The people who work here basically live in the same space as they cook and the atmosphere is gross. Food isn't good either.

Very Speedy service little hard to understand on the phone they do speak fast and with a bit of an accent so it tends to make things a little hard to understand. I ordered the general Gao chicken of which was very flavorful the crab rangoons were more breading than the cheese mixture, and the spring roll nice and crunchy I'm just not too sure on the filling in it as I don't usually get them any any sauce, and the fried rice was super Bland no flavor at all only slightly more than plain rice I had the pork fried rice which came with the general Gao dinner that I ordered. Feeling hungry after starving now on campus at Middlebury College during Thanksgiving break with all our dining halls closed, my dear friend Joey and I ordered food over the phone with all the food information readily available online which is great. We both ordered the dinner combination for the General Tso's Chicken which means it comes with an egg roll (worst egg roll I've ever had), two crab rangoons (cheese wontons that could have used more crab to be honest), and pork fried rice (I'm not a huge fried rice person to begin with to judge this fairly but it was okay as a fried rice) (the chicken itself made up for everything else, with the spice and perfect texture to it)! The food was delivered in a timely manner with the delivery guy very helpful and accommodating though he kind of got lost on or campus. My friend Joey ordered for us but she could not quite understand the man over the phone, and the woman over the phone was helpful but getting frustrated at us by that point, whereas the man delivering for us was a bit more accommodating. The chicken I think was advertised as $7 per person but the total came out to be $20, but the portions were kind of fair in relation to the price and it probably also accounted for the cost of delivery. The chicken is seasoned well, it gave me the kick I so desperately missed ever since coming to this state that does not seem to enjoy having spice in the food. Maybe it's just me. I missed having any sort of ethnic food, and this isn't the most authentic spot but it at least fulfills some sort of craving for me. Delivery was good. We stopped in here for lunch and found the food to still be of very high quality. I had the Chef's Noodle #4 Hong Kong Pan Fried Noodle and it was fabulous; obviously made of fresh ingredients. The other two had Crab Rangoon (appetizer #10), a perennial favorite of hers, but not one of mine, and Chef's Noodle #2 Malaysia Chow Fun with beef. It was very good. Not fancy, but good. I'm not jumping up and down about how great it is, but now that I think of it, maybe I should be! I went late on a Friday night during a good snowfall. It was right next to the Motel I stayed at, (which was also very good), because I didn't want to drive home across the mountains... but I digress... I got Beef and Broccoli Dinner Combo and it was good. I agree with the other reviews that the "Egg-roll", that was really a Spring-roll, could have been better. Chicken fingers were very good and not too greasy. The Beef& Broccoli was very very good: tender beef and cooked-just-right Broccoli with thin sliced Carrot as well, in an nice sauce, over a pile of white rice, (you can get Porkfriedrice too). I also had Chow Fun. It was very good also. Chow Fun is one of my favorites, so I'm a little picky. It has a wider noodle that I like. This one had lots of Chicken, Beef, & Shrimp! The seasoning was excellent and the proteins cooked just right. Not my favorite noodle; I like them wider, but overall surprisingly good. Fast service, fresh veggies, and out the door for under $20! I really over ate because I hadn't eaten all day, and still had enough for a huge lunch the next day! I'm a fan. read more

The atmosphere inside and outside is depressing. However, since there is not so many places for asian food in Middlebury, Magic Wok surely is somewhere to go for your asian cravings. That being said, the food wasn't superb or authentic. I only give 4 stars because of the delicious hot and sour soup. The price was reasonable for Middkids. read more

I think Magic Wok is definitely better than China House, and for being in Vermont maybe this Chinese food is a 4, but since coming back again this fall (2014) I think the food gets worse and worse. Go to Sabai Sabai if you want any kind of asian food in Middlebury, it could very well end up being the same price with a much better atmosphere. read more

Definately as good as it gets in Middlebury. For the area the food is really good. I have really enjoyed the General Tso's chicken and lo mein. The restaurant looks a little dumpy from the outside, but inside it is nicely decorated. read more

So.. where to begin. We decided to treat ourselves to lunch with our children one afternoon. When we got there, there was no one else in the restaurant, and we were seated right away. The lady who sat us asked us what we would like to drink (her English was not to good) my husband and I ordered sodas and asked for Shirley temples for the kids. She looked at us crooked and walked away. Someone else had to come ask us what we wanted. Then we were told they don't make those. Ok, fine. The kids had sprite. No big. So then we ordered our Pupu for 6. She again looked at us sideways.and asked us if we were sure. Yup. That's what we want. And a side of pork fried rice, and boneless ribs....since those were not included in the Pupu plater. So she leaves and comes back a few moments later saying they don't have any chicken wings. Ok.. so more chicken fingers it is. I would have rather they knocked the proce off of the order of spare ribs. Anyway. We get the bill, and I could have fallen over. The amount we paid was double what we paid anywhere in our old state. The service was sub par, and the food was mediocre. Probably will not go back. read more

good food but lady on the phone, rude!!! does not know how to talk to customers. I order food, delivery to the Marriot Hotel but when I was on the phone with her, I was confused on what the pork and asked what it looks like. she said "I don't know, how am I suppose to know" so I told her I'd look it up and call her back, she didn't say anything and hung up. I looked it up and found what I wanted and called back but than I asked for "red sauce" as well. she's says "no, your plant don't come with that." I asked her again that I would like that in a different order. she then says she don't know what I'm talkin about. I wasn't 100% sure what it was called so i asked her to name the sauces they have. she continued to say it don't come with my plant. so I was like, okay whatever than forget the red sauce. they brought my food and the man who brought it was very very nice! I gave him $10 for a $8 meal. I got out of work and decided I wanted something else, hot and sour soup. so I decided to stop there on my way home with my boyfriend, i went in side and the lady was on the phone. All i did was walk up the order and she put her finger in my face to hold on. which, okay we did. as soon as she was done talking i order my soup. I asked for extra mushrooms. she says "how much". I said "double the amount". She said no "$1,$2,$3??" So I said again, "whatever there is for double". she says "no I need to pick one" So whatever I did, I picked $1 not knowing how much more it was? I only had $100 on. she says "$5" I handed her the $100 cause that's all I had and she says "umm it's only $5" I say "yes, but that's all i have" she pause for a second and again said no. which I didn't understand. money is money. so my boyfriend took a $50 out and handed it to her. With an attitude, he takes it out of his hands and gives me my change. my boyfriend and I were just so disappointed on how she treated us. will never go back there unless we can get more respect and feel welcomed! shame!! read more

As an ex restaurant owner, I'm not sure how this place is still open. Doesn't the health department stroll by this part of the world? Maybe i caught them on an off day. I've never ate in such a dirty dining room (in the us). The food was awful I barely ate half of mine. Couldn't even bring myself to pack the leftovers for the dog. Ended up going to another restaurant the same night since we were left disappointed and hungry. Nothing against the owners, just warning others not to expect much. read more
