We asked the doorman if the bar was open, but all he said was, "Hodor." "Charmed, I'm sure," I replied. After that enchanting exchange, we opened the door and PRESTO, we managed to walk in all on our own. There were few other humans or White Walkers inside, though that was no problem. We came for the party, but we brought the fun. SIM SALA BIM! We each paid the $25 entrance fee, which could not be waived with a wand, but at least it included one free drink token. Our instructions were then handed to us in envelopes hermetically sealed and kept in a mayonnaise jar since noon that day. "Sign your life away in vanishing ink and off you go," they stated. There was no fine print regarding vows to defend the wall, but we "took the black" anyway in the form of warm, medieval cloaks. We then conjured up some gloves, popped some chill pills, and transported ourselves via portkey into the frozen tomb. All about priorities, we bellied up to the bar and ordered, "A LA PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICHES!" POOF! Krekling Arctic Crowberry Frost materialized, served in glasses made of ice. The drink was pretty, super sweet, and Lady Olenna approved (poison stones cost extra). As our drinks slipped about on the icy tables, some guy named Jon passed by, mumbled something about winter coming, and then walked off. "You know nothing, Jon Snow," we soberly answered back. Feeling refreshed, we checked out the mesmerizing ice art around the room. The sculptures were all delightfully silly to take selfies with and helped to break the ice with strangers. Some of the art was interactive, leaving spaces in which to stick in your face, with or without a frozen expressions. We particularly enjoyed the ice Scream sculptures, which were cheeky nods to Munch and Dairy Queen. But the Pièce de résistance was the majestic ice throne in the center of the bar, sans icy Lannisters. Madonna's "Vogue" was playing at one point, so we played a little Game of Pose to decide who would win the coveted crowning. We spent less than an hour in the bar and decided in our mystical and borderline divine way that we needed to leave once we lost feeling in our faces and sandal-clad feet. Overall this was a fun experience, but once was enough hocus pocus for me. This is a beautiful place. Once you enter, you need a poncho, gloves and then you get your drink, which you've paid for with the entrance fee. The drinks are a little sugary; perhaps you should just go for straight up vodka or akvavit. It was also a little empty when I was there in Late December. I'm sure it gets busier at certain times. The best part of this place is the ice sculptures. Each year they have artists craft new sculptures in ice. You can view them as you sip on your iced drink and sit on animal fur atop ice blocks. This is a great and unique bar! I had never been inside an ice bar until I visited Oslo Norway. The set up inside the bar is awesome! They give you ice shot glasses which are awesome. The ice coat was something I had never seen before. The drinks were not that expensive. The staff and bartenders were cool! They even gave me directions to different parts of Oslo. Afterwards, I went to the gift shop and purchased a shot glass shaped like an ice shot glass to show my friends back home! I would recommend this bar to anyone that is exploring the area or just want to have a nice relaxing time! read more

I'm give them 4 stars for the presentation of the place. So cool inside, it's definitely worth the visit for the experience. The bar however, sucked. The bartender was super nice but the drinks were not worth the price. I had the espresso mojito and it was just kahlua poured into an ice cup... so strange. Definitely a tourist spot. I asked local bartenders, waiters, and people about this place and they all either didn't know what it was or knew it was a tourist spot. It's 160NOK (about $20) to get in, which gives you a free wine and liquor mixed drink.. Which tastes funny but does give you a little buzz. There are some cool ice sculptures, but the amount and creativity there is lacking. I was pretty disappointed since the photos outside made it look a lot better than what it actually was. It's a cool experience to try, but if you're in Norway I would skip this and visit the fjords or other scenic places! read more

Really unique experience right in the heart of Oslo! We went to the Magic Ice Bar at a really odd time, mid afternoon on a weekday and had the place entirely to ourselves for about an hour which was amazing in itself! It eventually began to fill up and we welcomed the additional company. When you enter the storefront you're giving an amazingly warm cape with a hood as well as gloves. Entrance cost includes 1 drink per person at the bar, we went with the house drink which I believe was a wine? Whatever it was it was yummy. Drinks were even served out of ice glasses. The artwork around the bar was probably the most interesting feature as it apparently changes often. Plenty of room to sit down and enjoy your drinks, although overall the bar was really really small. read more

Very COOL - well worth a visit The sculptures are beautiful and the whole experience is very cool - there is something magical about downing akvavit in an ice glass surrounded by sculpted ice in the middle of an Oslo summer. That said, we had a great time largely because we had different expectations than many visitors. To wit... We were in a group making our own fun - don't go expecting to find a ready made 'bar scene'. I would also suggest ignoring the 'free' punch that comes with admission and order an akvavit - you are in Norway after all. Lastly, the Magic Bar IS expensive - but Oslo is ridiculously expensive anyway and you've already paid to get here. read more

Definitely a tourist spot!!! I mean we had to try it out of course, but you pay about $18 USD to walk into a freezer with ice walls, ice sculptures, and an ice bar that you can maybe stay in for like a half hour. They do give you a cape type jacket and some gloves, but it gets a bit chilly in there even with that stuff on. The price also included a pre-made mixed drink that was a bit on the stronger side and supposedly if you hold on to the glass you can get a second drink for a bit cheaper. We stayed, took pictures, drank our drink, talked to the one employee who was telling us about the sculptures, and then left. I would definitely recommend going if you are a tourist to just say you did it, but don't expect too much!! read more

Awesome! Just awesome. It's about 20 euro to get in for 45 minutes, but they give you a coat (super stylish), gloves, and a signature drink that comes in a glass made of ice. It's not as cold as you'd think in here but 45 minutes is plenty because you won't want to spend the night drinking here. You can buy another drink if you'd like and it's worth it since some of the concoctions aren't found anywhere else. It's a really unique experience and I was glad that we came here. I'll definitely check out Icebars in other major cities now. read more

This Ice bar is a lot of fun; However, I had a few hickupps with it. 1. the place was all in 'construction' so I do not think I should pay the full price for a place half ready; 2. the house drinks is quite a sad one.. barely can call it a drink. 3. the place was quite dead for a Saturday night considering it is a bar.. An experienced in an iced bar and lounge, a must if ur in oslo.a tourist destination where u can be dropped off from ur hop on hop off.entrance fee somewhat $20's can't remember the exact price in Norwegian currency, with a glass of norge drink.the service is warm n friendly.it includes ur coat n gloves.once u get there, it's really cold as ice.there was only one bartender who's cute n friendly so we're able to chit chat a bit since theres only four of us at that time then came a large of people then it becomes crowded.the space kinda small for all of us but there are sections with iced culptures inside u can get in.be careful with ur drink, it's slippery once u placed it on top of the ice, make sure to placed on the mantel so it won't dropped n break to pieces.we stayed for I guess less than an hour jus taking videos n pictures..munch sculpture is there too.it was an experienced indeed.now I'm curious what an ice hotel would be. read more
