Standard Design and Nursery to refurbish and plant our front yard. What a…read moredisaster! The design looked good and the results were just horrible. They "dumped" old roses and plants in our yard and charged us triple the price that Plant World and Roger's Garden charge for the same plants. (We went to each of those nurseries to compare prices). On top of that Standard refused to replace dead plants, did not stick to the design that we approved and paid for, did not plant all of the flowers we paid for, and in general did a lousy job which cost a fortune. We recommend to NEVER do business with Standard on Ortega Highway! (If you are interested in viewing their plants, contact us and we will show you what old and woody rose bushes look like! And also a $3000 orange bush which was not in the plan but that we were charged for.... Plus a $1000 "warranty"! )
