Beware! Out of over 500 reviews, I've only given a handful of poor reviews. I gave all the vendors at my wedding 5 stars except for Mike. As Mike has been in the business for 20 years and the glowing reviews on Yelp, WeddingWire, and the Knot, I made the mistake of booking him. Mike loves to march to his own beat and is extremely disorganized, ill-prepared, lazy, inattentive to details, unprofessional, outdated, lackadaisical, and quite frankly a bozo. While I was impressed by all of the vendors at my wedding, I was seething and cringing by Mike's countless mistakes. As other Yelpers have noted, Mike is highly skilled at mixing beats for Hindu/American fusion weddings and getting everyone to hit the dance floor. However, Mike caters to the crowd rather than to the bride and groom. There's "no magic", here are Mike's top 8 blunders which I confronted him at the end of my wedding night: #1: Using an old schedule that was 2 months old! After 3 phone calls with Mike and sending him a few revised schedules based on feedback that he provided, he used the 1st schedule that I sent him with wrong bridal party names, songs, and times! He neglected all of the changes that we discussed on the phone and failed to use the new schedule that I sent a week before the wedding like he requested. When 5 names are mentioned, but only 2 women and a man walk out to "Sister Sledge" playing, that's a blunder! #2: Missing Cues/Repeated stepping of glasses. My fiancee and I are highly private people and don't enjoy long kissing sessions in front of our parents and friends. We actually took out all kissing pics from our slideshow. During the reception, after a big frown and shaking of the head after the 1st stemming of glasses, Mike initiated and continued to round up the crowd for additional stemming of glasses. It got so bad that some of the bridal party members broke some of the glasses in retailation. The stemming of the glasses is a topic that I also wish Mike discussed with us before the wedding so we could have easily prevented this embarrassing mishap. #3 Announcing the grooms name first and then the bride's name. A big no-no! "Peter and Aarti Pruitt". Mike believes in men first, even at weddings. #4 Playing songs on the "Do NOT play list". I hate "Gangnam Style" with a passion and it was among the 20 don't play list. Not only did Mike happily play the song, but he refused to change the song when I asked him to! That wasn't the only one... #5 Begging for a Big Tip. Mike isn't shy about charging top dollar $3K and the audacity to ask my father for a big tip before the event! The bozo loves to overpromise and underdeliver. My dad was way too nice to tip him $200. As a firm believer of tips, I honestly would NOT tip him. #6: Trying to Upsell at the WRONG time. Mike and I had a couple of minutes before the reception started. Rather than using this crucial time to discuss making any last-minute changes to the schedule (ex. moving things up as we wanted to skip sunset pics due to the weather), instead Mike kept trying to repeatedly sell us on the dhol guy. I hate BHANGRA, why would I pay extra for it? #7 Forgetting to play the cake cutting song. I was looking forward to hearing my favorite Baby Love during the cake cutting, too bad I never got the chance to hear it! #8 Not taking full ownership. After confronting Mike about all of the blunders listed above, he kept deflecting and making excuses. Despite repeated emails and phone calls before the wedding, Mike was very ill-prepared and was "winging" it at the wedding with sheepish grins. While I appreciate Mike's apology for his mistakes in a follow-up email that he sent, he doesn't take away from the painful memories that I experienced due to his careless mistakes. He single-handedly ruined the reception. Not once did Mike make it about the bride and the groom, it was more of Mike's day and pleasing the crowd. If you want to make your day special, I recommend tuning him out and enjoying the beat of someone else. read more

Literally the BEST DJ in the area!! I've been to a lot of Indian weddings but by far he takes the trophy for getting the crowd rolling. He had a great mix of Indian and English songs which brought everyone to the dance floor! The ending of the night he went all out and got everyone together and we all danced away to a great beat! This review is long overdue! I was at a Mehndi party last night with Magic Mike DJing and chatting up with 3 people. Two had him at their weddings and the third at his FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY!! I got married two years ago and chose Magic Mike as my DJ. I didn't see the point of experimenting with new DJs- there's a reason he's been in the industry for so long: 1. He is able to feel the pulse of the crowd 2. He is extremely genuine and warm So many people asked for his number after the wedding. I'd be shocked if he's not booked till 2020! read more

An amazing VIRTUAL experience! Mike DJ'd our wedding 10 years ago and it is still talked about by family and friends as the best reception they've been to. In fact, a lot of folks asked when we are going to throw a party like that again. The idea of a 10 year anniversary party got ruined due to the Covid pandemic but Mike came to the rescue. He put on an amazing event over Zoom giving all who attended a much needed break. People from all over the world enjoyed 3.5 hours of great music and Mike was a phenomenal emcee who got everyone involved and asked people to say something about us during some breaks. DJ Magic Mike was sooo good!! This was the 5th wedding I attended in a month, so I heard a lot of DJs in many different events over the span of the month. He got the crowd going as soon as he started playing music. Everyone had a blast and danced the night away. His transitions were great and playlist was solid. Where do I start! Brian and I had DJ Magic Mike for our wedding and if I had to put his work into two words it would be ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! From