Pedicures include not just excellent nail care but also leg massage, hot stone massage and hot towel. They do a very very good job. The vibe is happy, friendly, helpful. This is not the lengthy calm zen spa experience that restores peace to your soul. This is the friendly neighborhood spa where you are treated well, receive excellent service and pay a reasonable price. It usually busy but you can often walk in and get the service you need. Very disappointed in the service provided here today. The technicians disregarded the instructions and when it was pointed out that the color selection for the design was wrong they simply dismissed the concern saying it looked good the way it was done. The quality of the work was poor and clearly rushed. The technicians were unfriendly or disrespectful. We will not be returning. read more

Terrible. I booked an appt. and due to a family of 7 who walked in just before me, I had to wait 45 mins to get a chair and another 10mins to get someone to start to remove my polish. I was having shellac removed and my nails repainted, not even a manicure. The nail lady was clearly annoyed and filed my nail tops so low my fingers were actually hot. When I mentioned this she said she's been doing this for "25yr" and knows what to do. My real nail had a chip in it and I asked her to file it straight, she told me she's have to charge me for a full manicure if she did that. !!!! Finally she put on 3 coats of shellac and did not go all the way to the cuticle or sides. A week later when I went somewhere else they actually commented on how thick and uneven the polish was. When I showed up they said that they were busy and sorry come back later, even though I called. Update: the man I originally spoke to called back and apologized. I have been going to Magic Nails for so many years now I've lost count. I had moved from Tuscany to the far SW about 7 years ago and so I tried to find another place closer to where I lived. After trying several different places over about 3 years I just decided to make the drive and started going back to Magic Nails. I have consistently gotten a great mani/pedi here and the people are great. There are lots of nail salons in the Crowfoot area, but I decided to try out Magic Nails as it looked clean and organized when I popped by to book an appointment for a pedicure. I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment and was seated in a large, comfortable massage chair with foot basin, and offered a bottle of water. I noticed that all of the other chairs were occupied- it seems to be a popular place. After soaking my feet the nail technician clipped, filed, buffed, exfoliated and massaged my feet to perfection. Everything was painless and the service itself was gentle. My nails were nicely polished with base and top coats, plus two layers of OPI polish. They also offer nail art and fake nails, but I wanted something simple. The cost of my pedicure was $42. They don't take Mastercard, so bring a Visa, debit card or cash. (Aside: Half an hour before they closed, two women popped their heads in and asked if they would "fit in" pedicures. Uncool. No employees should feel obligated to stay late on Saturday evening so that you can get a last-minute pedicure... and don't assume that the technicians are empowered enough to say no to your request.) read more

This place is great! Ive been getting my nails done (Acrylic) for about 2 years now, and I just recently tried out Magic Nails now that Ive moved up to the North West. My first trip was GREAT! They always take their time and my nails look fantastic when I leave, and seem to last even longer than they ever did before. even at three weeks when they have grown out a fair amount, they still look decent. Price is okay.... not as cheap as they place that I went to before... ends up being about 43 bucks for a fill after tip, although I do get sparkly tips with a gel coating on top. So seems pretty fair to me. Defs worth a try!!!! read more

The service my mom and I experienced at Magic Nails was bad enough that we will not return. We called ahead of time and made an appointment, and arrived on time. Someone else walked in after us without an appointment and wanted a manicure. We were seated for our pedicure, and one of the ladies started working on my mom's feet. Within a minute, the manager redirected her to give the other customer a manicure before my mom's pedicure. My mom waited 15 minutes for the lady to finish the customer without the appointment. The pedicures themselves were fine. However, when they were finished, both employees walked away from us, we assumed, while our paint dried, although they never said anything to us. They never came back. 20 minutes later, my mom and I had to peel our toe separators off our feet ourselves, get out of our chairs with bare feet, find our shoes and put them on without damaging our nails. No one even acknowledged us. The lady only got out of our seat when we went to the front to pay. We were not the only ones this happened to. While we were there, someone else walked in without an appointment and was offered immediate service. Several minutes later, someone with an appointment came in, the staff acknowledged her AND that she had an appointment, and she waited 20 minutes past her appointment time before she was helped. I was in town visiting my family, but have been to Magic Nails several times with my mom and other friends. My mom, who lives in Calgary, will not be returning to Magic Nails. Serving a customer without an appointment, especially one that arrived AFTER one with an appointment is not acceptable. When you pay over $40 for a service, it needs to be done properly. I have received far better service for a lower price elsewhere. Very disappointed. read more

Beside BMW, in the same plaza as RBC. I had never been to this "salon" before but was here out of sheer convenience and the $40 pedi pricetag. The name is actually Magic Nails and Spa but this is NOT a spa. I would come back here but only if it was the only nail place in all of Calgary. I walked in, 330pm on a weekday, staff was just working on each other. Hmm.. Was asked to pick out my nail colour while they filled a tub for me and they were nice enough to get me a bottle of water. I was trying to figure out how clean this place was. It seemed OK in that regard. The pedi I got was average. No frills. When the pedi was done, I asked the girl I had if she would please put a top coat on. She said she would. Then she went off for a half hour to help someone else in the salon while I dried. When she finally came back to me, I asked her again if she would apply a top coat to which she replied that she had already. ???? Nooo, you did not, wth? I let it go, paid, cringed to give 15% out of sheer obligation to not get hexed on the way out and left, vowing not to return. Now, I get to do my own top coat so my nails are not wrecked in a day! 1 star added for the massage chair. read more

