Honestly really disappointed with my order from Magic Hawaiian BBQ. I ordered online through Yelp and when I got my food, two items were completely missing. That alone was frustrating, especially since I was ordering during a workday. On top of that, the macaroni salad was way overcooked and had almost no flavor. It tasted bland and mushy, which is not what you expect from a place known for Hawaiian BBQ. Overall, not a great experience. Missing items and poor food quality made it not worth it. The menu is pretty straight forward and prices seem fair to me. The people behind the counter don't seem too enthusiastic but are polite. I'm a fan of macaroni salad but the macaroni salad doesn't have much flavor to it. It's not bad but it's not great either. The short rib was my favorite. The service with was quick and friendly and I didn't have to wait too long for my order. In the mini, the scoop of rice is really small. Their mac salad was ok. I thought it lacked flavor and their sauce for the katsu wasn't like the katsu sauce you'd expect from other Hawaiian bbq places. Overall, pretty decent and fairly priced. Just do not even try this. I ordered the $10 BBQ chicken plate. The chicken was absolutely bland and was not exactly barbequed. Its one of those places where the chicken is cooked on a flat top grill. Not even sure if the meat was marinated because it tasted so bland. Adding to this is how they ONLY included one little 2oz sauce which was watered down off-the-shelf teriyaki taste-type. Two ice-cream size scoops or white rice, one scoop of macaroni salad, four pieces of chicken thighs and a bed of blanch cabbage for $10. No flavor at all. As far as the food it's okay, I always get the chicken katsu from any HB place I go to. I can't remember how it was the first time I went here and I hate just giving a review off of one experience as it could have just been an off day, so I will go back so I can clarify. Went here for the 2nd time today for lunch and luckly my co worker called it in on our way or else our hour lunch prob would have been spent waiting to eat instead of actually eating. As soon as we walked in we were standing by the registered and we both looked at each with wide eyes like hot diggity dog this place is jam packed, I then turned around to see how many people were eating compared to how many were holding receipts in their hands as the employee called out numbers I watched about 80 percent of the filled house check their numbers like it was the lotto. I then told my co worker just that. As we both asked each other why did we take the later lunch at work? Never again, at least not if I plan on eating here. I always give credit where credit is due so I will say all the workers were really busting their behinds. I even made a comment to my friend to watch how fast these people are moving good God they must get burnt out by the end of the rush. luckly it wasn't long after that our numbers hit and we went and collected our winnings, some lunch. Since the order was called in I noticed we snubbed our food before half the people sitting around that were there prior to our arrival. Definitely call it in! Thanks for the hard work, you all don't go unnoticed! The only thing is my chicken had some pieces that were just breading without any chicken in them. What the Cluck! I forgot to ask my co worker how their entree was and didn't eat with em when we got back to work so couldn't tell you how that mixed Hawaiian meat plate is. The pieces that were filled with chicken on my plate were good though it was prob like 65 to 35 percent ratio of chicken to just breading pieces. The Hawaiin Fried Rice is the only thing I order, without pineapple. I can't say I've tried anything else. They give you plenty of rice, so much so that they can barely close the lid. My coworkers and I ate here was because we already ate at Panda Express the previous day and they had never had Hawaiian BBQ before and wanted to try it. I ordered my usual Hawaiian BBQ favorite - chicken katsu mini meal. The female cashier was really rude and not friendly. When I took out my amex she said - NO WE DONT TAKE AMEX. uh ok, you could be a little friendlier about it... Calm down, I have a Visa too. The food came out relatively quick at least for how busy it was. The chicken was crispy, but that was the only positive. The rice was soggy, the bed of cabbage was partially cooked but still hard and gross, and the macaroni salad was so BLAND and MUSHY. Usually macaroni salad is my favorite part of Hawaiian BBQ, but this was really bad. Ugh. My coworker did not enjoy his garlic shrimp either. It was literally a couple shrimp cooked in like 7 tablespoons of minced garlic. Whew - it stunk! My other two coworkers got chicken teriyaki and drowned it in sauce to make it taste better. Ugh.