the start of the Barat to the last dance during the reception this man and his crew put their heart and soul into making sure the music was perfect and that everyone was having a good time on the dance floor. Not only that, he was punctual and he paid close attention to the details that we wanted in our music selection. He did a great job being MC as he has a wonderful voice that engages the crowd. We loved how he got everyone involved with the event through his dhol player and his dancer. It helped the guests get into the zone even if they were shy to begin dancing! His experience in the field helped with playing all types of songs from old to new - something for everyone to get excited about at our event. Dj Magic Mike is a true professional. Not only did he and his team brave the slippery roads of New York to drive to Florida for our reception. They did it all with a smile on their faces. Mike is a seasoned DJ with the latest music and a flair for reading a crowd. He had us dancing the night away. Now, one month after our reception, we have friends asking us, "Where did you find that DJ?" We chose him and his team because we knew he had a great reputation and had a huge selection of Indian and Armenian music. DJ Mike lent his services to our family 17 years ago for my sister-in-laws reception and there is no doubt Mike still knows how to move a crowd! The banner and lighting he provided was also spot on with the tone of our event! Mike is not only a great DJ, but MC as well. He introduced all of our family, our speeches and really kept the event flowing nicely. We enjoyed having Mike and his team in Florida and would not hesitate to use him again for future events. We hired DJ Magic Mike for our barat, wedding and reception at Westmount Country Club on May 2013. My fiancé had prior experience with him as his brother had also hired him for his wedding and reception a few years back. Based on their positive experience, we decided to meet with him to discuss our event. One thing that separates DJ Magic Mike from all other DJ's (and we met with MANY DJ's) is his low pressure personality. He listens to your needs and never pushes more expensive or unnecessary packages onto you which ALMOST ALL other DJ's will do. He is very easy to get along with and very flexible which is so crucial especially as the big day approaches. We had an idea of exactly how we wanted our event to flow but Mike had also made some excellent suggestions in our planning to make the event flow even smoother. However, no matter how friendly and easy going a DJ is, it doesn't mean a thing if the music is not up to par. And this is where DJ Magic Mike really excelled. We had given him a sample of certain songs we wished to have played and he did an excellent job mixing in our songs with songs our guests really enjoyed. DJ Mike and DJ Ravi (Goldy) made our wedding sound fantastic. Our feet are still sore from all the dancing. The music and the lighting were on point for all our events (Sangeet, Ceremony and Reception). Our guests (even the reluctant dancers) were on their feet partying all night. The playlist was a wonderful balance of Indian beats, Top 40 and Latin vibes. Mike and Ravi made all of our guests (Indian, non-Indian, young, old) feel welcome. While the events and execution were awesome, I also strongly recommend Mike as you plan your big day. He was very professional in setting up a introductory call, listening to my preferences, but also making adjustments throughout the night to make sure the crowd was enjoying the party. Can't say enough good things about Magic Mike. He is an amazing person and very professional. He was the DJ at our wedding reception, Sangeet and mehendi and his work was outstanding. I love the fact that he is so up to date with the current trends and music, he was very punctual and set up everything well before the guest arrived. DJ Mike helped make my husband's 50th Bollywood Bash a truly memorable night for all last weekend. His lighting & decor elements made the atmosphere absolutely beautiful and festive. The music was a perfect mix of Indian and Western and had everyone on the dance floor. I also want to highly recommend his dance motivator. He was the best and had our guests literally sweating because they were having so much fun following his lead to the Indian mixes. The drummer also was an amazing touch that really got the crowd going. Do not look any further for a DJ, Mike is your guy! From start to finish the music was flawless and fitting for each part of the wedding. Mike was so easy to work with, did everything we asked and even went above and beyond. Marrying into and Indian family I had no idea what this day was going to be like, it was the best day and it was because of the music. We had 2 weddings in one weekend (Indian then Jewish) and everyone had the best time on the Indian night. Magic Mike recently Deejayed my 40th birthday party and he made the party rock...All my friends are still talking about how great the party was as we danced into the wee hours! Mike is a seasoned DJ with all the latest as well as old music and seems to know what the crowd likes, he has actually been at most of my family's events for over 20 years now. He certainly knows how to set up any party room for the most effective display of lighting and sound. The hallmark of a great DJ is the gauging of the party crowd and mood - he certainly excels in that field. He can liven up the room in a matter of minutes. The most comforting factor with Mike is that he is genuinely a part of your event, unlike other DJs I have seen who are there just to perform their services and be done as quickly as possible. I wish this was a positive review.... However I attended a wedding DJed by DJ Goldy and it was by far the WORST experience I have ever had as far as a guest as a wedding goes. You always hear people complain about a DJ or music at a wedding but this is a legitimate and valid complaint. The DJ came late for the wedding (bc he had flown in on a red eye from a wedding out of state.... How is that anyone's problem when you knew you had another event MONTH's in advance?) as in he came too close to the wedding start time so he was still setting up until the start of the ceremony while guest were being seated. He did not follow the schedule or itinerary given to him (well in advance) and was unsure of the entrance song and start time for the bride. As if that wasn't enough of a disaster he completely screwed up the cues he was given on the itinerary/timeline. He barely played any songs at the reception... How is that possible when your sole job and purpose is to provide music? It was a small and intimate wedding which should have been THAT much easier to entertain (especially since he didn't need to MC. The bride and groom also cut out a lot of the traditional things like entrance announcements, cake cutting, extra lighting, etc). How much easier could his job get? He literally played the same 6 songs over and over and not a single person got up to dance until halfway through the reception because the music was so dry and not danceable. I kept going up and suggesting music and songs and he would "okay" me until I walked away and wouldn't play anything. In addition to not actually DJing aka playing music off of a laptop- half of his musical selection of the 6 songs he played consisted of the ONE artist the bride and groom had made clear that they can't stand and would prefer he plays minimally if at all. I literally could have done a better job by hooking my phone up to speakers and playing music off of Pandora or Spotify or literally my own personal playlist. As a guest, it was cringing in my seat; as I felt like I was watching a rehearsal of what NOT to do as a DJ. If you are too busy to take a job or whatever your issue is- do everyone a favor and DON'T book the gig. Especially not someone's wedding where you are incapable of doing the simple task of having a decent play list on your laptop. I would never recommend this company not only because of the ridiculous lack of music and work ethic but because instead of taking into consideration how they ruined someone's milestone event- they still fought and expected full payment for a service that they Failed to provide (and a hundred people were witnesses to). I had only heard good things up until this wedding but I witnessed first hand just how unprofessional they are. We hired DJ Goldy, Bobby Dhol, and MC Vic from Magic Mike DJ's for our July 11th Fusion Indian-Russian wedding in Queens. We had a Baraat, Indian wedding ceremony, russian wedding ceremony, and reception all in one day. The whole team did a great job and kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night. We got so many compliments on our Dhol player! And while we were initially concerned about a non-Russian DJ mixing Russian and Indian music, DJ Goldy (Ravi) did an outstanding job at keeping both sides of the family happy and on the dance floor the entire night. His dance sets and mixes were awesome and incorporated so many of our favorite genres and songs with very little guidance from us. Our MC was very professional and kept people excited and moving without being obnoxious or overbearing at any point. Overall, we would definitely recommend Magic Mike DJ's to anyone wishing to have an absolute blast at their event! read more

My husband and I were originally introduced to Mike's work at a friend's wedding 3 years ago - with their mixed cultures (her Armenian and he American) we were extremely impressed by his ability to integrate different types of music while keeping both sets of family and friends excited and on the dance floor. My husband and I are both American, but with his Israeli and my Dominican background we knew he would be the perfect fit for us one day. I immediately took down his information and when my husband proposed 2 years later he was the first vendor we called without hesitation. As any bride can attest to my nerves got the best of me as our wedding grew closer and I had hoped Mike and his team would be as good as I remembered. And as soon as our reception began, we immediately knew this was the single best vendor decision we made! Our wedding was beautiful, but most of all it was FUN. Mike and his team know how to read a room and get a crowd going no matter how diverse the group may be. We had all of our friends and family embrace the eclectic mix and danced all night long - he knew exactly what song to play and when to play it. I will never forget looking around the room and seeing every single person in the room seamlessly move from the hora to belting out Marc Anthony's Vivir Mi Vida. In the days following our wedding the most repeated compliment we receive is about Mike and his team. We keep hearing "Where did you find that DJ?!" and "Wow, you guys sure know how to throw a party"! The reality is, we don't know how to throw a party - Mike does! It was truly a union of two families that held through until the last song was played and it was felt by all of our guests. We have personally known Magic Mike since his pre-DJ days at St. John's University and have watched him grow into a known entertainer! He has always done a fantastic job of hyping up a crowd and keeping the party going all night! We were so happy to officially hire him for our daughter's Sweet 16. There was the perfect mix of both Indian and American music, perfect for our crowd and type of party. Our daughter, Maya, was so happy with the music, lights, setup, and MC-ing. DJ Magic Mike did our wedding and welcome party the night before and he was awesome. Guests were coming up to me afterwards to say that he made our party a blast. He has a fabulous song collection and is excellent at reading a crowd -- he had everybody dancing for hours both nights. He was also a deft emcee and host when needed -- even providing a flawless transition in the father daughter dance between me dancing with my dad and me dancing with my stepdad.