I had my nails done prior to going on vacation. By the next day you could see where gel on the edges were lifting, and by day 2 the gel completely chipped off my natural nail. Had I been able to I would have gone back and made them fix it however, I had already left the country so I could not come back to have them fixed. Not impressed at all. Not to mention, don't book here if you like getting in on time, they cram as many people in as they can and if they finish a few mins early will take a walk in and make their clients with appointments wait. Also nail files are not sterilized after each client, I actually question if they clean their tools at all. (After being to other salons that actually do clean their tools I question their practices) Please do yourself a favour and go somewhere else... They will try and put a show on for you your first visit but once they feel they have you as a client the customer service goes right down the toilet. read more

Watch out for those hidden fees... I thought that 35$ was a steal for acrylic nails, so I decided to try Magic Nails out. At first glance, the salon looked really nice, and I was offered a water bottle and tea. Afterwards, the lady at the front brought me the swatches for nail colour. Now, maybe it's on me for not asking, or maybe it's because I was a newbie at acrylic nails, but she did not mention that nail polish would not be included with the nail application, and gave me the swatches telling me to choose a colour as if it was included. She did not ask if I wanted colour on top, she simply handed the colours to me. Now, after I was seated, the man who was doing my nails started doing his work. I did not once see him clean any of the tools he used on the lady before me. Throughout the whole thing, he was speaking Vietnamese with the other people working around him, which I thought was very disrespectful considering my friend and I were making efforts to speak English in front of them (we both speak French). Now, at the end, the guy applied nail polish, and when I went to pay, said it would be 60$ because he applied Shellac Polish even though I NEVER asked for that! I tried to argue that to him, but his English was so broken that it was no luck. A really clean and friendly facility, their English is a little broken but they get me in and out, what I want from a place like this (if I want to linger, I'd go to a spa). Three of us were going out for a "mom's day out", and we made a reservation for 2:30 for a mani/pedi. We arrived a few minutes early, and were told to wait for a bit. Finally, 10 minutes after our appointment time, we were told that there were 2 chairs available, and one would come available in "2 minutes", but both chairs on either side of the empty chairs were just beginning their pedicures... it was going to be at least another 15 - 20 minutes before the 3rd member of our party was going to be able to join us. So happy with my bio gel mani. I had previously had a "gel" mani done before, but it turns out it was really acrylic ( when they mix gel and powder, run!!). Their technique is with an acrylic extension with a layer of gel on top, and it works. I was apprehensive because I hate the idea of acrylic tips, but really it's more gel than anything. It took a little getting used to - my nails felt really brittle and "too fake" when I left, but I've since adjusted and am used to the feeling. It's a lot more natural feeling and looking, not to mention decently strong. I work with my hands a lot so I am concerned about lifting or breaking. read more

I've only been here for pedicures but they do a GREAT job! Very thorough - hot stones, hot towels, leg massage, you name it. The $40 price is great too. They tend to leave you for quite a while to let toes dry but this is perfect if you've got time and can enjoy the massage chair. I've seen other customers get a bit annoyed as some of the employees have been talking and texting on their personal phones while they have customers but have never personally experienced this problem. I have been a customer at Magic nails for 4 years since I moved to Calgary I have stayed loyal to them. However, you're only as strong as your weakest employee, today I called to change an appointment I had made earlier this week for 5 people, I called to let them know if I could cancel one person and come in an hour earlier, the lady I spoke to was incredibly rude and has always had an attitude. She is one of the new people that has been hired and has always maintained a very snobby attitude. I work customer service and that is not okay to treat a long time customer so inappropriately without a good enough reason. They just lost my business permanently read more

I came here to get my very first Brazilian wax which was a mistake. I done it on a whim because I couldn't get in anywhere else. I didn't do my research on this place beforehand, stupid me for going to a nail salon for a Brazilian wax but why would they even offer a service without proper technique? Anyways, the first girl that was going to take me was very hesitant and looked scared so I asked her if she's done this before and she admitted to only doing it two times. At that point, I was going to leave and I regret not doing so. This other girl came in and seemed confident so I caved. She didn't use anything to clean my area, she didn't wear gloves, and she was double dipping into the wax pot! I work in a hair salon and I took a basic waxing course so I kind of have basic knowledge on how to wax. Red flags were going up the whole time and I wanted to leave but didn't want to cause a scene. It was extremely painful I almost cried afterwards. I will never go back there, next time I will go somewhere like Frilly Lilly that specializes in Brazilians, or I'll do it myself lol. read more

