Disgusting, in every way, from food to personality.
If you order on magicwokpickup.com, you will see a menu that very clearly states each item and what is included. I ordered the chicken and broccoli, and the only place on the ENTIRE menu where this is listed is under "combination." Note that this is NOT a menu item under "chef specialties." It is not possible to order it from that part of the menu. The menu clearly states that it comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll.
Not only did it not come with either rice or egg roll, it comes slathered in a neon pink slime that resembles the taste of nothing. I'm not sure why one would want to decorate a dish in neon pink, if it adds nothing to the flavor.
The crab rangoons came in an opened bag, and they were soggy and cold (as well as tasteless). Same with the sweet and sour chicken, which is terribly difficult to screw up. They accomplished it.
So, I called to complain. I have NEVER called a takeout place to complain, and it's not like this is my first time trying the big world of cheap takeout. I was immediately greeted with an angry guy who, without even hearing my first complaints, was ready to argue. I explained every single problem. He became louder and interrupted even more. His argument was that I'd ordered the wrong thing. Ok, great. Let's talk about that. I know how to read a menu, and I know how to place an order. Of course, this isn't a great way to get a customer to be patient with you, as he had never planned on being helpful in the first place. He was excited to argue. By the way, he never once acknowledged my complaint that every single item tasted terrible and/or was cold and soggy. That didn't matter to him. I suggested that perhaps he change his online menu, since it's obviously not correct. He replied, "Well you know what, actually no we don't because you just ordered wrong." Finally, he said "you know what, no other customers have ever complained ever and you're just confused." Wow. Then, he screamed for the English-savvy young woman to take the call, and I could hear him SCREAMING in the background. She was trained to treat me like trash as well. She spoke more clearly, but just repeated the same things over and over about how I ordered wrong and how "next time" I should order properly. I was shocked that she assumed there would be a next time. She did that "ok ok ok goodbye goodbye ok goodbye have a nice day" hang-up that unprofessional, angry secretaries pull. It's rare, obviously, because most understand how to perform a basic job, but they've managed to set records for business train wrecks today.
Again, let me make this clear: I ordered properly. You can look for yourself on their menu and see very plainly that "chicken and broccoli special" is only in one place: the combo menu. There is no possible way to accidentally take an order for any other "special" menu, which is what they did. My order was wrong and I was charged the full price for something I did not receive. In addition, every thing else was horrible. I can't finish it, and I'm sitting here looking at $33 worth of trash. We can't eat this. It's going in the garbage, along with my money. On top of it all, I was rudely harassed, insulted, and lied to by these people.
I am an adult, and I think I know a little bit about how to order low-priced fast food from a run-of-the-mill Chinese shop. Perhaps others have just refused to waste their time complaining, because I certainly have never felt the need to speak up about fast food. But this was so bad, so shameful, that I am actually sitting here writing a review about a small-town American Chinese food shack. I can't believe I'm actually giving them more of my time here, and I'm kind of laughing to myself about the ridiculousness of it all.
I am appalled that these people took money from me and treated me like garbage in the process. read more