I phoned in the morning with no appointment and I was able to get in within half an hour. this is the first time I have ever gone and got my nails done There and this was by far the best place I have ever been too. I got gel acrylic nails and they turned out great she understood exactly what I was looking for and they were $60. instead of having a rack of nail polish to pick from they have swatches of Al other nail polish they have and it's very helpful seeing what the colour actually turns out to be. definitely going back and making this my nail salon that I will always come too. The gentleman that did my nails for me seemed very disinterested in his job. He didn't say hi to me, didn't speak to me the whole time while he was doing my nails. When he was finished he didn't say a word just walked to the front and took my money. He didn't even do a good job. There are bubbles on the acrylic nails. It's not very smooth at all. He didn't do a good job cleaning around the nail bed and the extra 12 bucks I paid for sparkly tips, the corners of the nails are missing sparkles, so you can see the fake nail tip he put on underneath. Will go back but will refuse to have him do my nails. I don't even know his name, but its not the super bubbly nice guy that works there all the time. read more

Went to Harvest Hills Blvd and be warned, worst manicure I ever had in my life. My hands were so dry from polish remover, didn't have any cream or oil applied on them and not a stroke of massage to relax me! Please save yourself the trip and find another place worth your time and money. read more

Just got gels done there for my first time and they were great!! They were able to fit me in on the same day. The woman (really wish I got her name) took her time and even offered me a drink. They looked so natural and did a really nice job. I will absolutely go back there for a fill ($60 for full set UV gels and $40 for UV gel fills). read more

Had appointments for two shellac pedicures tonight, and we were extrememly disappointed in both of them! I had to wait at least twenty for my pedicure to start, despite having made an appointment and not walked in, and then got a rushed, inadequate job to make up for not having a technician available. They forgot to put the top coat on my mom's shellac job, which we didn't realize until we were home, and there's bits of cotton stuck to the unsmooth finish. Not to mention they nicked us both multiple times and our heels aren't smooth at all. I've had a much better pedicure for a lot less money!!Never going back here and would definitely not recommend! read more

Worst experience ever! I had booked an appointment 2 months in advance for myself and for my daughters, to have have a mother/daughter day together. We were looking forward to our first experience having manicure& pedicures. When I checked us in for our appointment I confirmed mani/pedi for the 3 of us. They said yes and seated us for our pedicures. It was going fine, then the 3 of us were rushed out of chairs suddenly when other customers came in, and put in other chairs to let our toenails dry. Nobody came back to say anything about how long until our manicures would be started. Other customers who arrived after us were getting their pedicures & manicures done in the same chair and didn't have to move. After 15 min I asked the staff if they are going to do our manicures as well? The lady replied oh, I forgot you booked manicures. Then they sat myself and one of my daughters in another chair and did a rush job of our finger nails and did such a bad job that I could of done better myself. I asked her to redo mine. One staff member yelled at my daughter for accindently banging one of her toenails while moving to another chair because it had to be fixed. In the mean time my other daughter was still waiting another 20 min to have her manicure started. The ladies doing both my daughters nails cut them and both of their cuticles were bleeding! At that point I lost my cool and blasted them for having such a completely bad experience!!! It was a very dissapointing and brutal experience overall, which was extremely dissapointing for our first time going. And of course, when it came time to pay our bill, suddenly the staff were very accomodating! I asked for some kind of a discount since we had to wait for so long for our manicures, due to their screw -up and they denied us!! I went for a pedicure and afterward noticed I still had to pumice remaining dry spots and rough spots on my feet. Also, she only put one coat of polish on my toes, no topcoat. And this is what really grossed me out. After the woman in the adjacent chair had left, they only drained the water and rinsed it with just water. I never saw the spa area, where the next person's feet would go, cleansed w/ any antiseptic or cleanser, at all. They just refilled it with water for the next unsuspecting client. Also, they didn't even bother to wipe down the chair and arm pieces either, not even w/ a damp cloth....eeeeewwww. Just got it ready for the next client. That place is like a production line, after yr 1/2 hour, boom, you are outta that chair, doesn't matter if your nails are dry or not, which mine were not, btw....it's just on to the next customer. Made an appointment. I had never been to this salon before. I came in, was not at all made to feel welcome. Didn't know where they kept their colours and was not offered information of any kind. Was told to sit in the pedi chair. The pedicure itself was very good. The salon is not friendly or welcoming in general at all. When I changed seats to get my gel fill done is when everything went so very badly. It took her three tries to get my nails done right. In the end I didn't get the colour I wanted. At one point she was going to go ahead and just do white tips and seemed very put out when I told her that wasnt what I came for. In the end I have uneven nails with ridges and dips in them in a colour that I didn't want to begin with. I paid 20 dollars more than I normally do and will never ever go back to this place again! read more

I'm so unimpressed with the gel nails that they did for me. the nails have fallen off so easy and in about a week half of them have fallen off. It was so bad I will not be returning to get my nails done there. it was a waste of $65 dollars. I recommend not going there if you want a GOOD job done. there are bubbles already in my nails and the gel only covered 3/4 of my nail and the only thing that stick to my nail is the fake nail and not the gel. so not happy with the results read more
